Arrived with high spirits only to get it ruined by a rude receptionist. My friends were trying to get clear answers about our booking but this receptionist was rolling her eyeballs on us, doesn’t want to speak or explain things to us properly, and even answered angrily, almost shouting that my friend have to ask and told her “dear, are you angry? if you don’t want to work, then go home”. Never had a problem with Thai’s hospitality until that very moment. She apologized after realizing her mistake, saying she’s not feeling well. We are guests, shouldn’t be treated that way no matter if you are sick or not, coz you are in that industry. Towels and keys has a security deposit. That would be understandable. But i think, they should include that in their info. Waited until almost 3pm to get our room. Place and rooms are clean, but well, that will depend on the people you are with. If they are hygienic or not. You can choose your bed which has an assigned locker. You must have your own 🔐 for this purpose. If you forgot,no worries there’s 7/11 nearby where you can buy 1. No lift. Better be ready carrying your big/heavy luggage/bags. There are few activities going on downstairs. Great music, nice drinks and food. You can join pub crawl where in the first venue is koko. You get free shirt, a shot and barbecue which is okay-is (of course no longer hot if you are late). It has time limit. I think until 8:30, but they do give consideration. The noise from the music reach you upstairs. (Not sure at the 1st floor, maybe worse😬) they decrease the volume at 1am though. If you can’t sleep on a noisy environment, this is not for you. If you want to extend your stay, expect to be transferred to a different room. If you lost/left something, chances are, you might not get it back. Sad. Get ready to get accustomed with the smell of MJ. I came to Thailand without knowing how it smells like, and leaving the country knowing the smell too well. They sell it downstairs but the good thing is, it’s not allowed inside the rooms. Had a great experience all in all. It depends on what you do anyways, not just where you stay.

I stayed at Koko Hostel in Ao Nang for one night, and while it has its positives, there were a few drawbacks that made my experience less than perfect. Pros: Great Location: The hostel is conveniently close to the beach, which is ideal for exploring Ao Nang. Comfortable Beds: The dorm beds were surprisingly comfortable, and the AC in the dorm was a huge plus in the Thai heat. Spacious Lockers: The lockers were large enough to fit all my belongings, including a backpack, which was very handy. Luggage Storage: They offer luggage storage, making it easy to explore the area even after checkout. Included Breakfast: Having breakfast included was a nice touch and good value for the price. Cons: Noisy Bar: The bar on the ground floor plays loud music late into the night, which makes it hard to get a good night's sleep. Chaotic Dorm Arrangement: The free choice of beds in the dorm was a bit disorganized. My assigned bed was taken by someone else when I returned from dinner, and later in the night, another guest in the dorm had to move because she was in the wrong room. Unclean Bathroom: The bathroom facilities could definitely use better cleaning. Deposits Required: There’s a deposit required for the key card and towel, which isn’t ideal for budget travelers. Overall, Koko Hostel has a lot of potential, especially with its location and amenities, but the noise, cleanliness, and organizational issues made my stay less enjoyable. It’s a decent choice if you’re looking for a budget-friendly spot close to the beach, but don’t expect a flawless experience.

If you’re looking for sleep, peace, or basic security… this ain’t it. This hostel is literally inside a nightclub/bar, so expect insanely loud music blasting from 10 AM until forever. Even with headphones in, you’ll still hear the bass shaking your bed. The rooms are upstairs behind a keycard door, but that felt useless since the main dorm door was always open, and you just had to hope your roommates locked the door to the room. If you stay here, bring a lock because the bar is full of random people, and anyone could wander in. Vibes? Pure chaos. One night, guys came in screaming at 3 AM, and the next, some dude brought a girl back and… yeah. Zero boundaries. If you’re a party animal, you’ll thrive. If you like sleep, good luck. Pros: ✅ Bathrooms were actually nice and open for the floor. ✅ Location is elite—close to the beach, restaurants, and many 7-Elevens. ✅ Basic breakfast (toast, cereal, yogurt, fruit, instant coffee). Cons: ❌ Music is BLASTING all day. Trying to sleep? Too bad. ❌ Zero security. ❌ No windows in the dorms = dungeon vibes. ❌ Staff seemed too young/inexperienced to handle issues. ❌ People have zero chill when it comes to noise and personal space. Final verdict: If you’re here to party and don’t care about sleep or security, you’ll probably love it. If you’re looking for literally anything else, book somewhere else.

Worst experience ever. In this hostel there's no organisation at all. After two days I asked the receptionist to extend my stay for one more night, not because I liked the hostel but because It was more convenient than changing again. The next day, after spending the morning out, I got back to the hostel and the staff came 3 times into my room asking me to leave in a very rude way. They claimed I didn't pay the day before. They made me wait 1 hour standing at the reception while they were doing nothing to solve the problem. I called all my friends to testify I actually paid but the staff didn't care at all. They couldn't even manage to get in contact with the lady I gave my money to the day before. In the end, after asking them to let me know if I can leave the reception and stay for the night, they said I can stay but they are still not convinced I paid. I asked them to look at the videos of the camera that is in the ceiling above the reception. They said they would have checked that night. The day after the lady said she looked at the video and she is sure I didn't pay. So I asked if I could check the video as well. We watched it together and in the video there was me paying for the extra night at the reception. She probably didn't look at the video at all. Not to mention the guy who was settling in my FEMALE dorm when I got back to the room. This kind of experience never happened to me before. I spent a horrible stay in this hostel. Other people also complained about the situation with beds because apparently it's common to find someone in your bed when you get back. Obviously the staff is not able to keep track of the guests that come and go from the hostel. Another black mark is that there isn't a chilling area. There is a big bar downstair where people party until 1-2 am and the music is so loud that if you don't have earplugs it's impossible to sleep. The rooms are pretty clean and the beds comfortable but this is the only positive thing. I would never reccomend this...

We got a double room which was ok, lacked a few things such as a side table and somewhere to hang your clothes. For a few days it’s not so bad. What was not nice is our check in got delayed by an hour so that they have time to clean, only to find the sheets were dirty. We received stained towels (big red spots) for which we paid deposit for. The receptionist (blonde gal) was very arrogant. Called to ask for the password, told me it’s all lowercase, it didn’t work and she made me go down to the reception (3 stories up and forth) so she could write it for me as if I’m an idiot. She wrote it and it worked, but she didn’t want to mention first letter was upper case, she said she had no idea why it didn’t work for me, checked it afterwards. At the bar downstairs they start talking while you re waiting for the change, in hope you might just leave and not take it. We had many luggages and had to drag them up the stairs (3 stories) with no help. At some point a little woman offered to help us, even though stronger people were around. Luggage was bigger than her so ofc we refused.. It’s not a horrible place to sleep in but there is a general feeling of disrespect.

In regards to the reply to this review. We never received a card, nor other instructions for the WiFi password. I had to find it in my phone settings after she typed it in. The whole episode was a complete mockery. Of course it is easier to accuse the client of lying than working on your issues..

We did complain about having to give a deposit, but for the towels which were dirty as well. You can see how that can go...
