Our expectations of this lovely guest-house were well-exceeded, and our stay – though we were in Cheltenham for a sad occasion – was totally enjoyable. Check-in, though we were delayed by heavy motorway traffic, was smooth and efficient with our breakfast requirements quickly established from the wide range of options available. This property scores over town centre hotels as a substantial freshly-cooked breakfast using quality ingredients is included in the price unlike the big movers in the industry who charge significant amounts for what can be quite charmless offerings. Another benefit was the off-road parking, which some hotels also charge for. |The beautiful late Victorian house, a villa I think it could be said, is set back amongst trees in lovely gardens and although the road can be quite busy we were not troubled by any traffic noise – the heavy curtains no doubt helped. All the furnishings were top quality though admittedly perhaps not to everyone’s taste but this was part of the charm of the property. The dining-room ceiling was particularly impressive. The room was very well furnished with a range of drinks including organic coffee and the bathroom toiletries were top-quality, too. |The single beds were extremely comfortable and a generous size. All the other bedrooms in the property are doubles. The ensuite shower was responsive and powerful. Overall, there was a blend of elegance, charm and quirkiness which – if he doesn’t mind my saying - our host Peter also embodied. His sense of dry humour matched my own, and he was extremely amiable and knowledgeable. I and my son engaged in absorbing wide-ranging conversations with him, and later after breakfast his wife Claire too.|I have absolutely no hesitation to recommending this lovely place to the discerning traveller, and would choose it above all others in...
Read moreAmazing B and B! Far exceeds any expectations I have about a family run BnB. We have been staying at B&B‘s all week, but this one is special. We arrived a little early, but lucky for us. Our rooms were already ready. Peter had our keys ready at the door. It really felt like we were staying at a great friends house with antique furniture, wonderful beds and absolutely fantastic bathrooms. The tub and our bathroom was glorious, and I took a hot bath for the first time. We had two sinks in our bathroom. It really felt quite decadent. What really caught me off guard was that if you were looking for something, it was probably near where you are. It’s almost like they could read your mind. If you needed a place in the bathroom to sit down your bag it was there. If you needed a place to plug something in it was in the right place, and there was plenty of room to sit your devices down. The bed was fantastically, comfortable, and lots of comfortable seating in the room as well Peter is a treasure. After we stopped in and went to our rooms and took a shower, we went into town for a while. A little bit of a walk, but not bad. When we returned And changed, Peter informed us that if we wanted to get a light snack there was a pub about three minutes down the road. We stopped by the Hewlett pub and enjoyed a light dinner and a few pints. A great local place After a good nights sleep, and that luxurious bath and the bathtub, we were refreshed. We had arranged breakfast to be at 8:15 and we arrived at 8:15 to a fantastic full English breakfast. The ham was amazing. After eating all the food we possibly could we had to finish packing up and get ready for our next hike on the Cotswald Way. Peter the amazing Hotel man saw us to the door and made sure all of our luggage was stowed. Beautiful place and...
Read moreI was a little confused at check in, as he wanted to be paid up front. He told me it was £110 which I said was cheaper than he had quoted on the phone of £115, he made a joke of discounting it because of the rain. I had forgotten what room type I had booked and when shown to the room I realised afterwards when looking at the paperwork that I had booked a super king and this was a double. None the less I couldn't be bothered to moan, I must assume somebody else wanted longer than 1 night and he had changed our bookings around. Our room was a good size and so was the bathroom, with a free standing bath as well as large shower. It was all spotlessly clean. The furnishings are old school, with flowery curtains etc but I liked it anyway. The breakfast had a good choice of starters, and we both had a full English which was good. No complaints and I...
