La Bonne Auberge used to be one of my favourite restaurants, however, I think we may have visited for the last time. The food and service in La Bonne Auberge used to be exceptional. On this visit, however, both were poor. The service felt impersonal and lacked the standard that you would expect of a high quality restaurant - and that you used to receive. Correcting a drinks order that was taken incorrectly was very much seen as a hassle, despite this having been their mistake. There also seemed to be a lack of care or attention, and I'm unclear if staff had a particular knowledge of the dishes on the menu, but it certainly did not seem so. I don't know if all of this is down to restaurant budgets, and they now regularly use agency staff, but whatever it is, the service really should be better. The food was also a disappointment. I've previously had some of the best meals I've enjoyed in Glasgow at La Bonne Auberge over the last 20 years, however, the food on this visit was average at best, and is the main reason we will be unlikely to look to go back. The menu itself comes across as slightly dated - which is fine, as long as the food is of an exceptionally high standard. It was not. Only the starters that our group had were of the standard that we expected, the mains were all very average, and the desserts were, on the whole quite poor, which led us to question how much of them was made from scratch, and how much was frozen components. Overall the experience was poor, and topped off by the fact that we were placed at a table in the conservatory which they had earmarked for a promotion, and which was setting up as we dined, and starting as we finished. Why we weren't sat elsewhere was another thing which boggled the mind. Adieu La Bonne Auberge, it was nice...

Still dropping by for food, another good visit this morning as usual, the only thing I will bring up is that the location is card payment only now so might not be suitable for those without electronic payment facilities.

Food 10/10 Staff and service 10/10 Hygiene 10/10 Drinks selection behind the bar 8/10

Another visit today, one of many , and as always the service and the quality of the food and drink are 10/10 impeccable, a great place to dine out day or night, thoroughly recommend, the staff are second to none .

10/10 A+

Spotlessly clean, impeccable service from very well presented and well mannered bar and waiting staff, a friendly yet laid back quiet space in Glasgow City centre adjacent to Buchanan Bus station. Good menu and good selection of drinks, they evidently have a very good chef in house.

Highly recommended any time morning, noon or night for great food and a nice atmosphere, have been several times and will return.

A+

Visited for breakfast today, 6th October, service excellent as always.

Popped by for breakfast with my mother today December 7th 2019 , great service and very nice food as always.

A+ again 👍

Visited again today, 26th September 2021 having also visited the last few weekends , as always spotlessly clean, food A++ and service very very good, all staff very polite and friendly , great place to eat out , even in these difficult and problematic times with the pandemic chaos they have held everything together.

Please remember to tip the staff if you can, they are well worth...

We visited this restaurant as we were given a giftcard from a family member. Prior to our visit we had accessed the online menu and selected what we wanted to order. On arrival we were presented with a pre theatre menu while other diners were presented with an a la carte menu. There were no items on the pre theatre menu which we had picked from the online menu. We asked for an alternative menu and we were told the items on the a la carte menu would take much longer to prepare and there was a reluctance to give us this menu. After justifying our need for the a la carte menu, it was given to us. This process left us feeling undervalued as customers as we appeared to receive a different level of service compared to other diners. This really left us feeling annoyed and meant we did not enjoy our time in the restaurant. Also my son was given a chipped glass it was replacement when pointed out to the member of staff, and also my pate has oxygenated all the way around the sides when it was served to me so had been lying out for a while standards were not met very disappointed underwhelmed and upset that we were stereotyped as soon as we walked in and only offered the set menu unlike the...

The food is usually very high quality, especially for the reasonable prices. The only thing that could be better is the service for drinks. I was there yesterday having a pre-theatre meal and was waiting too long for a drink for the main meal. I had to go to the bar and order it, it was taking that long. Other than this, everything else was the usual standards this place has - very good. The food was quality, the value of price is very good, the menu is authentic & the staff are very friendly. The only other critical feedback is maybe they are too quick with firing meals at customers. I always have to ask them to hold fire with desert for an extra 5 minutes because of how quick they get you your starter, main and desert. A little more time inbetween would be welcoming to allow the previous dish to properly digest. These are small critiques, but the overall bigger picture for me is this restaurant is very decent & is a very good spot in the city centre.
