The hotel was in a lovely location, not too far from the main sights: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern.|The rooms were quite small, but clean and light, and the breakfast was very tasty.|I think it was really good value for money.|The only issue with the location was that taxis struggled to find it, so we ended up being dropped off/picked up from about 5-10 mins away.|The staff were very polite and helpful (in particular, the doorman and the lady serving breakfast) and the receptionist was nice, but he did make a faux-pas!|I visited with 2 male friends (I was the only female), and we're all around the same age, 42/43.|When the one friend checked out, the receptionist asked whether he'd had a lovely stay with his "brother and mother!" It wasn't a joke, but my friend took much delight in that question and certainly didn't correct him. That misjudgement brought much joy to my other friend too, so they will now forever have ammunition to mock me as the receptionist clearly thought I looked like I was in my 60s! Needless to say, I will book a return flight ASAP to get a face-lift (as I noticed a lot of the passengers on the return flight had done on their...
Review of Dream Bosphorus Hotel (Istanbul):
Dream Bosphorus Hotel left me with mixed feelings. Starting with the location: it’s situated near the railway station, which is convenient for travelers using trains. However, getting to the Bosphorus turned out to be a hassle — I had to walk around an entire block, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the area is decent but far from "ideal."
The room was the biggest downside. It was extremely cramped — roughly 3x4 meters, and the bathroom was even tinier (about 1.5x1 meters). For two people, it felt nearly impossible to move around: our suitcases barely fit, and we had to take turns navigating the space. The furniture was outdated, the wallpaper was peeling in places, there was visible mold in the shower, and the laminate flooring was worn and stained. It felt like the room hadn’t been renovated in years. The view from the window was also underwhelming — nothing special.
I ended up at this hotel by accident: my usual choice was fully booked, and I didn’t have time to reserve something else in advance due to the sudden trip. Maybe other rooms are better, but my experience was far from pleasant.
Breakfast — haven’t tried it yet; I’ll update the review later.
Verdict: A last-resort option if other hotels are full or you need a budget stay near the station. For a comfortable stay, especially for couples, it’s not ideal — the tight space and outdated rooms leave much to be desired. If you value comfort and space, look for...
Read moreThe hotel is a quaint hotel in the historic area of İstanbul. Please be mindful that most taxi drivers hesitate to drive to the hotel as the road are narrow, lots of one way traffic and jammed with traffic. The hotel is clean, relatively newer but the rooms are very small, not enough space to keep your suitcases open, the view of Bosporus is ok and nothing like what it appears advertised. The staff are great and the service is great. The rooms are very clean and fresh. We had pre-booked this hotel before and after our tour. I would have likely gone elsewhere if I had the opportunity to cancel because of two issues- traffic jam and inability to get a taxi and rooms were too small, especially we were travelling for 3 weeks and had 2 large suitcases, none of which we could open( 2-3 days stay each...
