We stayed 5 nights at the Avista Hideaway and overall had a wonderful experience in terms of customer service and accommodation. We were warmly greeted at the front lobby by the staff and escorted to the reception where over our stay we received great service in terms of the Thai friendly hospitality and genuine efforts to assist us and service our requests. Notable call outs from the reception team were Joy, Ouinni, BB, Beam, Ging and Jane. Whether it was helping us sort out our bill, arranging buggies to transport us from the lobby to our rooms, arranging our rooms (that they upgraded) so that our travel party were all located next to each other, providing local information to help us in Patong, nothing was too much trouble for them so thank you.
The rooms themselves were very spacious, tastefully designed, spotlessly clean and comfortable with full bathroom amenities and slippers supplied. The resort staff made us feel extra special with a wonderful fruit platter, and a wonderfully decadent birthday cake and beautiful birthday message on our bed made out of flowers and plant leaves. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we had ever slept in and we had the best night sleep during our stay. Think of sleeping on a soft, fluffy cloud would be the best way to describe the experience.
The Vista Restaurant had a wonderful breakfast buffet with so many different cuisines on offer, a tandoor oven for making fresh Indian Naans on demand, an egg station, fresh noodle station, juice station, huge assortment of baked goods and pastries and they changed the menu every day so you never had the same thing. But the service staff at Vista were really next level and so friendly, helpful and attentive. Each morning we were warmly greeted by the lovely Chompoo as we entered the restaurant. Then we were really well attended to by Vishal, Mind, Sonya, Bella, Bob, Nuch, Keow and Majda every day. We really felt like royalty. We passed this feedback onto the service manager Philipp Stieger who has really done a wonderful job to have such a well run, world class restaurant breakfast buffet.
We also dined and had drinks at Sizzle Bar where Tamal provided exceptional customer service and went above and beyond to look after our relatively large group. He arranged a large table with a beautiful view looking over the trees, Patong beach and town. Food and drinks were great and very reasonable for a 5 star resort.
The resort infinity pool was great with a view over the forest which was very serene and the staff at the Chiva swim up bar dished out wonderful cocktails and delivered pool snacks from the Vista restaurant.
The gym was very well appointed with modern, clean equipment and the games room had table soccer, pool, table tennis, darts, board games and a PS5.
The hotel also had a fully loaded daily activity schedule with so many options to try from an intro to Thai Kickboxing to water aerobics to Thai language classes and activities designed for children.
I had an amazing massage experience at Jivana spa where I had this wonderful 90 minute massage in a very private outdoor setting. From the moment I entered I was pampered by the spa's reception staff right through to my massage therapist. My therapist was a magician and I fell asleep for what felt like hours and woke up to find that my muscular aches had disappeared and feeling well rested and energised.
Location-wise, the hotel is well placed in a more secluded, private, forestry area in Phuket that overlooks Patong beach and town centre and is away from all the crazy noise, hustle and bustle but is only a 6-8 minute Grab/taxi ride to Patong Town centre. The resort also offers a free shuttle service that will take you right to the middle of town and drop you at the Jungceylon shopping mall so it is very easy to get into town.
I would also like to recognise the Reservation team (Sirikorn, Digvijay, Ashutosh and Yingmee) for arranging our whole stay to ensure that we had a wonderful experience.
Thank you to the staff at Avista Hideaway for making our stay a...

All in all, we had a mixed experience at the Avista. It was our first time in Phuket and as part of our honeymoon, we stayed at the hotel for 7 nights. At first glance, the hotel is beautiful. Its very big, with three pools and beautiful gardens. But when you look closer, especially the rooms, you realize it’s very dated, dirty and many things like shower heads and tiles are broken. Unfortunately, our vacation was overshadowed by the fact that on the last night, I got food poisoning and we had to call the hotel doctor to the room to give me an IV drip. It was one of the worst nights ever. Even though it was REALLY expensive, we were lucky the hotel offered this kind of service. However, I had only eaten at the hotel, so it must have come from the hotel. We had to extend another night and change our flights, the transport and all our plans, so it did cost us a lot of money. The hotel didn’t want to take any responsibility and only gave us some discount after we complained to them. They said that there was a “virus” going around in Phuket but even the doctor said that it was food poisoning. Prior to that, we had a nice time with relaxing days at the pool and day trips to different areas around Phuket. When we arrived, they welcomed us with a room upgrade and “honeymoon” decoration. We had booked a room with garden view because we like a quiet surrounding but got upgraded to a bigger room with two beds and a connecting door, but with a pool and ocean view. Hesitant at first because of the connecting door and the pool view (= noisy), we accepted because of the ocean view and because they already decorated it. However, we quickly regretted the decision because we heard EVERYTHING through the connecting door (another couple iykyk), and we had to change our room and the staff offered us another upgrade to a pool access room. Also, the fire alarm went on twice in the first room, waking us up at 8 am and also at 11 PM or so, but nobody really cared. We heard the fire alarm going on at least 5 times going off in other rooms as well, which rather seemed like technical problems as nobody from the hotel really cared.
I don’t really understand why the reviews are so good, you can get much better hotels with better location and experience for less money in Thailand.
LOCATION: Quite secluded, but a 7-11 is close and a restaurant and laundry service is opposite the hotel. The hotel offers oneway shuttle busses to Patong Beach and Karon Beach, and even Phuket Town in the morning. However, it’s expensive to get back (transportation in Phuket is so expensive!).
BEACHES: Freedom Beach is around 20-25 mins away, however the “walk” is not super chill. Tri Trang beach was close too, but we didn’t get to visit. Patong beach is not good.
ROOMS: The rooms are old, with malfunctioning ACs and fire alarms. The shower heads weren’t working properly, you can see heavy lime stains in the shower and on the fittings. Do NOT get the room with the connecting door! You can hear EVERYTHING! And also, rooms by the pool are very loud because of the children and the pool bar music.
STAFF: very friendly and super helpful at all times but many don’t speak Thai and many of the Thais don’t speak English very well.
POOLS: The three pools are amazing and we always got a sunbed. Happy hour at the pool bar was great too! And there is one adults only pool.
FOOD: amazing breakfast with so many choices. The restaurants are quite expensive, especially Tambu and Sizzle. And I got...
Read moreThe Avista Hideaway was absolutely stunning! Truly a hidden resort to escape the busy Patong beach, but only a short drive away. Exactly what we needed to start a trip with relaxation and serenity.
From the moment you walk into the lobby, you are surrounded by the warm and welcoming staff, and incredible views of the surrounding beaches and skylines hugged by the dense jungles and mountains.
The hotel grounds and gardens are meticulously maintained, and although there's several different levels (as the hotel cascades down the edge of a mountain), accessibility was never an issue as they have complimentary golf carts which drive you to your required location, as well as a myriad of elevators and different paths to take.
This Thailand trip was for my 30th birthday, and I felt incredibly special as they left multiple "Happy Birthday" messages around our hotel room, as well as a decadent chocolate cake on arrival! The extra thought and attention to detail was greatly appreciated, and it was a wonderful way to start our holiday!
Our 'Garden View' room was perfectly positioned in the hotel, and the room was spacious and beautifully styled with touches of Thai elements. Our patio was attached to a path which allowed us easy and direct access to the surrounding pools (for which there were plenty to choose from).
Each pool was stunning and had its own unique experience to the next. All the pools had swim up pool bars, however each one brought a different vibe and viewpoint. The adult pool (which was arguably our favourite) is the most private and secluded of the pools. It was quite, serene and the most relaxing, although we tried most of the pools each day we stayed and they were all amazing in their own way!
The restaurants at the Avista Hideaway are world class, and although we didn't get to try Tambu, the Sizzle Restaurant boasted the most amazing views and the food there was delicious! Even though they are technically a steak and bbq restaurant, they had no issues accommodating our vegetarian needs and all the dishes we ate were amazing! And so were the cocktails!
The Vista Restaurant is where the buffet breakfast took place every morning, and we have never seen a buffet that was so big! We were spoilt for choice as there were so many dishes and cuisines to choose from. Each day brought a new buffet rotation so it was always exciting to see what was on the menu next! We also ate at Vista for dinner and the dinner menu is just as good as the breakfast menu with high quality food and amazing service!
We also booked a 3 hour 'Royal Siam Spa' package at the Jivana Spa on site, which was such an incredible experience in and of itself! As you enter the spa, you walk across a boardwalk surrounded by mist and covered by a canopy of bamboo. You're then welcomed to the spa lobby which is surrounded by waterfalls and an abundance of plants, truly transporting you into yet another state of relaxation and serenity. The spa treatment was the best I have ever had, and the staff were all so kind and professional. Truly an exceptional experience.
The staff at this hotel go above and beyond for their guests at every opportunity, and they were all so kind and helpful and lovely to talk to. They deserve praise for how they made us feel during our stay and it made me sad to leave!
This hotel is a 10 out of 10 experience and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxury experience with incredible views and a focus on...
