This was the very first restaurant we dined at upon arriving in Bangkok, and it set a warm tone for the rest of our trip. Since we arrived fairly early in the morning, many local restaurants were still closed at that time. That’s why we decided to try this coffee and bakery restaurant, which fortunately opened earlier than most. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they didn’t just serve coffee and pastries, but also offered rice meals as early as 9 AM—perfect for hungry travelers like us who wanted something filling.
We ordered a couple of dishes, one with chicken and the other with pork. I chose the chicken curry dish, and to my delight, it tasted somewhat similar to the curries I’ve had back home in the Philippines. The main difference was in the color and presentation: this version had a richer, darker, orange tone that gave it a distinct Thai character. Before ordering, we asked the cashier if the dish was spicy, since we weren’t sure how hot the flavors would be, and they kindly assured us that it wasn’t. True enough, the curry had just the right balance of flavors—savory, aromatic, and comforting without being overwhelming.
The restaurant itself had a nice layout. We were directed to the third floor, which served as the main dining area, while the ground floor was more of a café-style space with coffee and pastries on display. The third floor felt cozy and relaxed, giving us a quiet place to enjoy our meal after a long journey.
What stood out the most, however, was the service. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, always attentive to our needs, and their communication skills made the whole process smooth and easy. As first-time visitors in Bangkok, this left a really good impression on us. Overall, we had a lovely first dining experience, and it gave us both comfort and energy to start exploring the city...
Read moreI'm long time visitor to the neighborhood and a big coffee drinker. I've never been particularly impressed with the coffee in any of the shops I'd visited in the area.
Last month I came across Double U. A lovely coffee shop right on the main drag. I was immediately charmed by its quiet, welcoming atmosphere.
I always get americano, so I can really taste the coffee. Theirs is wonderful. A really good cup of coffee. I noticed that each time it was made by the same young lady. She does a great job.
The baked goods I had were fresh and tasty. I especially like the cheese cake.
While I can't remember the name of the lunch I had, it's a noodle dish with an egg on top. It was so good I went back the next day and ordered it again.
On each visit I dealt with a man who I believe is the owner. He's a pretty cool guy, and his coffee shop is a reflection of him. A nice oasis in a busy city. I wish I...
