This was my first stay at a Movenpick hotel and I was very, very impressed. Why? Because:
The hotel is beautifully designed and maintained. Quite elegant in fact. The lobby area fireplace and bar area were wonderful! I spent many hours there working on my computer, reading or enjoying something from the bar and soaking up the ambience. Warm and Cozy. The hotel restaurant (Plus) is fabulous! You have an excellent support staff with great food that is very reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was the best I've seen in a very long time. The only one that might compare is the Hotel Bristol in Vienna. I loved the variety and freshness. I had a standard room and it was small but very clean and comfortable. Service was done early in the day and was quite thorough. The fitness center was basic but met my needs. If there is one thing I would recommend you do to improve, it's have a larger fitness center with more weights. The location was superb! It's right next to a very large Ankara mall called "Armada." It's a lovely mall with great shops and MANY wonderful restaurants that I enjoyed sampling. Great staff! Your front end, lobby and restaurant staff were uniformly helpful and pleasant. Went out of their way to greet me every single time I walked by the front desk and always smiled.
FYI - I have traveled all over the world and have stayed in some fabulous hotels in Europe, the USA, the Middle East and Asia. The Ankara Movenpick is now one of my Top 5 hotels (FYI - the other four are the London Ritz, the Sacher Hotel in Vienna, the Parnas Intercontinental in Seoul and the Ritz Carlton in Abu Dhabi). You should be very proud of your Ankara property. It's...
Read moreFirst time staying at a Movenpick property and didn't know what to expect. This was for a business trip and the Movenpick Ankara was close to where I needed to be. Other than the location (right next to a huge mall that has everything you can imagine) and the fact that all the taxi drivers seems to pick where the hotel is (very convenient), there was nothing else worth complimenting. The rooms can be so-so but I just can't stand bad service. The front desk staff always appear uninterested and cold whenever I have a question. They were not helpful in terms of giving me any tips on where to go or what areas are worth going. They kind of just brush you off. What is worse is that they double charged a couple of my colleagues which was a total nightmare which they finally sorted out at the end of our one week stay. Maybe because of what Turkey was going through people were unhappy that is why the service was so terrible? But then as soon as I moved to the Sheraton Ankara, I was met with friendly faces and attentive service again. Can't recommend this place at all. Clean rooms, solid 3 star. Great location. Great candy and chocolate cart at night which was very cute. Breakfast has a bit of variety but I think it is pretty...
Read moreThe hotel is in a good location near the restaurants and shopping centers, hotel staff is nice, helpful, very good breakfast menu. However the internet is poor, the communication was poor. Additionally, the hotel requires payment on their payment during the booking, when we went there reception said that booking payment is blocked due to their system, it will be released if we accommodate to room. Also, they asked if the payment should be taken on blocked payment, or should we pay with a different card. We said we will pay with a different card. and asked do not to take that blocked payment. We paid with different card not to touch to the card which we indicate during the booking, however, the Hotel took from both money. which means we paid a double price than the normal price. we approached to the reception, they said booking card payment will be sent back to our bank account back, but it has not happened. So far they seem happy to have double price to the room because we have not approached yet by hotel about the status of that payment. So be careful on your payments, they are not eager to pay back when they take double price...
