Stayed here for the Christmas holiday 2023. It was awful. The Somerset is a building boom era property (undoubtedly built in 2007) that has not been updated since. The rooms, while spacious , are, at best, dated and not maintained. (I put in several work orders while there to repair obvious problems) I found the VCR in my bedroom telling. The exhaust fan in my bathroom was broken when I arrived and was not functional when I left. Who owns this property? The rusted out freezer drawer in the kitchen (see photos) was shocking. Who would cook in such a place? The ice maker was broken when I checked in and was still broken when I checked out. Rather than fix it, the hotel provided guests a bag of ice. The food service is provided by an independent contractor and they cannot cook. Note: the food service provider charges you separately…billing is not through the hotel. (And they caused problems for me with my credit card company) The food is horrible. There is an unsafe amount of stairs you have to climb to get to the rooms, to get to the pools, to get to the beach, to get to the restrooms, to get to the restaurants. Most of these have no railings and are not safe. This place was built by morons. Worse yet, they have a beach bbq on Tuesdays. The food is not edible. And the event is rather what I imagine a drunken East-coast frat party attended by idiots would be like. What is marketed as a “beach bbq” with grilled fish is a white-trash rodeo with below-par cafeteria food hosted largely for the amusement of the food provider’s staff, who dance inappropriately at the event. The event was an embarrassing and a pathetic display by the hotel to the educated world. No educated person wants to see Nadia (one of the food provider’s staff) grind her hips like that. Particularly at an event attended by a large number of young children. These people have no class. And the WIFI is slow, unreliable and goes out at the drop of a hat. When combined with the horrible airport, I recommend people go elsewhere. It takes 3 hours to get through security. Go elsewhere. This is not a “hotel”, rather is a a failing condo trying to survive as a hotel. It was built as a condo and does not have the equipment one would find necessary in a hotel, and guests suffer the consequences. We had no water in our rooms for 24 hours because the local municipality’s water supple could not provide the volume required and the Somerset does not have the required plumbing installed to compensate. I note that a negative review like this would most commonly result in a response from the hotel. No response? Because the place is a mess. Avoid at all costs. The positive reviews you see for this joint are from the owners of the units who cannot afford to update the rusting kitchens and the vcr’s. Look…the Turks is going all inclusive and the island is paying the price. Go elsewhere!!!!

This is our 6th time visiting Provo, but our first time staying at the Somerset. And we’ll never stay anywhere else. We were there for our 25th wedding anniversary, and can’t imagine a more perfect vacation. And most of that is due to the Somerset being such a special place. The service is impeccable, and every single person who works here is incredibly kind, warm and welcoming. We’ve never felt so treated like royalty in our lives. It feels like a community that's been together forever, and we even made several new friends. A big thank you to Stevonya, Berry, Leraud, Juvanie, Salomon, Madan and all the other phenomenal employees who made us feel like family! They are as good as it gets. (And the rum punch upon arrival is the best I've ever tasted.) The villa is truly stunning, inviting, comfy and felt like home the moment we walked in the door. The peacefulness was something we desperately needed, and we slept like babies every night. The pools are absolutely magnificent, and there's never any competition to get a chaise lounge either there or on the beach. We loved the Somerset so much that we’re thinking of inquiring about purchasing a unit in the future, as we now know we’ll never be staying anywhere else. Thank you to everyone at the Somerset for a magical 25th anniversary!

This condo hotel is great. Rooms are big (but little a dated for the nightly price), all relatively close to the beach, lots of free beach activities, great location, friendly staff… except the restaurant. The restaurant has sub par food that doesn’t match the resort. the service is slow, inaccurate and manny of the staff are unfriendly. The nickel and diming for “included” breakfast is a turn off. The bbq on the beach buffet was actually very good but the check in process was a nightmare. We waited on line for 15-20 mins right as the sun was setting so we missed that. Also, the staff added extra tip on my credit card at one of the meals and I was charged for lunch after I already left (the people checking in after us had a meal at the beach bar and Barbetta charged my credit card on file). The restaurant needs new management and better food. Go next door to Bay Bistro for an awesome meal at a more reasonable price.

The Somerset on Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos – Guest Review Overall Experience: ★★★★☆

Location: ★★★★★ The Somerset on Grace Bay enjoys a prime location, less than half a mile from town, with the added convenience of complimentary resort bicycles. The easy access to local amenities and attractions makes it an ideal choice for visitors looking to explore the area.

Condo Unit - Sterling 304: ★★★★★ Sterling 304 offers a generously sized accommodation with a large balcony that boasts stunning views of the resort's pool and the ocean beyond. The unit features two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, and a spacious open floor plan adorned with comfortable, stylish furniture reminiscent of Restoration Hardware. The kitchen is well-appointed with high-end Viking appliances, and the marble or travertine flooring throughout adds a touch of elegance. Practical amenities like in-unit laundry facilities enhance convenience, allowing for lighter travel packing. Housekeeping and turn-down service were consistently excellent.

Pool Area: ★★★★★ The pool complex at The Somerset is exceptional, featuring a long lap pool that transitions into a smaller pool and culminates in a vast infinity pool. The design and maintenance of the pool area are impeccable, with plenty of chaise lounges available. Pool and beach attendants are attentive and proactive. However, the location of the pool bar and restaurant, while offering good food and service, is a bit tucked away, missing the scenic ocean views that neighboring resorts provide.

Beach: ★★★★★ The beach at The Somerset is as breathtaking as one would expect from a top-rated global destination. Its pristine beauty and tranquil atmosphere are perfect for relaxation and seaside activities.

Restaurant - Barbetta: ★★★★☆ Barbetta provides a charming setting for dining, especially for breakfast which is included. The decor is beautiful, and the ambiance is welcoming, though the restaurant is not located waterfront, which might be a missed opportunity for those seeking ocean-view dining experiences.

Front Desk and Concierge Services: ★★★★★ The service at the front desk and concierge was very accommodating. The staff was always available and eager to assist, enhancing our stay with their helpfulness and hospitality.

Additional Comments: The construction of a nearby St. Regis, visible from the pool, introduces some noise, though it is not overly disruptive and does not affect the beach or condo’s tranquility. The out-of-service elevator was a minor inconvenience, potentially problematic for guests needing to transport heavier items. The gym, while equipped with the essentials, does not match up to the other luxurious amenities offered by the resort.

Pro Tip: Consider getting FastTrack for expedited arrival and departure at the airport. Lines can get extremely long especially on the weekends.

Conclusion: The Somerset on Grace Bay offers a beautiful setting with superb service and well-appointed condos. Despite a few minor drawbacks, our stay was delightful, and we would definitely...

The Somerset continues to shine. This was our 5th trip to the Somerset and it continues to exceed our expectations! Stevonya and Tanya made sure we were assigned the perfect room. The front desk staff welcomes us back with open arms, and I’m not kidding when I say that. We love to be greeted by the same smiling faces year after year. Beverly, Berry, Billy, Foster, Leraud, JanCarlos, and Jahnson now all seem like family. They were continuously checking in, offering assistance, and arranging transportation! We were greeted with refreshing cool towels, rum punch, and our vacation began. This was our first tip in May and it will not be our last! The weather was perfect and the beach was quieter than the previous summer months when we visited. A shout out to AJ and Collin at the pool ,as well as Mr. Big for the excellent service and yummy drinks. There was another bartender/server that was outstanding but I did not get his name. There were always clean towels, sunscreen, and water available. Guests could use floats, paddle boards, kayaks, or sailboats if inclined. The lounge chairs are plentiful both at the pool and the beach, and they are so comfortable. The food at the pool is very good, and breakfast was included with our room rate. I personally love the crystal clear water and the beach. The beach staff was attentive and supplied us with water, towels, and a few times a mid-day refreshing cool treat! |I recommend the Monday night managers cocktail reception. It’s a nice event, you can visit with other guest, and make new friends. We did not attend the Tuesday night BBQ but we have in the past and enjoyed it immensely. We had arrived on a Tuesday and it was going on during our first night. We enjoyed listening to the deejay from our patio and we could see everyone was having a great time. The rooms all seem to have wonderful views of the beautiful pools and/or beach. We have always been assigned the Sterling House rooms. Our room this year, as in the past, was perfection! Thank you Jamesiline for keeping it spotless daily. The rooms are spacious and well air conditioned. I wish I could stay for months at a time. |I should also mention that there are bike you can use to ride to town or take to other restaurants. We always enjoy our bike adventures. Visiting Turks and Caicos is truly the most relaxing vacation I can think of. The Somerset has once again provided my family with a memorable week of sun, sand, and superb accommodations! I will count the days until we can return! Thank you everyone for your outstanding...
