Sizzle Rooftop Restaurant has one of the most breathtaking views in Phuket but lacks everything beyond. Walking into the lobby of Avista is quite impressive but there is no mention or signs of how to get to Sizzle. A quick elevator ride to the top and guests are transported to sunset landscape all around. Greeted by a friendly host, we feel welcomed and surprised to sit a party of twelve. We are sat front and center with line of sight to the bar, balcony and kitchen. The menu is presented by QR code or iPad. A quick swipe shows appetizers, salads, entrees, followed by drinks and desserts. Sizzle prides itself on fresh seafood and steaks. The selection does not disappoint however the prices are steep to reflect the location and upscale setting. The pluses, need to mention the view again and their grilled seafood appetizers. The scallops and octopus are a must and saves this from being a three star. Order the Tomahawk one step up as our medium rare came out medium and the meat close to the bone can always be refired to your liking. The main entrees are a la carte and shareable. Consider this when ordering the lobster, fish or steaks. Go for the black truffle fries. The minuses, wait times and course timing. Waited a long time for orders of salads and soups.., had to ask for our Caesar salads after the hot appetizers arrived. Could not receive another serving of "bread" due to the kitchen being busy after twenty five minutes into service. The Sizzle Cheese board lacked savory items, a few cuts of salted meat or additional olives should suffice. Cheese would pair well with the focaccia bread which was "limited" to one quarter per guest. This after forty five minutes of waiting for appetizers. We felt that even chain restaurants provide additional servings of bread on request. One hour and half in and entrees other than grilled meats have arrived. Pork ribs were good, but not worth while the wait Guests and couples should be prepared to spend 6000 baht without drinks, 8000 or more if paired with wine or a...

Restaurant in on the rooftop on the Mgallery hotel just outside patong. Also shared the adjacent space with a newly opened just a year ago Indian grill restaurant.
Arrived little late due to traffic, greater by the Maître d, asked to wait at the bar for table to be prepared, no issues.
The restaurant has all rooftop seating with views over patong.
While at the bar ordered a drink, beer and cocktail. Bar man was struggling on a quite night took over 10mins to get our drinks by which time we already moved to our table.
Greeted by the waiter and given to us on an iPad, and kindly gave a few menu recommendations.
To start we had the flatbread and the wasabi tempura prawn. Flatbread although simple with 3 dips was fantastic, and the prawns where cooked perfect with a light well seasoned batter, the wasabi dip was not over powering and added a nice kick.
From here things started to go down hill, as after our starters we where asked is we would like dessert. No but we would like to offer a main.
For the main we decided to share a main of the 220gram tenderloin with sides of truffle mash, hand cooked chips, and grilled corn.
In between where served food we have not ordered which I pointed out.
When the main course arrived the tenderloin have been cut in half and cooked separately, meaning the temp of both cooked medium where different and over done. The hand cooked chip over done and soft. The mash and corn where good.
For dessert on recommendation we ordered the lava cake, which arrived over cooked. Replaced with a table side prepared tiramisu which was really not good.
Over all the service and attention to detail in cooking has let down this restaurant, which is a real shame as it could be in the top 3 steaks in patong. I would say...
Read moreThis is meant to be constructive citisism and I am sure with a bid more training by Khun Simona her other staff members will be able to improve. A must if this place wants to justify the high prices!
To put a smoking zone right next to the table where smoking is not allowed makes absolutely no sense. This alone has reduced our eating fun by half! Common sense would be useful in this case.
Once the starters are served and before the main course starts, one should expect that new plates are being provided as to make sure the leftover bids / sauce are not interfering with the taste of the main course. Also, to serve the dishes not only a knife and fork should be provided but also a spoon. E.g. I had the salmon as a main course but could not spread the sauce over the salmon as no spoon was available. Hence the taste of the fish was rather flat!
When wine is ordered and put into the bucket with ice one should expect that a waiter attends to refilling the glasses. During the entire dinner not a single time a refill by the staff took place and hence we did the job ourselves.
Having enjoyed culinary treats all over the world I could only rate this restaurant as mediocre. The beautiful view is not enough compensation for the other shortcomings!
But as I mentioned in my opening statement, with Khun Simona putting in some training and possibly have a closer eye as to what her team members are doing this could possibly become a good restaurant...
