My Stay in Turks and Caicos at Island Club Turks Grace Bay
In my search for a place to stay in Turks and Caicos, I reviewed many options, I checked amenities, websites, location, safety and customer reviews. The Island Club Turks ranked high in all areas checked. The reviews spoke highly regarding the service they received, which is a big plus for me and one of the main reason I chose Island Club Turks Grace Bay over other locations.
After booking, I receive an email asking if I had any questions or concerns, I had several (1st time on TCI) and I received a prompt response every time an email was sent, I took this as a good sign.
Prior to arriving in Turks and Caicos, airport transfer arrangements were made with K’s Taxi and Tours, an Island Club Turks Grace Bay recommendation($11 per person). Kalvin, the driver was wonderful, personable and safe. He made himself available to us throughout our stay, he felt like a friend from the moment my friends and I met him.
Kalvin called Island Club Turks Bay as we approached the property, letting them know we would be there shortly. Upon our arrival, the outer appearance of Island Club Turks Grace Bay was deceiving, you really couldn’t tell the gem it was from the outside. When I went into the office, I was greeted by “Love” her kind and inviting demeanor, was very welcoming. “Love” took us to our deluxe two bedroom apartment, it definitely nice for the price (2 floors, small front balcony facing Grace Bay Rd, Master Bedroom balcony facing pool, 1.5 bathrooms, WI-FI, full kitchen, utensils, furnished patio with grill…etc). The deluxe units are clean but a little dated, supreme units are updated and eventually all units will be. I also was informed Island Club Turks, Grace Bay is expanding to a property next door, and will have more units available.
Island Club Turks, Grace Bay is perfectly located on Grace Bay Rd, close to the beach, coffee shops, great restaurants, grocery store, ice cream shops, souvenir shops and a casino, that area all within a safe 5-10 minute walk.
Most importantly, the customer service at Island Club Turks, Grace Bay was absolutely wonderful, from our arrival to my departure, we felt welcomed, like we were a guest in someone’s home. On a daily basis, we always received a warm greeting from the staff. Anna, Love, Keke, also checked to make sure we had whatever we needed and provided information and area directions when needed. Scott who I believe is doing the upgrades on both properties was recruited by another staff member to inflate my large floating peacock and although it was never actually inflated, it definitely wasn’t because of his lack of trying.
We throughly enjoyed our 5 day stay at Island Club Turks, Grace Bay. However, in our preparation to return back to Chicago I received news that I tested positive for Covid and had to stay, my friends were negative and able to leave. In total disbelief, anxiety high I reached out to the Island Club Turks staff, their understanding and concern for my well being was awesome. Even though I had to quarantine, I never felt alone. Anna checked on me daily via the Whatsup App, dropped lunch off on the patio and even went to the grocery store for a few items. I will forever be grateful for Anna’s kindness, it was truly above and beyond. I also must state, whenever I sat out on my balcony, the Island Club Turks staff would always greet me with a smile and ask how I was doing, I felt like they all genuinely cared.
In conclusion, as a seasoned traveler I’m definitely a fan of the Island Club Turks, Grace Bay. The location, accommodations cleanliness and size, on site security and most importantly the customer service has made me the Island Club Turks biggest fan, my expectations were...
Read moreThis was a great choice for our week long trip with two couples. I was a little concerned about the 1-1/2 bath, but it wasn’t a problem at all. The location is walking distance to the beach, restaurants, other hotels and shopping. The unit was very clean and offered everything you need (plates, cups, silverware, blender, oven, bbq, towels, blow dryer (hair), beach towels, paper towels, soap…but no shampoo or conditioner.
The staff was great; friendly and helpful. AJ was our go-to contact for information and assistance.
The hotel offers chairs at Grace Bay beach which were easy to reserve. The office also has folding chairs, umbrellas for use. The pool is clean and offered pool toys, snorkel gear and shaded areas and plenty of lounge chairs for with a relaxing vibe.
The other people staying at the hotel (families, girls trip and individuals). were nice, polite and respected quiet times.
We rented a car from Sixt at the airport. It was nice to have a car to explore the island and get groceries, and we had a very good experience with them - fast, affordable, and good vehicle.
We read that food prices on the island were expensive, so we packed snacks - cashews, chips, beef jerky, chocolate and other snacks (it has to be unopened and in the original packaging). Some other people at the hotel packed frozen meat for grilling (original packaging). That was a good idea! You can drink the faucet water so that helps keep cost down on having to buy bottled water/ice.
The liquor was surprisingly decent for prices; purchase local rum, and local Turk head beer (Lite), etc. just slightly higher than you would pay in the US.
Eating out will be expensive, mixed drinks and wine are $15-$25. Meals are $25+ per person. Pizza pizza was the best value at $24 for a full pizza and it’s located close to the hotel.
SUGGESTIONS; Wednesday go to Conch Shack for the dinner show at 8 pm, make reservations at 7:30 pm to beat the rush. The food is very good and lively atmosphere!
Thursday don’t miss the fish fry at Mr groupers. It’s like a mini state fair with 10 food truck options and local artists, soaps, t-shirts, souvenirs, etc. Go early, 5 pm, it gets busy
Drinks/appetizer stops: Shark Bite and Mango Reef restaurant (right by each other) Rock house amazing views, must see! WOW. In Provo Danny Bouys, Coco Bistro. Omar’s beach hut has a chill vibe (while you are at Omar's stop at the next building south (little strip mall), for fresh catch low cost fish, lobster...2 lobster tails were only $30).
Snorkeling at Smith’s Reef was good but the 1/2 day tour through Island Powerboat Adventure to West Caicos was the best. Bight Reef was a waste of time, but maybe good with little ones because it's right off the beach.
MUST SEE: We took the ferry to North Turks and rented a car from Al's which was another good experience for a day trip. Our favorite views and beach was on middle Caicos at Mudjin Harbor. We weren’t expecting the cool views and beach. Climb the hill and walk the path to the hidden steps down to the beach.
On Provo the Rock House and The Shore Club were great places to stop and relax to grab a drink to enjoy the view.
