📍Café au lait in Bath has to be my all time favourite brunch spot in Bath. I can always trust that their food will slap and they never disappoint. You can’t book a table and they are usually very busy but trust me when I say it’s worth the wait! Top picks in my opinion: 🥞 The pancakes! Especially the berry ones 🍳 Eggs royal ☕️ Iced coffee Located opposite the train station you won’t miss cafe au lait as you step off the train into Bath! Defo worth a visit. #visitbath #bathuk #bathlife #cafeaulait #batheats

We were looking forward to our breakfast at Cafe au Lait, having scouted potential independent breakfast places the day before. We ordered two veggie breakfast with poached eggs. Those came almost as soft boiled. The coffee was really pretty but weak and lukewarm, we had to ask for another shot. When you spend £28 for a breakfast for two which is above the average both in a Bath & London, you expect the quality to be above average. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. We won’t go back nor would we recommend it. It’s a great place for an Instagram shot but forget it if you want your stomach to be happy. Also, your staff need to be trained better, one of the ladies was running in the stairs with a sausage on a knife and almost bumped into me when I went back upstairs from the bathroom with the knife pointed towards me. We tried to give a feedback in store when asked how the meal was but where met with a bit of attitude from the waitress. Therefore we are giving this place a two star instead of a three star review.

Really delicious brunch and we got lucky to get a spot as it quickly got very busy with a long queue of people waiting for a table. The staff were very friendly and kept smiling and calm even with it being full with more and more people asking for a table. However, my only feedback would be that as people were queuing we could hear staff saying I think they will be going soon while indicating to our table. This was said several times, we were by no means slow or sitting there wasting time/not making purchases. We were then watched by the waiting people and it made us leave sooner than we would have liked despite both of us wanting another hot drink. We were the seated guests enjoying what was a really yummy plate of food and lovely hot drinks, it would have been far nicer not to feel like we needed to rush our last mouthfuls and leave so more people could take our spot.

I came here after seeing it’s recommended as a top brunch spot in Bath but I was quite disappointed. I was standing around for three minutes while 4 waitresses were slagging off their customers and openly talking about how they hadn’t got a clue what was going on but just standing behind the till not doing anything but talk. I get it. Service is stressful but they weren’t being discreet at all. I felt like I was an inconvenience being there.

After being told to go outside and find a table, I had to go back inside to order. Again, a 7 minute wait staring at waitresses who look disinterested and simply stare back at their customers without a willingness to help. After finally ordering and receiving my drink after 10 minutes (probably the best part of the meal - the flat white was excellent) it started to rain and the chaos ensued. Once again, the waitresses made it very obvious that they were annoyed with the customers, were rude to people who simply wanted to take shelter and were openly slagging their customers off. It took 15 minutes to get a table after coming inside from the rain and a further 15 minutes for food. The waitresses (again) couldn’t cope with the people and were rudely commenting about people, their behaviour and the situation. Again I felt extremely uncomfortable and even considered leaving because I felt an inconvenience and burden.

The service was incredibly slow. I was seated behind a girl who had been waiting over 40 minutes for chicken wings while her friends were eating. She had somewhere to be and asked for a takeaway box, which was followed by the waitress rolling her eyes and waving her hands about rudely behind the girls back.

The staff are extremely badly trained, overwhelmed and the current system they have going clearly doesn’t work.

The food itself (veggie breakfast) was decent but I’ve had better in London for less money. The poached eggs were cold and the bread was hard. Avocado was brown and unripe. Tomatoes were also undercooked.

Overall, a very disappointed experience considering this was my first impression of bath. I expect many have also experienced the same. I think they need to take down the “best brunch...

My Fiance and I were in Bath this day to finalise our Wedding Venue/Church. We popped in for coffee at this cafe. It was fairly busy. The three/four staff had absolutely no ounce of decency to smile and acknowledge us. I walked up to the counter and the girl just stared at the screen and pointed her finger up at me and said wait in a rather rude and derogatory manner. She was apparently serving someone else. We waited and then proceeded to say that we would like to eat in. She had absolutely no expression on her face. She looked like she did not want to be there. She said there were no tables available. My fiance said yes there was one free he could see it. She insisted that someone has booked it. So we said no worries we will sit outside. While I was waiting. This same girl greeted two other walk-ins and sat them at tables.

This girl with the long blond hair. I mean why is she still employed at this place. She needs to sort herself out. Surely this is not the face...
