I stayed in a deluxe double room with twin beds and a beautiful river view. Overall, the experience was excellent, though there were a few aspects of the room and facilities that could be improved:- Bathroom layout: The sink is located outside the bathroom, in the hallway area of the room. For greater convenience and privacy, it would be better if the sink were integrated inside the bathroom itself.- Privacy concerns for roommates: The bathroom features a glass wall with a blind, but the blind didn’t fully cover one side, leaving a small gap that could compromise privacy—though we personally weren’t concerned. A larger or better-fitting blind would be helpful.- Air conditioning in the room: The unit was a bit noisy and could benefit from being quieter for a more comfortable stay.- Window design: The large window panel is fixed, and while there is a smaller section that could theoretically be opened, it was locked for security reasons. Allowing guests to open it slightly for fresh air would be ideal.- Soundproofing: Evening noise from the pool area and nearby party boats cruising the river was audible. Thankfully, the pool closes at night and boats stop cruising around 10pm, so it was very quiet afterward. Improved sound insulation on the windows would enhance comfort.- Bathroom ventilation: The exhaust fan was quite weak and didn’t effectively remove odors.- Air conditioning in common areas: The public spaces, like the lobby and restaurants, were a bit too cool—I found myself needing long sleeves indoors. Still, this is preferable to being overheated.- Electronic light control panel: The lighting controls in the room were somewhat confusing and not very intuitive. A simpler, more user-friendly design would be appreciated. That said, everything else was truly top-tier:- Location: The hotel sits just outside the busier central areas of Bangkok, which might not appeal to those seeking more "action". However, it’s perfect for travellers seeking a calmer, more peaceful riverside setting. The river surroundings at night are gorgeous, and it’s within walking distance of Asiatique, making it easy to enjoy evening strolls, dining, and shopping.- Hotel appearance: The property itself is stunning—elegant, modern, and beautifully designed throughout.- Staff: The concierge, reception, waiters, and other staff were exceptional—warm, helpful, and professional.- Welcome drinks and snacks: A thoughtful and much-appreciated touch upon arrival.- Dining options: We tried the à la carte restaurant, which offered high-quality food with a wide variety of delicious options, featuring both authentic Thai and international cuisines. We did not try the buffet or the Chinese restaurants (more expensive). - Breakfast buffet: Absolutely amazing, with an incredible variety of both local and international dishes including Japanese, Korean, Indian, and Western cuisines, plus delicious bakery options (both Western and Asian), a cheese station, fresh fruits, and even ice cream! The sheer variety was superb. Breakfast starts at 6am, which is very convenient for early departures on tours.- Cafe/bar: They have a cafe/bar where you can buy cakes and sweets, with takeaway discounts after 6pm.- Tour desk: Conveniently located next to reception, the tour desk provided excellent service. Communication was clear and prompt, and they organised all our tours seamlessly, making the process completely stress-free.- Evening entertainment: piano player and singer - Additional amenities: Complimentary Wi-Fi, free tuk tuk service to Asiatique (only to Asiatique and not back to the hotel but it's within walking distance), a gym, and a pool were all great extras.Overall, this was a fantastic stay at a truly beautiful hotel. With just a few small improvements, it could...

Stayed: Deluxe Twin Room with River View.|Fabulous stay! A few minor areas could be improved, but everything else was exceptional.||PROS: ||* Location: the hotel enjoys a calm riverside setting, just outside Bangkok’s busy central areas. Perfect for travelers seeking peace. The river views at night are stunning, and Asiatique is within walking distance, making evening strolls, dining, and shopping very convenient.||* Hotel appearance: modern, elegant, and beautifully designed throughout, with a luxurious and welcoming atmosphere.||* Staff: exceptional service at every point. Concierge, reception, waiters, and other staff were all warm, helpful, and professional.||* Welcome drinks and snacks: a thoughtful touch upon arrival, offering a relaxing start to the stay.||* Dining Options: various restaurant options on-site. We tried the retaurant with the À la carte menu which offered a wide range of delicious Thai and international dishes. The quality of food, presentation, and service were excellent. We did not try the dinner Buffet option or the Chinese restaurants (more expensive however they did look delicious). ||* Breakfast buffet: breakfast was outstanding, with an incredible variety including local Thai dishes, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, and Western options. There were bakery items (Asian, French, and American style), a cheese station, fresh fruits, and even ice cream. Breakfast starts at 6am, ideal for early departures.||* Cafe / Bar: serves cakes, sweets, and drinks. Takeaway orders after 6pm enjoy a discount, which is a nice touch.||* Evening entertainment: live piano and singing performances in the lobby/bar area created a lovely, relaxing atmosphere.||* Tour desk: conveniently located next to reception, providing clear communication and seamless organisation for tours. Stress-free and professional service.||* Free tuk tuk service to Asiatique (does not include return but it's within walking distance).||* Gym and pool: well-maintained and great for relaxing or staying active.||------------------------||SUGGESTIONS: ||* Bathroom layout: the sink is located outside the bathroom, in the hallway. Integrating it inside the bathroom would improve convenience and privacy.||* Privacy: the bathroom has a glass wall with a blind, which leaves a very small gap on one side. A better-fitting blind would enhance privacy.||* Air conditioning: the room AC was a bit noisy so I had to use ear plugs to sleep||* Windows: the large window panel is fixed; the small section that could open was locked for security. Being able to open it slightly for fresh air would be ideal.||* Soundproofing: evening noise from the pool and river boats was noticeable, but after 10pm it was very quiet (the biggest noise was from the air con). ||* Bathroom ventilation: the exhaust fan was weak and didn’t remove odours effectively.||* Electronic light controls: room’s light panel was a little confusing; a simpler, more intuitive design would be appreciated.||* Air-con in the common areas eg lobby / restaurant: slightly cold, so so it’s a good idea to bring a light layer or sweater if you tend to feel cold.||This was a fantastic stay at a beautiful hotel. The combination of location, design, exceptional staff, and excellent breakfast and à la carte dining made it very memorable. With just a few small improvements, it could easily be perfect. BEWARE: there's a construction going on at the pool. It's super noisy, you can hear it in the rooms (loud and clear) and can't relax at the pool. Apparently gonna last until October 2025.

Extremely disappointing experience – definitely not a 5-star hotel!

Our stay at the Ramada Plaza Riverside Bangkok was a major disappointment from start to finish:

Constant construction noise made it impossible to relax — neither by the pool (the main reason we chose this hotel) nor in our room, where the loud noise was clearly audible. This major construction work was not announced anywhere on the hotel’s website or booking platforms. When we asked the reception why they did not inform guests beforehand, they simply said: "We tell you at check-in" — meaning when it’s already too late. Ironically, no one actually informed us at check-in; we discovered it ourselves the next morning, awakened by the noise.

We arrived late, around midnight, and had to ask ourselves about the welcome drink we were promised. We were directed to a random room with coffee, water, and a few snacks — hardly a warm or professional welcome.

Our bathtub was dirty, and the water initially flowed over the edge before draining into the tub. Absolutely unacceptable for a so-called 5-star property.

The reception staff provided poor service. We spent half a day repeatedly explaining our issues, having to instruct them on basic service expectations ourselves. Instead of a meaningful apology or compensation, we were only offered a different room and access to the happy hour. Some of them don't speak English very well.

The pool was dirty already early in the morning, showing a clear lack of maintenance and care.

Despite requesting vegan breakfast options in advance (during booking and again at check-in), the only foods we could eat were salad, fruit, and bread with peanut butter and jam. At check-in we were brushed off with the comment that it was an “international buffet” — extremely poor for a hotel of this category. There's also no fresh juices at breakfast, if you want one, you have to pay for it. Never have I experienced this in a 5 star hotel in Thailand.

The hotel is visibly worn and outdated, with heavy signs of wear and tear.

Due to a mistake, we booked breakfast for two people even though one guest left earlier. We asked for a refund or an alternative service (laundry, bar credit, etc.), as would be customary in a truly guest-focused hotel. The hotel refused, showing no flexibility or goodwill — especially frustrating after all the previous issues.

Overall conclusion: This is definitely not a 5-star hotel. Most of the staff are poorly trained, if trained at all, and the management seems solely focused on making quick money rather than providing good service or building guest loyalty. We would not recommend this...

Massive disappointment in this hotel. The communal spaces are beautiful but this is where the good ends. I booked the King Deluxe Suite and it wasn't cheap. What a mistake. In the advertised pictures, it looks great! In real life, it was shody and in very poor disrepair. Please see all the photos I have included to show you the poor cleaning and knocked about furniture. They do NOT deserve their SIA Sanitisation Certificate at all. Every piece of furniture was grubby, sticky and knocked about. Not one stick of furniture was in clean and repaired condition. Sinks all were clogged, but weirdly, the plugs didn't work to hold water. Tap wear was corroded and dirty. Mirrors were splattered with goodness knows what. Dust and grime was built up on every crevice of furniture. Do NOT STAND ON THE FLOOR RUGS IN BARE FEET! Your feet will need washing after as they will be so sticky, they will stick to the rest of the plastic covered floor as you walk across it. The lamps were all flaked and old. The electronic device for turning lights and such on and off next to the worn out, sagging bed was broken with exposed wires but still powered. Our bags took more than an hour to be bought to our room, and that was only done because I rang several times to ask for them. They couldn't even find them at one stage. The lady who checked me in at reception was really snooty and acted like she was too good to talk to me. It felt like her face would break if she decided to ever smile. She was not a pleasant or welcoming person. The doormen rarely opened doors, or smiled. There were two nice staff members though... the nice mature tour lady and the very polite lift man. Sad only 2 staff were hospitable. Please look around for other options... I would be sad if you wanted your precious money on this very bad hotel.

Ramanda Plaza by Wyndham Bangkok Menam Riverside was highly appreciated by our group. We were able to check-in relatively easily, and were even able to add an additional, perviously unregistered guest to the room free of charge. The rooms could have been better quality… in one room, the USB plugs on one side of the bed did not work, and the lighting was also a big hassle, because you had to keep the master lighting on in order to turn on the lights in the bathroom. Also, we did not like the design that meant that the sink and mirror was outside of the toilet and shower room. In another room, we plugged in a device, and all of the lights in the room malfunctioned and blacked out the energy supply of the room. Luckily, a hotel electrician was able to come and resolve the issue.* Also, it took quite a while for drinks service at the pool… around 30 minutes just for three drinks! One of the waiters was also unhelpful, saying he couldn’t get us any water, and we would have to get it from the lobby. The most regular waitress made up for it with her politeness and good service. Aside from this, the service at the hotel was very good. It was very convenient for us to take the hotel shuttle boat to the Central Pier, which allows exchange to other public transport systems, including the public ferries. There are a lot of establishments nearby the hotel which suited us. One 24 hour 7-11 convenience store was just on the corner, there is a bar open until 2 a.m. right next to the hotel, a number of places and stalls to buy food nearby (including an amazing Phad Thai cart just down the road— 2 egg Phad Thai for 50 Baht!) and it’s right next to the Asiatique shopping centre, which itself boasts a variety of bars and restaurants. If we come to Bangkok, we would definitely stay here again!
