Mae Café — Restaurant in Great Britain

We had a very disappointing experience here on Sunday 21st September. I brought my sister for lunch as she was eager to try the peach burrata dish she had seen advertised on TikTok. The venue itself was lovely and bright, with all new furnishings and decor- this is where the positives stopped though. Unfortunately, after being seated without any explanation of how ordering worked, we only discovered at the counter that the dish was sold out. A clear notice or mention beforehand would have saved the disappointment.

We chose different dishes as we were hungry. I ordered a flat white, which was unexpectedly very sweet. I raised this with a staff member who assured me it would be remade, but no replacement ever arrived. Meanwhile, our food took over 40 minutes. When we inquired, we were told it would be another ten minutes, followed immediately by an offer of a refund if we were unhappy to wait longer. This was delivered without any apology or acknowledgment of the delay, and the overall attitude from the staff felt dismissive rather than understanding.

We also observed from other tables, they had ran out of ketchup and brown sauce - again a very poor attitude from the staff towards this, no apology or alternative was given.

In the end, we chose to accept a full refund and leave. It was massively disappointing that no one made any effort to address the situation or apologise. While we appreciate this is a new venue and some teething issues are expected, the lack of communication, service, and care went...

I popped in here for lunch and can honestly say I was blown away! What a great little find! A beautifully decorated cafe with spaciously laid seating, a fabulous menu and wonderful staff. The cafe was full but the staff still made me feel extremely welcome and catered for my every need. I ordered the chorizo and Gruyère hash and it did not disappoint - a great selection of flavours, very satisfying portion size and despite the lunchtime rush my order was delivered to my table within 15 minutes.

My oat milk vanilla latte was delicious and the young lady who does the latte art is fantastic talented! I had the pleasure of meeting the owners too who are both also lovely ladies.

I’ve visited a few times with a friend and always received a warm welcome and excellent service but I was blown away today when visiting with my son who has allergies. The service was exceptional, with the person serving making it super easy for us to order, and even left the cafe to get another hot chocolate powder to ensure he could have what he chose and swapped the bread for a milk free alternative. I was absolutely over the moon, especially as sometimes you can feel like a burden with multiple allergies and dietary needs! Thanks so much for today it was super...
