At 280 baht I was expecting a second rate hostel but was surprised to find it is actually a new bungalow with big rooms, big beds, clean bathrooms. 3 or 4 stories building. And it's modern and pretty everywhere. The bunk beds are big, some European bf/gf just slept on the same bed and left the other bed empty. The owner and staff are very nice and helpful. On weekends there is usually a trip to the bars/clubs or a swimming pool party at a 5 star hotel. I didn't see any drunk or irritating people staying here. Quite a few Japanese. The living room has a long table for socialising . Walk Inside the street, there are plenty of cheap eateries and even lively bars at night. Lumpini Park is not far for the fitness buff to go jogging or workout. Saladeang BTS and Silom MRT Stations are 10-15 min walk away. Sunday night market(food!) outside Saladeang Station and shopping mall. Restdot is good for couples and groups(there's a group room with 2 big beds I think) as well as solo travelers. The rooms are modern and not cramped. The windows are big but the rooms are dark with the curtains closed. The mattress is a bit firm but the owners might be adding paddings. I ended up staying ten days. A few others stayed longer. Highly recommended. It is near the Marriot Silom (tell Taxi) and many...
Read moreExceptionally clean rooms, good A/C, good location in Bangkok (close enough to the train station and nice area). Besides for the rock-hard bed, there is nothing wrong with the facilities. ||However, we found the hotel staff to either be unhelpful or completely absent. It was our first time in Bangkok and it would really have helped to have somebody explain to us some basics like transport and things to do. Bangkok is really intimidating without somebody to tell you about the area - it can be hard to navigate and disorientating. When we arrived, all we got was the key. When we had queries later, the staff seemed annoyed by our presence. It was also super frustrating trying to pay/get a towel when nobody was there. ||Maybe during the week the staff are more present. The one staff member seemed helpful and friendly, but we only saw her once whilst we were there. ||The poor service, combined with the hard bed, makes it really difficult to recommend this place for the price that we paid ($17/night for a double room with A/C). If you do decide to stay here, make sure you orientate yourself with...
