I booked for two nights at the Beach Hotel and stayed in room 12 which has a balcony and great views of the sea. The room itself was dated, dusty and a wardrobe door which threatened to fall off when opened. During the night there was a problem with the toilet, it would not flush and was gushing lots of water and it made an awful noise which kept me awake. I went to reception and spoke to the night staff. He tried to fix it, but it soon started again. First thing in the morning, I told the receptionist what had happened, she said she would call the plumber and move me to another room. ||The hotel staff did nothing to assist me and I was left in the room waiting for the plumber to arrive, he did fix the toilet eventually. The staff didn't bother to come to my room to ask if the repair had been done. I was not offered another room either.||Afterwards, I spoke to the receptionist and the Manager about refunding me for the first night as a way of compensating me for the inconvenience of losing a nights sleep. The Manager who is very rude, said that I could not have a refund because I failed to report the issue to the night staff. I was of course getting very upset at that point as this was an accusation that was completely untrue.||I then asked the Manager if I could have a full refund and checkout now, He said no, I cannot give you a full refund. ||I could clearly see that the hotel staff had a complete disregard for the comfort of their guests.||I booked the short break to Brighton as I have lost both of my parents and wanted some quiet time to reflect, but instead, I was saddled with a disrepair that was the responsibility of the hotel, how dare they leave a guest waiting in their room for a plumber to arrive!||The whole experience was terribly disturbing, so I made the difficult decision to check out a day early. I left the hotel not only exhausted but in floods of tears.||On the way home I felt a sense of relief that I was out of there as the hotel gives you a feeling of being holed up in some sort of lunatics asylum where the staff think they can play the dangerous game of 'Cat and Mouse' and get away with it.||Please stay away from the...
Read moreI booked this last minuet on the day as I was visiting to see a show with my 9 year old child... I was attracted by the price, the location and the fact that they could accommodate us at such short notice. ||||When we arrived, we were advised that we had a basement room (No2). As soon as we decended the stairs both myself and my son felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. The carpets were filthy, the corridors reminded me of a horror film When we eventually found our room we were greeted by the smell of cannabis smoke!||||I didnt mind the outdated furniture etc but the room felt very oppressive and unwelcoming, even if it wasn't for the smell I would not have slept the night there. After a slight standoff with the man at the reception desk Being told that there were no other rooms, then after he made a phone call we were suddenly directed to floor 4 room 26. This was much better, it was larger airer and brighter. Although it had an odd smell that hung in the air, it was bearable. ||||Upon returning to the room after our show, my son pointed at a mark/stain at the foot of the bed it looked like excrement although I didn't get too close to inspect. The top sheet and duvets were freshly clean, so it looked like the cleaners had decided to cut corners and not change the under sheet covering the base of the bed. I looked and noticed other nasty looking stains on the bottom of the twin beds. There was also a very suspicious looking stain on the carpet It was a very late hour at this point so we had no choice but to stay. ||The bed itself was comfy enough, but because I could hear someone loudly snoring I was awake most of the night.|||| I would not stay again, it doesn't suit me .. But the reasons I haven't given it zero stars is because it was dirt cheap, reasonable breakfast and the staff despite their laid back casual approach were friendly and helpful ~ This hotel In my opinion is not suited for families, only stag/hen dos and younger crowds looking for somewhere to crash after a night at the clubs. They will sleep through outside noises and not notice the...
Read moreI don't write many reviews, but after reading the ones about this hotel, I feel I have to as they are unjust!!||It was booked by a friend of mine for us for a stag do, and after reading reviews and seeing pics I thought maybe a better idea to sleep on the beach!! ||But on arrival, I was pleasantly surprised!! It was clean, staff where pleasant and the room was a VERY decent size to accommodate 4 blokes, (room 26, 2nd floor) even thou put of the 5 rooms we had booked I think we lucked out on size and view||Yes the decor and hotel is a touch out of date, but u didn't book the Ritz Calton did you!? ||I wouldn't necessarily choose this hotel if I was visiting with the Mrs, but for lads weekend it was PERFECT!! GREAT location, breakfast was decent, and for this sort of event, I would definatly stay here again, ||So I would recommend, but suited to...
