Laurel House — Hotel in Cheltenham

As soon as we got to Laurel House we were made to feel welcome by our good humoured hosts. We were in the basement apartment which has 2 bedrooms, a sitting room, kitchen and bathroom and is beautifully furnished.||We only used the main bedroom which is very spacious, has an incredibly comfortable bed and 2 easy church and large TV.||The lounge is huge - a very large TV - leather sofa and armchairs and large dining table where we were served a delicious breakfast each morning.||The well equipped kitchen was useful. The bath and shower were both excellent.||The sitting room and main bedroom both have French doors looking out onto attractively planted shrubs. There is also parking which was much appreciated. ||Laurel House is about a max 10 min walk to Cheltenham High Street. It's at the opposite end of the town to Montpellier but everything is walkable. ||We walked to a bus stop by the hospital (about 5 mins away), and got the 99 bus to Gloucester - it puts you off near the cathedral which is well worth a visit, (we paid £5.50 each to do the excellent Guided Tour. The bus fare was around £10 return for two of us.||We recommend the Eurasia Restaurant which is minutes away from Laurel House, and particularly The Istanbul kitchen which is a out 15 mins walk away. This was an amazing place. Perfectly located for trips to Cheltenham centre. Hugh and Gilly are wonderful hosts, made us feel so at home.|The breakfast was fantastic, so much offered and everything was super tasty and fresh.|The apartment had everything you could want and more, sofas, tvs, kitchen, storage. We only stayed one night but both agreed we could stay there for longer easily. Everywhere was clean and tidy, really relaxing place.||The beds get their own paragraph. Everything about them makes you never want to get up, the pillows are snuggly, the quilt almost hugs you, but isn't too warm (we had a brief heat wave during our stay!) and the mattress was perfect. Really relaxing sleep.||The wifi is excellent, I was able to do my work before breakfast, fast and no drop outs.||It really felt like a home away from home and we will definitely return when anything brings us back...

This was our fourth or fifth stay with Hugh & Jillie and I know it won’t be our last. Returning here is like a home from home, the apartment is very comfortable. The large and airy bedroom would be ample space alone but with our own sitting/dinning room, where a freshly cooked breakfast is served, a small kitchen and a bathroom with a shower over the bath we could stay here much longer than a few days if necessary and never feel cramped. Only a 15-20 stroll into town, with a good selection of shops, a lovely museum and a great choice of pubs and restaurants we leave our car parked on the driveway. They are perfect hosts who make us feel welcome, thanks for another wonderful stay, see you again...
