Today is our last day of a 17 night stay at the Doubletree by Hilton Phuket Banthai Resort. We had two pool access rooms next door to each other for our 4 teenage daughters, and a one bedroom pool access suite a couple of doors down for my husband and I.

The location is so convenient, straight across the road from Patong Beach, in my opinion the best beach in Phuket. 5 min walk to Bangla road walking street, 5 mins walk to chino night market, 10 mins walk to Otop night market. Shopping and bars everywhere you look. There is a barber hairdresser in the hotel driveway that does a fantastic wash, dry and straighten for the ladies or a tight fade for the gents. Kim’s massage is also in the driveway and one of the best massage shops in Patong. If you don’t want to walk anywhere, there is always taxis on the street in front of the hotel

Checkin is smooth, in their air conditioned signature cookie room. The reception staff are always so helpful and friendly. Between the 6 of us, we have all lost a room key during the 17 nights and they have always been so helpful to make a new one for us.

Breakfast, oh my gosh! Amazing! The best buffet breakfast I have had in all of Thailand. The selection is ridiculously good and the live cook stations for eggs, noodle soups, sautéed vegetables, juicing plus more is fantastic. Again the staff are sooo friendly and helpful and always sorted a table for 6 straight away, no waiting.

We also attended the New Year’s Eve dinner. I have never seen a buffet with sooo much selection, it was truly out of this world. The seafood selection was fantastic (I don’t eat seafood, but could appreciate that people would be drooling over what was on offer) there was something for everyone’s tastebuds, our teenagers went nuts. I would highly recommend doing this dinner to anyone here for NYE in the future, you can then head to the beach to watch the fireworks and lanterns being released.

The rooms are great. Surprisingly the pool access rooms have a king bed, plus a single bed and have been freshly renovated. The bathrooms are spacious and have a nice deep bathtub which my girls loved soaking in before bed or after a day in the hotel pool.

Our one bedroom pool access suite was super spacious and perfectly located (room 1147). Each of the pool access rooms have a little spa jacuzzi seat, with the button to turn on located on your balcony. The bed and linen was lovely to sleep in, good quality with black out curtains for those that love a sleep in. Even though our rooms were located near the swim up bar, you can’t hear any noise from inside your room. Super peaceful. The pool access rooms have a pool that is seperated from the main pool, by a walkway. We never felt like our space was invaded. It was great to wake up and sit on the balcony each morning before people started swimming, and again at night.

The hotel has three pools, with two swim up bars and different happy hours so you can enjoy both bars. We spent a lot of time at the one closest to our room, because the staff are so friendly and chatty. We learned about their families and got lots of recommendations for places to go eat, things to see and do. We also made many friends with other travellers.

We have had the most amazing time on our first stay at this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, but what makes this hotel truly magical and memorable is the staff. All the staff are so friendly and helpful and they bend over backwards to make sure you are having the holiday of your life. Special thanks to Beerfong, Jasmine, Toy, Maurice, Ketty and the family favourite - Timmy at our pool bar. The hotel operations manager Joffrey did everything in his power to make our stay a good one. Thank you and we will...

We just finished another stay at Doubletree by Hilton Phuket Banthai Resort in Patong Beach.

Every time we arrive, they blow us away with their welcome and hospitality. They treat us like family, it’s not like any other hotel or resort we have stayed at.

At arrival, they gave as our requested room number, two free drinks for each day of our stay (15 nights), they gave us the yummy doubletree cookies, they walked us to our room, which had a bottle of champagne, a gorgeous welcome display on our bed, a card signed by all the staff and also a separate card written by the front office manager, with an orchid. Later that day, they dropped of a high tea tower and three different types of beer. When we first arrived, it was the morning so we went to have breakfast and our favourite pool barman, Timmy, made us each our favourite cocktail and delivered it to our table at breakfast.

Honestly the service and the staff at this hotel make you feel like family, every single stay. They acknowledge and value your diamond status. Majority of the rooms are renovated, with the remaining rooms being renovated in 2025. Special thanks to the front office and operational staff - Vin, Airr, Jo, Joey and Christof. Breakfast and Pool Bar Staff - Timmy, Tony, Nabee, Jasmine, Katty, Fon, Fongbeer, Maeya and Jeff.

The breakfast is amazing. There are three hotel pools, two pool bars with the most helpful staff, a restaurant which serves great food, two other bars which overlook Patong beach. The resort has a massage shop, hair salon, Starbucks and a pharmacy all located in its driveway.

Each Wednesday and Saturday, they have a family friendly foam pool party, with a DJ and dancers and a fresh barbecue. They have happy hours at the pool bar and other bars, every afternoon. Two for one drinks.

The hotel is located on the beach road in Patong. There are multiple night markets and shopping all within a kilometre. Lots of places to do laundry, pharmacies, restaurants. Everything you need is within walking distance.

We have stayed in three different room types and our favourite is the poolside rooms. We have made many memories at this hotel and plan to...

Longtime Hilton Diamond members and jumped at the opportunity to stay at a doubletree in Phuket but remained cautiously optimistic due to some of the bad reviews. Our experience was wonderful! We stayed 5 nights and didn’t regret a thing. Our favorite part of the hotel: the hotel breakfast buffet, restaurant, and bars! I was blown away at the selection and quality of the breakfast buffet (free for Diamond members) and the cool vibes of the Mojito bar. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive to every guests requests. We were able to book all of our incredible tours at their tour desk situated next to the lobby which provided us reputable tour companies and activities. The beautiful entrance and lobby, being slightly tucked away from the busy and loud street but also being within a 2 minute walk to the beach. Quite possibly the best thing about the hotel Is its central walking location to most of Patongs best bars and restaurants including Bangla Road. Although quite plain and simple, both pools offer great shade and an opportunity to cool off at their swim up bar which has a great happy hour (BOGO). Unfortunately the pool itself closes at 8pm which we thought was a little early. The only thing we found lacking were the actual rooms themselves - they’re on the smaller size and don’t really embody what most people come to expect from a Hilton Doubletree. The bathroom was almost comically small with the worst engineered shower door of all time (water gets all over the floor). With that said, we were in Phuket for island hopping not staying at our hotel room so it didn’t bother us much. However if you’re looking for a “resort” style accommodations, I’d probably look elsewhere. But if you’re like and spend most of the time at the beach and just needed a place to sleep, eat and recharge at a central location to everything, then this is...

***EDIT:*** on our second day at this hotel we received a phone call offering a double connecting room upgrade for free. I am very happy about this as are my family as it is a massive upgrade for space and bedding. I would like to thank the front staff manager for organising this and seeing that we are now happy with the room change. I would also like to say how amazing the breakfast has been, particularly the smoothie section! Thank you very much! **ORIGINAL:** The room is not as it was advertised. This is not a deluxe room at all nor does it offer pool access as the photos on the webpages show it to have at the time of booking. The room is tiny and does not offer the amenities that other hotels do for a room of this named standard. The third “bed” has a very thin cushion as a mattress that offers no padding from the hard wood under it and is very low to the ground which makes it difficult to get on and off. The room has a terrible sewerage smell to it that isn’t leaving even with the air conditioner on and the door open. We are sleeping 3 adults in the room and only were given coffee cups for 2 people. When I brought these points up with the front desk staff on the day of arrival (12/03/2023), the only solution given was to pay per night for an upgraded room. My holiday has only just started today and I am truely regretting booking this hotel. Unfortunately as the room has already been paid for I have little to no choice but to stay as I will loose the money spent on the room which was close to $3000! I am very very disappointed in this hotel and the lack of help in resolving the issues. I will not be returning to this hotel in the future for my yearly family holiday nor will I be recommending this hotel to the many friends who holiday in Phuket multiple times every year.

4.5* We had an excellent 6-night stay at this property! The location is fantastic—just one street across from the beach. The hotel is very close to Patong and Bangla Street, and just a 10-minute walk to Jungceylon and lots of great restaurants. One thing to note: although the property is only one street away from the beach, it’s not an ocean-view or beach-facing property. You might get a restricted water view from the 4th floor (the highest level). The pool bar was a great spot to relax, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Although some of the local Thai cuisine didn’t quite hit the mark, the variety overall was impressive and the service was excellent. A special shoutout to the lady chef at the live egg station—she was amazing! Despite being super busy every day, she never seemed flustered and always had a smile. Chompu, our server at "The Port," was absolutely fantastic. She provided service with a smile and made great recommendations without being pushy. She suggested the seafood special, "Talay Tung," and I’m so glad she did—it was amazing! That said, the dish could have used a few more sides like bread or fries, but it was excellent nonetheless. The rooms are relatively smallish but clean and well-maintained. We had the pool access room, which was great—opening the sliding door and jumping straight into the pool almost felt private (ish). The property itself is slightly older, but it’s been kept in good condition. One minor downside: if I’m being super critical, some of the managers really need to tone down their attitude and take a page from the staff’s book on warmth and hospitality. The staff’s friendliness and professionalism were what truly stood out.

Overall, the hotel was decent, but there were a few issues. Every night, I heard what sounded like gunshots or other loud, unsettling noises from outside, which made me feel a bit uneasy. It wasn’t coming from inside the hotel, but since it happened every night, it was hard to ignore. I stayed in a ground-floor poolside room, which was very convenient because the pool was right outside the door. It was nice to step out and swim anytime, and coming back to the room was easy. However, the room itself was quite old and not well-maintained. The biggest issue was that the water from the tap was yellow, which made me feel uncomfortable about using it. There were also a lot of flies inside the room, and I even found dead flies stuck to the walls, which was pretty unpleasant. The cleanliness and overall upkeep of the room definitely needed improvement. When I checked in, the staff didn’t inform me about pool or beach towels, so on the first day, I had to use the towels from my room. However, the service itself was good—whenever I had questions or needed something, the staff responded quickly and took care of it right away. The location was excellent. The hotel is right in front of the beach, making it easy to go out and enjoy the area. It’s also close to Patong Beach, and I could walk everywhere without any issues. There were plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, so getting food or other essentials was never a problem. Overall, it was worth exactly what I paid for—nothing more, nothing less. If you prioritize location and pool access, it might be a good choice. However, if room cleanliness and maintenance are important to you, I wouldn’t recommend it.
