The hotel is situated just off Ao Nang’s Main Street. It’s less than 10 minutes to the beach and a couple of minutes to hundreds of bars, restaurants and tour companies, though we had no noise from bars etc as it’s set back from the road, the staff were friendly and the girl on reception spoke good English. The room was a good size, clean, with a/c, fan, fridge and kettle. The price was fair at around $20. The reason for a rating of 3 was the layout of the hotel and the one facing it. All rooms have a balcony which is nice, though the neighbouring room is right next to you. We were on the 1st floor which would be a problem for families with young children as there was an open gap at the edge of the balcony that a young child could fall through. Our room faced the corridor of the hotel opposite which had windows facing our balcony and was very close ie 10 metres away. This was only a problem on the 2nd night of our stay when some local school groups checked in and the 2 westerners sat on the balcony became a source of fascination for the teenagers. It did feel a bit like being a zoo animal as they stopped to stare at us. It was clearly a first trip away and they were very excited, running along the corridors shouting and screaming. They only stayed for 1 night and the other 2 were peaceful, but it did highlight the somewhat strange layout of the two hotels. In summary, it’s clean, well run, good price and no noise from the rowdy nightlife of Ao Nang but don’t expect a...
Read moreThe room was decently clean, though the bed wasn’t very comfortable and the pillow was unusually high, making it hard to sleep.
Unfortunately, my experience took a turn when I was asked to pay 300 baht to replace a faulty hairdryer that the receptionist lent me. While using it normally, the hairdryer suddenly electrocuted out of nowhere —there were loud zapping sounds and fire sparks bursting out from the handle. Thankfully, I was holding it at waist level and not near my face or hair.
After bringing the hairdryer to the receptionist to explain what had happened, instead of showing concern or taking responsibility for what could have been a dangerous accident, the staff demanded that I pay for the damaged item. Their reasoning was simply: “You were the last to use it, so you have to pay for it.” I found this extremely unfair and irresponsible. Just because I happened to be the last person to use it doesn’t mean I caused the issue—especially when the fault clearly came from within the device. What about the many guests before me who may have contributed to its poor condition?
It was disappointing to see that their priority was compensation over guest safety. I expected better handling of a situation that involved potential harm. Sadly, this incident overshadowed what could have been a...
Read moreRoom was clean and bed was comfortable, although it felt like there was sand in my bed on the first day. I chalked it up to the laundry being done near the beach and cleaned it myself. The shower was absolutely awful, little more than a mist coming out of the shower head. The location is great, walking distance to everything you need. The staff were friendly and although i had put the do not disturb sign as i was ill, they left me a bag with toilet rolls and water bottles each day outside my door. The only downside is that you can hear EVERYTHING happening outside in the hallways, everything echoes so much. You can even hear people talking in rooms down the hall as it...
