I rarely leave reviews, but I felt it was necessary to share our experience. My family and I visited Patong Beach with our two-year-old brother, who recently underwent multiple surgeries. After a long day, he was in pain due to sensitive skin, and we needed to clean him up quickly. We stopped at Molly’s Tavern, hoping to eat there while my mother took him to the restroom to care for him.
Unfortunately, we quickly realized this was a pub-style restaurant without suitable food options for a toddler, so we politely decided to leave. At that point, the staff became incredibly rude. They demanded a “bathroom fee” of 50 baht, despite only my mother briefly taking our brother in without using the facilities. When we tried to explain, the staff didn’t listen, cursed at us, and insisted we pay, even raising the fee to 300 baht at one point. We paid the fee to avoid further conflict, but the waitress was disrespectful, made angry gestures, and even told us never to come back.
This experience was incredibly disappointing. A little empathy from the staff could have made all the difference. We understand business policies, but the treatment we received felt unprofessional and unnecessarily hostile.
EDIT: I was shocked to see the response from the staff here. Instead of listening and understanding the unique situation we were dealing with, they dismissed our family’s genuine distress and tried to turn it around on us. We didn’t simply “want a free bathroom.” My little brother, who is only two, recently had major surgeries and needs very specific care that few places can accommodate. We had every intention to dine, but unfortunately, your menu simply wasn’t suitable for his condition, which was heartbreaking to realize when he was in so much pain.
Demanding a fee, despite my mother not even using the facilities fully, was one thing, but the dismissive attitude and disrespect were inexcusable. Even as paying customers, we were treated with hostility instead of empathy. It was humiliating to be accused of just wanting free services, especially when we would have gladly stayed if our little brother’s needs were met.
This experience was far from the basic human decency and understanding one might expect in such an uncomfortable moment. I hope the staff reflects on this and realizes that treating customers with dignity is far more valuable than enforcing rigid rules without a...
Read moreMy friends and I went to a bar for some drinks before heading home. The place seemed fine, unlike other bars in the area. However, we encountered a problem when we were asked to pay the bill twice, even though we had already paid and had the receipt to prove it. The manager became aggressive, but we remained calm throughout the situation. In addition, the manager made it clear that she had contacts in the police force. She threatened to involve them, and we reluctantly agreed, hoping for a fair resolution. The manager also mentioned that there were security cameras in the bar, so we requested to review the footage. However, when we wanted to check the cameras, the manager claimed that they were suddenly not working. Despite this, we continued to assert our position. However, even with the police present and the mention of the cameras, they couldn't determine who was at fault. They gave us the option to either pay the bill again or file a complaint, but since I was on vacation, I didn't have time for legal procedures. Reluctantly, we ended up paying the bill for the second time. The police officer understood our predicament and tried to calm down the aggressive manager. After paying again, the officer mentioned that he had dealt with similar issues at that bar and was frustrated by it. Interestingly, someone nearby, who was eating at a McDonald's, overheard our conversation and said they had experienced the same problem. After my holiday im back home in Vietnam and I shared this unfortunate incident with a Swiss friend who him and his family living 15 years in phuket knew the owner of the bar(the owner live in Bangkok now), and they felt sorry for us. They promised to contact the owner and hoped that the bar could improve its reputation. This was the only problem we encountered during our vacation and it was clearly a trape, ps : Ho no madam I'm not a lier , and I see the way you answer to your insatisfy customer, you should...
Read moreCame the afternoon before leaving to continue our travels, and popped in here for a cold one. We're fortunate to get Happy Hour, so stayed for two!! Whilst there, we looked at the food menu. It looked great, so we decided to come for lunch before leaving the following day. (We saw a couple getting bangers and mash, and it looked excellent)
We came around 1pm today, and I had the Full English, my wife had baked potato. Now I'm all for embracing the culture, food etc, but having had our fair share of Pad Thai, rice etc. we fancied a change.
The baked potato, was potato's! Two! With beans and cheese. It got pass marks 👍🏽
And I can say, hands down, mine, was the best breakfast I've had since we left UK. Good sausages (not the hot dog style I've tolerated in other places) great bacon (again, 10 times better than others) scrambled eggs, hash browns, beans, mushrooms, and BLACK PUDDING!!! Always a bonus! Also a couple of slices of toast...... There was also white pudding, which I wasn't too fond of, but overall, 9/10!!
Great food, very friendly staff, and would definitely come again. I gave 4 stars for the atmosphere, only because we were here at lunchtime, and around 5pm. They have live music at nights, and I've no doubt if we came then, it'd be a 5. Great location too, right on the beach.
Great little...
