The absolute best value this American family of three experienced in Thailand! Friendly and hospitable staff, clean and cozy hotel! "The Faces," a breathtaking restaurant and bar, is a 15 second walk away, and it feels like an authentic place you just dont ever want to leave! More comfortable than five star and four star big hotels where you truly feel at "home". It has a charm that makes you feel out of your element but like you are in your owm living room at home relaxing. If I had to find a complaint it would be a little stronger, but it wasnt bad by any means. I wish we never had to leave! Very good breakfast was included!||||P.S. - We loved the hugs elephant sanctuary they offer the tour package for, if you want to support the elephants and places that treat them well. The absolute best value this American family of three experienced in Thailand! Read moreWe recently visited Chiang Mai and spent four wonderful nights at the Pak Chiang Mai guest house. |Conveniently tucked away in a quiet lane, it is a short distance from the Chiang Mai Gate within the old city perimeter and its many Buddhist temples (wats). ||Chain stores, a fresh produce market, bank ATMs, money exchanges and a pharmacy are all within a few hundred metres, as are the nightly street food stalls. The Saturday night market is just a quick walk across the old city moat and the Sunday night market sets up shops about a kilometer away.|The guesthouse is a wooden building maintained with old-world charm - homely but neat and clean. Our room on the first floor accessed by the wooden stairway was big and airy, well-lit by a couple of big windows (which didn’t offer too much of a view, though) and had an attached bath. There was running hot and cold water throughout the day and night, clean towels and toiletries were regularly refreshed. Rooms were cleaned daily, beds made and bed linen changed as desired. The room and the premises had the look and feel of a ‘boutique hotel’. |The short-menu breakfast was served fresh and portions were adequate. Free bottled drinking water was always available in the cooler in the sitting area. The staff was cordial, discrete and always helpful.||The guesthouse organized for a cab drop to the airport at a reasonable charge. |I happily recommend the Pak Chiang Mai for a stay...
