I was so excited to stay at this hotel. I have stayed in this area before and I enjoyed it. The pictures of the hotel on Booking looked great, and so were the reviews, so I went ahead and booked it for me and my partner.

We stayed in Hyde Park Hotel from December 6th until December 12th on the ground floor. Upon checking in, the receptionist asked us for a 500 baht deposit, but did not explain what it's for. When asked, she said it's because this is a non-smoking hotel. Ok? Whatever. We got our deposit back when we checked out anyway. They also refused to give us two keycards even though we were two people.

The first night, I was greeted by a horrible smell in the room. It was sewage. A spider in the bathroom also greeted me that night. The lights in the room were dim. There were no windows, only a balcony door that cannot be opened. The bathroom looked rundown. It is nothing like they advertise it on Booking.

When I went to inform the receptionist about the sewer smell, she pretended to be shocked. Then, she told me that this is due to some plumbing work they had done in the bathroom. She gave me air freshener. I was livid. I asked to be moved to another room and she declined. I went back to my room defeated, and discovered stains on the bedsheets. I went back to the receptionist and she said I have to wait for housekeeping given that it was past 2AM. I insisted the bedsheets get changed, and they complied eventually.

As I was sleeping, I woke up to the sound of water dripping. I later discovered that it was the AC unit. The next morning, I discovered that the bathroom sink was also dripping. We called the manager who kept insisting we need to pay $15 extra per night if we want to be moved to an upper floor. The upcharge does not make sense - we had friend who had booked rooms on the third floor, and the difference was 2-3$, rather than $15. We were very polite with her during the phone call. We did not even ask to be upgraded for free, we just asked that she gives us a better rate, but she refused to accommodate us. When she was informed that I've taken pictures of everything and will leave a bad review, she got hostile, and told us we cannot be moved to the upper floor because all the rooms are fully booked. The reception staff eventually moved us to a room facing our initial one on the ground floor where the smell was not present as much, but the same problems with lighting and water dripping remained.

Other things worth mentioning: their rooms are not soundproof. I got woken up by other people's alarms multiples time. The hotel also plays classical music loudly in the hallways starting midnight for some reason, which can be heard inside the room. It made it very difficult to sleep. One morning, I was woken up by housekeeping violently cleaning the room next to me at 8AM.

And lastly, the glass door of the hotel stopped functioning one night, and my partner had to hold it open with their hands while I squeezed myself between the glass door so I can go inside the hotel.

This hotel is obviously not taken care of. There are signs of neglect everywhere, and with such bad management and upkeep, they are definitely not...

Booked 3 rooms. Mouldy and dirty bathrooms. Noisy hallways at night. A bit smelly but not terrible. Had shit spray on the side of the vanity in my room. We Paid for late check out of 1 of the rooms at 6pm and 3pm for 2 other room only to be told when we came back from shopping they want more money because we only paid until 3pm and not 6pm what was agreed when we asked. The staff member on the front desk she is a liar and maybe made a mistake and tried to cover herself in front of the manager im not sure but she refused to admit she was wrong. My wife is Thai and in the morning talked in thai about a 6pm check out and then i talked to the girl and confirmed 3pm check out for 2 rooms then 6pm check out for 1 room. She confirmed this twice, once in thai and once in english and the charge of 300baht was paid for room and also 1200baht for airport taxi. Poor service and ruined our last day before we go home. They never even tried to at least meet us half way after their mistake, would have been happy to kick us out on the street. We didn't try to complain about the room, but I've added it in this review as they are obviously just out to make extra $ anyway they can. And their response to this review isn't surprising! Why start tellimg the truth now hey. Im surprised there isn't more bad reviews about the hotel condition tbh but it isn't overly expensive so i guess people don't expect too much. Its also very hard to access in and out as the traffic is so bad throughout most of the day so its not an ideal location. We did not misunderstand the times or the whole deal of the conversation or the costs and she seemed as though she understood as she repeated it back to me in english that we can extend to 3pm for all rooms and 6pm for 1...

Stayed here for a week upon arriving in Bangkok. Arrived very late as my plane did not land until 11pm. Was happy to find someone working reception and ready to check me in. Quick easy check-in with 500baht key deposit. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Every room had a small balcony, unfortunately I was on a lower floor and my balcony faced a residential home so it had a bunch of fake greenery blocking the sun so the room did not really get any natural light which I would of liked. Rooms on the end of the hallway facing the front of the hotel have large windows. As far as I could tell my room was one of the only ones that had this setup on the balcony, room 215. The rooftop pool area and patio were amazing. I spent a ton of time here enjoying the pool to cool off from the Bangkok heat and enjoy to view and the breeze. The rooftop had a great view of Baiyoke tower. The pool was also pristine and I had it to myself pretty much the whole time. For me the rooftop areas were the reason I booked and it was exactly what I wanted. The staff was always very nice and friendly and helpful. I needed a train ticket printed and they in did that for me. They also allowed me to stay and use the rooftop pool and areas for pretty much the whole day after I checked out since my train didn't leave until 7pm. The hotel is within a 5-10 minute walk to 2 different parks, the airport BTS link and the Victory BTS link, and the Pratunam market. Also within easy walk to central world...

I had read some mixed reviews about the place, with people saying it's starting to show its age. But when we got there, I was pleasantly surprised. The place was easy to find, the staff were super accommodating, and the room was huge. We even got one with a city-view balcony, which was awesome. Sure, you can see some wear and tear, but nothing that really affected our stay. The staff kept our room clean every day, with fresh towels and free drinking water. There's also a 24/7 mini café in the lobby, and the pool is open 24/7 too. We only used the pool once during our 8-day stay, but it was perfect for cooling off in the Bangkok heat. Just a heads up, the area does get pretty heavy traffic during the day, especially during rush hour, so I’d recommend using the train system to get around. Luckily, there’s a station within walking distance from the hotel. Plus, there are some food options, 7-11, and massage places just outside on the main road, which is super convenient. My only complaint is the occasional bad smell coming from the bathroom drain—it was pretty strong when we first checked in, but it seemed to come and go. Overall, we had a good stay, and I’d consider coming back.

This hotel does the job if you just need to crash before a flight or are not spending too long. The balcony in the room was locked. The walls were pealing off a bit and the bedsheets smelt old rather than of clean laundry. Overall there was no bugs or dirt or anything so it was clean and hygienic, but just felt like it lacked maintenance to be seamless. The location is ok, it’s walking distance to shopping malls, but overall would not say it’s the best location in Bangkok. The rooftop pool is definitely a redeeming factor with a really nice view. For the price it’s completely fine, and it’s a descent clean place to crash.
