AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This hotel has the worst service I have encountered in a long time. I honestly can't remember the last time I was treated this poorly. As someone who used to work in hospitality I can't believe this place is still able to run as a business. We had requested a late check in and unfortunately arrived a little later than planned, just before dinner. The woman behind the desk had a really poor attitude and made us feel bad for being later. We asked for a little time to get ready and were told the "best they could do" was to give us an extra 15 minutes. It was my friend's birthday and she just wanted to look nice for dinner. We arrived downstairs just before 8pm to be greeted by an empty restaurant. I tried to raise this issue with our server. My complaint was brushed off with "oh we are going to be busy later" they then rushed us through dinner by someone I later found out to be the General Manager!!! There was 1 other couple there the whole time we were eating, the place was a ghost town and they rushed paying customers for nothing. Appalling behaviour service wise however I'll concede the quality of the food was good but overshadowed by the poor service. The room which was upgraded to a 4 poster was dated and very much in need of renovation. It was unbearably hot due to a towel rail we couldn't turn off and it was on a main road near some overnight building works that kept us up all night. Genuinely one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced. They did discount the room when I complained however the staff continued to respond poorly to genuine feedback. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!

Just come back from a 4 night stay with my beautiful fiancé and couldn’t have asked for a better hotel, it was a really lovely stay thank you!! Worth every single penny and so much more ❤️❤️ Here’s a few things: * Every single one of the staff were so LOVELY and so kind and welcoming, they genuinely cared about you and your day. * We kept a do not disturb sign on the door so they left care packages outside of our door in a bag including water, milk, toilet roll, more coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and biscuits etc * Breakfast was beautiful, amazinggg service and had a menu and a buffet bar. It was really really good and we felt like royalty * Room was LOVELY it was very old fashioned. It was a big room, very clean, very very cosy. It’s individually decorated and not something you’d have in a premier inn etc, it was really nice. * The shower was the best shower ive had in my whole life the bathroom was lovely too * Had a nice bar downstairs * Comfiest pillows everrr omg!! Such a comfy bed * It’s quiet, we didnt hear any noises all night. We didn’t even hear any trains or anything. * Best part is that it’s close to everything. Everything you could ever need is within a couple minutes walk and the hotel itself is across the road from the railway station We 199384829% recommend this hotel to stay in. Have no idea what all of the complaints in the other reviews are about, guess they’re just bitter, bored, rich people who expect everything to be perfect. We loved every second we spent there and didnt want to leave, thank you so much!

I stayed at The Royal Hotel over the weekend with my family. We booked large double room. It is a charming mid-range hotel located directly opposite Bath Spa train station, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. Designed by the famed Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the hotel retains much of its historic character while offering modern comforts. Location & Atmosphere Its central location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and other key attractions. The building itself is a Grade II listed Victorian structure, exuding timeless charm with a Parisian-style brasserie and cosy lounges. Room is decorated in traditional style with modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, free Wi-Fi, and tea/coffee-making facilities. Bedding includes Merino wool blankets, goose feather pillows, and Egyptian cotton linens, adding a touch of luxury. However, the overall décor feels a bit dated, and there are signs of wear and tear in places. That reflects in the price. So you can't really complain about it. Breakfast is hearty and includes proper tea service with a teapot and strainer—details that guests appreciate. Service & Value Staff is friendly, professional, and helpful. The hotel offers 24-hour reception, room service, and baggage storage. Pros Excellent central location Historic charm and character Comfortable rooms with quality bedding Great food and attentive staff Cons Rooms show age and could use updating Noise from nearby transport and people leaving night clubs

Attended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful. We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest. The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss. One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go. Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109.Date of stay:...

My husband and I booked a 2 night special package deal at the Royal Hotel. Initially, very pleased, on the whole great staff, very driven to offer a good service to residents. I am nearly 70 and my husband is nearly 80, and we are both considered very active for our age. We were allocated a room on the third floor, with what appeared a suitable room for our needs. However, during our stay the weather was exceptionally warm, resulting in our room being unbearably hot, I did find a fan in one of the cupboards which was constantly on to make our time in the room a bit more bearable. There was a shower over the bath, which sadly due to a problem with water pressure, was basically useless when trying to cool down with extreme heat. We realised that all hotel staff were aware of the low water pressure problem, which we were not informed about when checking in.! We attempted to use the bath, but it certainly wasn't designed for older residents, a few health and safety issues need to be addressed if allocating this room to older less able residents. We did report the problems regarding the shower to reception, later a member of staff arrived at our room to investigate the shower issue...He didn't introduce himself, played around with our shower for a while, and left, with out letting us know about his findings. We later found out that this guy was in fact the general manager of the hotel!! We were sold a package which included a working shower, which didn't happen, soI feel we were charged full price for a room which didn't meet the promise offered in our package, consequently feeling a bit let down by your hotel. I would add, this was my first break following a cancer diagnosis surgery and treatment , and sadly have to say wont be...
