Booked The Charm for a weekend in Brighton with 2 girlfriends, after extensive research. The hotel is situated in a gorgeous square, very close to the sea front and the pier. We each had a luxury double room with sea view. (Rooms 28, 31 and 33 - one above the other). Rooms 31 and 33 were identical- super spacious with huge gorgeous window seats, however 28 was on the ground floor and wasn’t quite as big, and instead of a large window seat just had a small table and chairs. Personally, I feel it shouldn’t have been priced the same as the other two, as it wasn’t quite as luxurious. But I was in room 33 at the top, and was more than happy! The shower was amazing and I loved the touches of coffee/tea making facilities, biscuits and water replenished daily. Bed was super comfortable and faced the windows, which I loved. Wardrobe was large and contained a safe, ironing board/iron and a hairdryer. Towels were large and fluffy. The air conditioner was really powerful and was a welcome relief in the warm weather we had. It also doubled as a good distraction from outside noise in the early hours- drunken revellers on their way home. To be expected in a place such as Brighton (and indeed is mentioned by the hotel itself), but should be noted in advance for light sleepers. |There is no bar at the hotel, although they do have a fridge with beer/prosecco/tins of gin and tonic you can purchase. |The staff at the Charm were all so genuinely friendly and welcoming, and keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We didn’t eat breakfast there, but the dining room was lovely, with a cute little covered patio area outside. The icing on the cake for us though, was the hot tub! DEFINTIELY book this! It is situated outside (but is covered) in a little courtyard with sun loungers and tables etc. there is also a shower and toilet, and the whole area is private, and is yours for an hour for a small fee. We added a bottle of champagne and it really was divine in the sunshine!|I highly recommend this lovely little hotel and would...
Read moreStaff were so friendly at helpful here. Th lovely lady at the front desk was so helpful and kind to us. The breakfast staff were also polite and welcoming. To park here can be a bit of an issue (it seems to be a Brighton thing in general!). But I managed to park round the square. If you do get lucky enough to park on the square, you can use the PayByPhone app, quoting location '85332'. It cost about £15 for 24 hours, which although sounds expensive, seems fairly reasonable for a whole day in a city.
It's literally a 2 minute walk from Brighton pier and the sea front, which was so wonderful! It takes 5-10 minutes to walk into the town centre, where there are so many great places to eat! We personally took a stroll down to Mowgli's- they serve amazing Indian street food!
We were staying in Room 5 (the front window room on the ground floor). The staff had decorated the room for a birthday, which was such a kind gesture! It was a lovely room with plenty of space, and had air con and a mini fridge You can see the sea from the window, and is a lovely, airy room. The only potential downside of this room is that as it overlooks the green, you can sometimes hear questionable individuals in the nighttime, but we personally only heard one random bout of shouting, and it was fine thereon.
Breakfast was delicious, great variety! Cereals, hams, cheeses, full English options. Various juices and coffee and tea options.
We also had the pleasure of having a couples massage from Ami and another wonderful therapist (I've unfortunately forgotten her name!). The massage was £68 each for an hour, and well worth it! Every single detail had been well thought out. The treatment room was relaxing, and smelt divine. The therapists were attentive, and I received an amazing back, neck and shoulder massage. If you have the opportunity to indulge in a massage here, do it!
I want to take the time out to thank every member of staff for helping to make our trip to Brighton wonderful. We will definitely stay here again next...
Read moreThree of us stayed here in one room. It was up at the very top of the hotel and despite us not being the most athletic, it was fine.. lots and lost of stairs over several flights, so do beware if this is not for you.
From the moment we arrived we appreciated the staff. The reception staff were helpful, polite and informed. They gave us maps and explained how to find the shopping and food we wanted to find.
The hotel is really close to the beach and is walking distance to the town. We arrived by train and taxi, it would appear to be difficult to park outside this hotel but the staff were so helpful with luggage.
The bedroom was big and spacious and the shower room was a good size too with toiletries provided. The shower was big with dual option shower heads - one was a large overhead plate, the other was a handheld attachment. There was a small fridge and tea/coffee facilities. We had the most beautiful sunset views with the windows open, plenty of sunlight and fresh air on the warm days and nights.
The breakfasts were outstanding. A full choice of everything you could imagine. My friends had the cooked breakfast while I had the avocado eggs benedict from the menu, but the choice included continental with croissants, toast, hams and cheeses, yoghurts, juices and as many teas, coffees and hot chocolate as you need.
We asked for ice one evening and the concierge brought it up in an ice bucket. Nothing seemed too much trouble.
One thing I have to mention was the late night shouting outside from drunk people, but what can a hotel do about that when we wanted our windows open, the alternative was to use the fan provided.
I would not hesitate to...
