Read moreI have been a semi regular visitor to the Sanford since it first opened and what a great pub it was. Sadly the Sandford has become a shadow of its former self. I visited on Saturday to find that our table was right underneath a TV showing the football, now there are a Myriad of pubs in Cheltenham showing the football the highlight of coming to the Sandford was no TV no gaming machines no intrusive music!
I will give credit that when we asked to be moved the staff did accommodate our request and we did get another table, which we were thankful for. . The real ale selection was below par and nothing of interest a very “ safe” selection.
We did order food which was well cooked BUT what does the Sandford want to be?A Real Ale pub ? A Gastro Pub? Or will it become just another generic pub.
CAMRA awarded it the pub of the year alas I cannot see the award being given again on...

An ale drinker just wants some food that represents value and is wholesome. A very diverse menu of food to compliment the ales on sale. There is also an excellent outdoor area to sit, good atmosphere, friendly staff. Thoroughly recommended. Top notch...
