I am not even sure where to start. This people are scamming their guests in any way possible. We stayed 2 nights in total and escaped from this place 1 day earlier. The room they gave us in our first night seemed fine as we dropped of our luggage and left the room. There was a heavy room perfume, but we didn’t mind it. After we returned to our room in the evening, there was a DISGUSTING SEWAGE SMELL in the room. So naturally, we tried to air the room a bit by opening the entrance door but it didn’t work at all. So we used our perfume to fix it, it worked only for 5 minutes. In this “peaceful” 5 minutes, we discovered that fitted sheets were full of hairs and dirts. Then, DISGUSTING SEWAGE SMELL came back. We did what everyone would do in our situation: I went down to the reception to complain. Well, I was naive. There was no one in the reception, and security person was snoring so loud in the entrance. So I went back to my room and sprayed the room again in shifts in every 5-10 minutes until me and my partner both passed out. Next day, I found the reception lady and called her to our room. She was also immediately DISGUSTED by the SEWAGE smell and changed the room. I said I went down in the evening to complain but there was no one. And receptionist replied: “sorry, we were fully booked yesterday.” Sheets we were given in the new room were was also dirty. We complained again and they changed it. They just play fool and act surprised when you address the problems. So, we were so disgusted by their behaviour and traumatised by the DISGUSTING SEWAGE SMELL, that I am pretty sure we lost our sense of smell (and our trust in humanity) at some point and decided to leave the place earlier. Side story: let me tell you something about the breakfast. It is served the evening before actually, when they host a party in the common area (in case you didn’t have a problem sleeping yet). Some of the leftovers will be served the next morning in a room charmed with another odour, one smelling like pee this time. Let’s say you wanted to enjoy a cup of coffee, oh boy, get ready for the worst coffee anyone drank in their life. I am dead serious, there is no way a coffee can taste any worse. Anyways, so wanted to leave the place earlier and asked for a refund for the 1st night. Look, not even for the whole stay given everything we went through and all the trauma. Long story short, they denied our request because they believe they “fixed” our problem by changing the room (logic leaves the earth). They said we should have complained when we first encountered with the problem, although I already went downstairs and there was no one to complain, except snoring security person. I invited them to check the security cameras together but they didn’t care. Because this is all they do: they don’t care. So because I couldn’t find someone to complain, and hence I couldn’t complaint, I was responsible?? But this is not going to end here, I will further proceed with my complaint to the ministry of tourism. These people ruined our holiday with their attitude, hospitality and DISGUSTING SEWAGE SMELL. 5 star? What a JOKE. This place must be removed from any website. I hope you read this comment before booking this place. If you read it after booking, cancel it even at the cost of paying full price. I promise any place you will find on this website will be better.

Basically an astonishing looking place, with low to zero knowledge about tourism and welcoming clients. Your stay can be very nice or a nightmare, it's a bet. Let me explain. The photos are true. The house is amazing, and most of the rooms take you back in time. Rooms are split in 3 categories, traditional, historic and grand historic. Looks like for the upper two you'll get a good room, as for the traditional the quality varies a lot so you'll have to ask before or be lucky. We were on the unlucky side in which not even the bad ones were available, so they put us in a room that doesn't even show up on their website (see the photo), and for good reasons. We complained a lot and the "solution" for the overbooking that day was to give us the right room the day after, without any refund. No light, back hidden room, sewage smell. 5 stars...? After stress, complaining, no signs of solution, the day after we were moved to the right place, a gorgeous room on the upper floor followed by several times the question if we were happy now, as it was a favor to give us a good one. For reference, room 15, great view, space and shower. We had no issues with cleanliness, things looked good. No kettle, tea, or complimentary water though. The following two days were on the good side. The location is really good inside the medina. Accessible from a main street behind if you don't want to pass by the alleys at night or through a sort of main street inside the souk, most of it. Don't make the shortest path in and out, very sketchy. Really close to the big mosque. Breakfast focused on a sweet Tunisian style, with the added omelette, coffee made on the spot and different options every day. Not a huge buffet but very nice and people were very welcoming. Finally, on the last day, the room wasn't cleaned, no bed making, no refilled shampoo etc, alright.. no signs of anyone talking to us about the refund or compensation for the first day. Next morning, we check out, they ask about the mini bar which we didn't get anything from. Even after saying we didn't, they asked to wait as one of the employees were going to check... 😅 Either trust or don't, and the refund? Nothing, have a nice trip 👍 The booking website also couldn't contact them and help us with the refund. Conclusion from all reviews: if you want to risk and book, don't pay before they show you the room you're staying in. Avoid rooms on the ground floor due to parties and smell. Don't expect 5 star service, enjoy the beautiful house and room you conquered after some fight. We didn't eat in the restaurant so won't comment.

The hotel is gorgeous, it’s very elegant. A real historic building with a traditional Hammam. The suites are elegant but lack light . Upon arrival Sami was awaiting me outside to welcome me and bring my luggage inside. Sami intermediated in a proper way to make sure I would not be overcharged by the taxi driver. The general manager does not speak English and understands very little, I needed a staff member to translate when I had an issue. I had been waiting for 50 minutes to get an iron and ironing board delivered to my room and after the third time speaking to Nour, the receptionist, without any result, the security guard assisted me and brought it up. He is very formal and polite. The receptionist did not intend to make amends for it. When mentioning it to the general manager, he responded defensively that the receptionist is very professional. I wanted to extend one more night and Zaida, the receptionist said they had no suites available which was not true, as I checked on Booking.com and 2 staff members confirmed that there were suites available. I even saw later when I was in the reception lounge area that she offered 2 guests an upgrade to different suites. The general manager made an issue about storing my luggage at my checkout until later that night. Early n the afternoon he told me I had to go with my luggage. It is not at all the hospitality of a luxury hotel. The way he was dressed was also not suited for the type of hotel; leisure wear is not the appropriate attire. The food at the restaurant was overpriced for the quality. The maître was extremely nice and professional. He was the most accommodating of the entire staff. The breakfast has a very basic selection which was another disappointment. Only one type of fruit, the honey was not really honey, it was a syrup served with a honey dipper. Ir is not cleaned well in any part of the hotel. The room maids are very loud early in the morning and the rooms are not soundproof. The WiFi wasn’t working in my suite.

The photos are true. The house is amazing, and most of the rooms take you back in time. Rooms are split in 3 categories, traditional, historic and grand historic.
