The beach and the water coupled with easy access to many shops and stores made Patong an ideal place to be. However, this area is a large tourist town and can get very crowded very quickly and stay that way for a long period of time. I remember waking up early one morning and walking down the street in Patong only to realize that it was the quietest it has ever been since I was there. I went back to my hotel and changed and my wife and I went for a walk to get some coffee only to find out that everything opened and all the tourists spilled out of their hotels and onto the street and beach.
