Recently had a great breakfast experience, during a weekend away in York with a friend. Our accommodation didn't provide breakfast, so I checked reviews, to help us find the best place to eat, from such a wide selectin of cafes and bars in the area. When I saw Bruberrie had lots of glowing reports and recommendations, it was an easy decision to eat there. We were not disappointed.
We arrived without prior booking but were welcomed, seated and provided with drinks, in a prompt and friendly manner. The menu left us feeling spoilt for choice......should we opt for porridge with seasonal fruits, a pancake tower, or maybe eggs benedict, or an omelette? Decision made, we were soon tucking into delicious full English breakfasts. My friend had chosen the traditional meat version, while I had the vegetarian alternative. Both meals were really well cooked, with fresh, tasty ingredients, including some home made items (hash hrowns and pea fritters). We thoroughly enjoyed our food and noticed that those around us were tucking into theirs with just as much enthusiasm as us.
Although we don't live locally and won't be able to visit Bruberrie again on a regular basis, we definitely plan to return there next time we're in the area. It was a brilliant find and we strongly recommend it to others who enjoy lovely food which is reasonably priced and served in friendly, comfortable...
Read moreOUTSTANDING food, service and atmosphere. We absolutely loved this little place and the staff were so friendly. Dogs are welcome which was lovely to see. The food... my God THE FOOD... I was jealous that my partner got the Full English breakfast because that looked incredible and she was raving about it for the rest of the day. I had the French Toast and WOW, so many flavours, not too sweet and melts in the mouth. I've never tried French Toast before but I will certainly be back for another. I could not have been happier with my choice. Once we had finished, we spotted some delicious looking cheesecakes and tarts so we had to buy them and took them away. The lady who served us made us feel so welcome and spoke about their lovely little place and the food. Oh and the peach iced tea, another WOW, I loved it and it went down a treat in the heat. To add to this, they said they did lunch and the menu looked incredible, it's a shame we didn't get to try it but we will absolutely be back to try it on our next visit to York. Well worth the walk out of the city walls. It wasn't expensive either, and I can't argue with the price. It was lovely and cosy inside and there's more room around back. This place deserves all the hype it can get and a must add to your...
Read moreWe visited this cafe for breakfast yesterday morning whilst we were in York for the day. We were seated straight away however the waitress did not tell us that you had to go up to the counter to order, so after around 10 minutes I asked a waitress who was clearing a table if we could order and she then said you had to go up to the till so I did. It cost just over £30 for a full breakfast, bacon sarnie, milkshake and iced latte, quite on the expensive side! It took 45 minutes for the food to arrive and I had asked for the bacon to be well done, which it was not! However the food was really tasty! Whilst we were finishing our food, there was a table that asked the staff about how to make a complaint as they were unhappy they had waited over 40 minutes for their food (just as we had). The staff member didn’t really seem to care and didn’t know how to answer really she just kept saying it works in order of when food is ordered. It’s quite a small cafe so taking 45 minutes for food is too long. There were also 4 staff at the front of house, who just stood behind the counter talking for most of the time rather than looking like they were actually working. We won’t...
