Beyond confused at the high reviews this spot has.
Food was good but the service left a lot to be desired.
We were told we couldn’t sit anywhere near the front of the outdoor area despite almost every table being open. (My assumption being that we were two pretty men and not two pretty women.) We were offered a table right at the top of the stairs or a seat hidden inside.
When we sat down inside the hostess came back and dumped an assortment of 5 different menus on our plates and sauntered off before ensuring we had a grasp on the awkwardly sized books that were sliding off the table and onto the floor.
There are 100 employees working but it’s unclear who is doing what and it was only after the manager asked if we had placed our order that he finally get the server that had been hovering around us for 20 minutes to acknowledge our existence.
We ordered drinks, apps and mains. The apps flew out of the kitchen arriving long before our drinks. All of which was tasty - the spicy margarita was perfect.
About halfway through the meal, the birthday celebrations started at random tables across the restaurant and didn’t seem to stop. The energetic music would stop and an upbeat happy birthday song would play as less than enthusiastic staff would clap around a table before the birthday song would repeat and they’d visit another table with even less show of birthday merriment.
Our waiter disappeared halfway through our meal and we were served by a slightly more accommodating server, before paying as quickly as possible and escaping what felt like a never ending purgatory of confused, hairnet-clad wait staff and that god forsaken birthday song.
Definitely an experience but not exactly the experience I had been...
Read moreFantastic food, significant range of options. 3 seperate menus for Indian, Thai, and Turkish food. Pistachio kebab was fantastic. The prices do not include 7% VAT or 10% service charge.
Whilst the food was amazing, the service was extraordinarily disappointing. Whilst I can empathise with the challenge of serving a group of 8 after 8pm, the staff made several key mistakes which significantly reduced our enjoyment of the meal.
When ordering, our waiter flat out skipped one of our party. When ordering 3 different types of paneer curry, we were given 3 paneer tikas. It was also a shame that our French fries, a Thai rosella, a dish of rice, and a lovely lemonade cocktail were forgotten about until we enquired as there whereabouts.
In isolation, this may seem like the challenges of having a large group dinner after 8pm, these error were significantly compounded by an overcharge when paying the bill. As we attempted to split the payment, the cashier managed to forget one of our party had already paid their 668thb share (which included the 10% surcharge). When we explained that we had paid in full, he insisted we still owed 668thb.
After about 15 mins of back and forth, we were able to clear things up (without apologies from the cashier). When we brought our situation to the managers attention, he did apologise on behalf of the whole restaurant and offered to refund us for the almost 400thb service charge. Once again, these mistakes in isolation do seem like the challenges of group dining, but if you are going to enforce a compulsory service charge, it would be nice to have satisfactory service.
Overall, a shame that a place with such nice food and atmosphere was almost single-handedly ruined by...
Read moreSince you arrive to Zuri; ● firstly the staff will be welcoming you with their genuine smiles which will be the first and most unforgettable part of the dining experience you ll about to dive in to..
● I have picked a Negroni as my aperative drink which has a good kick and a neat presentation
● Wanted to give a try to their well known Butter Chicken accompanied by Cheese Naan and Steam Rice --- Presentation was cool but also didn't go far from traditional way; --- thickness of gravy was not too liquid nor very solid, it was on the perfect scale to enjoy with Naan and Rice. --- Regarding the taste, it was not too spicy to ruin the taste but also was not very vanilla; as a butter chicken fan, i enjoyed it pretty much --- even though it was a condiment, Cheese Naan itself could be a dish itself with generous filling, loved it!
● Lastly, i have tried the Mango Sticky Rice as the closing act; plate itself was pretty enough to make you not disassemble it, with proper picks of color contrast and assembly of unit to whole.
---- as a mango-lover and dessert enthusiast; it went really well with Coconut Ice Cream, quite refreshing finisher to a pleasant experience.
I can not thank enough to all the crew but specially to (as far as i can recall their names properly - hopefully - ) ; Ms. Yanny for the warm welcome, continous attention of Mr. Si Si and Mr. Felix with their kind attitude
** and grandly last but not least i would love to offer my thanks to Ms. Winne for her; suggestions over the menu, sincere conversation and genuine smile on her face all the time ..
It was an exquisite experience to complete my time in Phuket, can't wait to be...
