Me and friends stayed in this hotel for business. We didn't plan to leave the hotel, so I don't know about location and surroundings. We were in four different rooms and everyone was pleased.||Although we were dressed really informal, the staff treated us very well when we arrived. Which showed me they're not arrogant. People at the counter was so lovely! Smily and polite, like thai people normally are. ||At our rooms the first thing that caught our attention was the space. Really big rooms! Beds really nice and well made. Thoughtful details to make the room less impersonal. Nice blackout at the curtains gave us a nice darkness to sleep, even during day. ||Large space for luggage, clothing and a big dressing table with big mirror.||Bathroom was so clean and well maintained. I've been in numerous hotels in southeast Asia, and mould smell is almost a rule, but NOT in the Phuket Merlin Hotel. The bathtub was new, the water in the shower was powerful, and the sink also had hot water.||People changed our towels and sheets everyday.||The buffet was diverse and delicious. Again, staff so nice and thoughtful.||I can't think of bad things to say...
Read moreEven though this hotel was impressed as an old hotel, it was clean and the room was quite large. TV channels in the rooms was very limited. The breakfast menu was also limited. Wifi in the hotel room and lobby is quite good. And about the distance of this hotel to Patong area, the famous tourist center, is around 30-45 minutes by taxi. But you can use the shuttle car from this hotel to a newer hotel in the middle of Patong, the Patong Merlin Hotel. Only you have to pay attention to the shuttle car schedule between this two hotels. If you pass the schedule, you can use a taxi, which costs around 700-800 baths.||||In addition, from this hotel, you can just walk about 10 minutes to the Old Phuket Town which is quite famous and very clean. You can enjoy various accessories or merchandise shops, restaurants and coffee shops in this area. In addition, you can also visit the Sunday Night Market in this area. For those of you who want to enjoy Phuket city and look for 3 star hotels, this Phuket Merlin Hotel can be your option. And also one thing must also be considered, not too much of the hotel's staff can speak...
Read moreI chose this hotel only because my partner was hospitalized for over 16 days in a hospital near the hotel. Quite honestly, there weren't many hotels that close to the hospital (which I would want to stay in), and this one fit the bill. There's nothing outstanding about the hotel, however there's nothing terrible either! || ||The pros for the hotel:||The English spoken by the staff is often limited, however I found them universally friendly, which goes a long way in making a stay pleasant! || ||The wifi was strong, I was able to watch Netflix without problems, plus facetime daily with family back home. Bedding absolutely fine, as was the bed.||||The cons would be the breakfast, which was only adequate, not much more. Very limited selection. The food at the restaurant for diners was rather bland. ||||My time in the Phuket was incredibly stressful, with daily visits to the hospital. The hotel worked for me as a place I could sleep comfortably at the end...
