Food poisoning which landed us in the hospital, computer charger exploded, and thin walls!
We are not picky travelers and I rarely give 1 stars to any place but the combination of experiences at Rendezvous GuestHouse was horrible.
First the electrical wiring at the guest house nearly electrocuted my wife and fried our Apple computer charger. The management at the Guesthouse took no responsibility ($75 cost) and said it was the chargers issue which we've been using in Thailand for nearly 30 days. We had no issues with the charge until this happened.
The walls in the room are extremely thin so you hear everything your neighbors are saying. Ive experienced many thin walls in cheap places but these are the worst.
Finally, food poisoning on the last morning of our stay. My wife ordered the fried rice with egg for breakfast. Within an hour she had felt nauseous and started to throw up/diarrhea a few hours after eating. This was the only food she ate all day. We had to go to the hospital it got so bad.
There are tons of great guesthouses and hotels in Chiang Mai, do your self a favor and don't go...
Read moreThe location is fantastic, right in the old town, just 1 min walk to the Sunday night market and 5 min to the east gate. We felt safe walking at night.
We stayed 5 nights in a double room with balcony facing the north on the 3rd floor. Very peaceful and pleasant surroundings, no vehicle noise even though the main road is nearby. It was fantastic to sleep with the balcony door open and wake up to the fresh morning air. We could hear birds chirping and see squirrels with white tail scuttling on utility wires while having breakfast.
Room is spacious and bright, bed very comfy, sheets impeccably clean, strong WiFi signal, water pressure in the bathroom strong. All this at a low room rate. It's really worth the money.
Staff is friendly and helpful. The owner spoke perfect English and helped carry our luggage up to our room. I don't understand the other comments about the staff being unfriendly.
We had a really enjoyable time in Chiang Mai and are already planning to come again and stay 1 month at Rendezvous! The hotel quoted us a very favourable...
