Bedbugs

It’s a nice old house with history and that is the reason why I came here. However, when I arrived the owner was not very friendly. It was obvious that racism was involved since my skin colour is not what she expected from Canada.

In the middle of the night I was woken up by bug bites and at first I thought maybe it’s just mosquito bites so I turned on the lights to try to find the mosquito, but to my horror, there were bedbugs crawling around me on the bed. So I packed my bags and left.

When confronted, the owner tried to shift the blame and denied having an infestation even when I have proof. She tried to gaslight me into thinking the bedbugs were from me or other travellers’ luggage. However, after I left, I had no more problems with bedbugs. I didn’t have any bedbugs in my clothes or in my luggage. Never did and never will because I am clean and responsible and I don’t like to bring trouble to others. AND I don’t gaslight people.

The place is listed as a hotel but it was more like a homestay with the host present. My hosts were very hospitable but there were inconveniences with broken facilities and misleading information on the listing page that I booked with. |The room was listed with private bathroom but had only a shared one. The Wifi was broken and I could only access the net by tethering with my host’s cellphone. However, we could not use Wifi at late hours. The shower room is cold, especially during the winter time. My room had the bare amenities with only a bed, closet, and table. My room was adjacent to the living room could not be locked, meaning no complete privacy.I asked the host for a towel, which wasn’t in my room during check in, and she sighed behind my back within earshot.
