Lakes Lodge, a charming family-run bed and breakfast, is nestled in the heart of Windermere Village in Cumbria, England. Housed in a traditional 19th-century stone building, this cozy retreat offers a delightful stay for visitors exploring the Lake District National Park. Just a short 5-minute drive from the hotel lies the serene Lake Windermere. The comfortable rooms at Lakes Lodge feature private bathrooms, TVs, hairdryers, small refrigerators, and tea/coffee-making facilities. Guests can savor a hearty English breakfast in the inviting dining room, with options for continental and vegetarian fare. For dinner, the hotel can arrange reservations at a recommended local restaurant. Only problem is the WiFi, which is so slow that you can't stream Netflix. Attractions nearby include the enchanting World of Beatrix Potter, a mere 2 kilometers away. Adventurous souls can embark on Lake Windermere tours, conveniently organized on-site. Additionally, Bowness and Windermere Lake are within a pleasant 15 to 20-minute walk from this charming B&BAd12. Whether you’re a literary enthusiast or a nature lover, Lakes Lodge promises a delightful escape in the heart of the Lake District. 🌿🏞️

Very spacious rooms with room for bunk beds in the room to utilise the space. Room 5 wasn't my style of character but room 8 didn't look bad. The rooms were definitely clean and well maintained. Most rooms are not wheelchair accessible, but Room 6 is the best room for people with a wheelchair. There are only 10 rooms so if anyone with a physical disability needs room 6, please book in advance, especially in peak season. The wifi was not as good as what I've experienced in other accommodations, but I was able to do basic surfing on the internet and that was enough for one night. The location of this bnb place is close to the station, the Ellerays pub, and the town centre. The female receptionist was friendly and lovely. She was willing to help us find the best place to find snow, she was accommodating with our needs. Onsite breakfast was excellent quality. You can choose what you want for your Full English Breakfast. Just make sure to arrive at the breakfast table by 8:45am because the staff starts packing up around that time before the kitchen shuts at 9am.

The room sucks, old and small, but nothing worse than the host. The host is so rude, very bad service. Totally not worthy to stay with this price. The breakfast is awful, in the first day it was fine, but in the later two days, the host gave us over-cooked toast and sausages, it was almost burnt. The host set a lot of rules for the guests, and is not making sense with this price. We are not staying here by free, how come we paid for someone to rule us? No food in the room, no visitor is allowed. Never recommand this lodge, unless you want to be rude by someone, served with burnt food, disrespectful, impolite, and being watched. You can feel the host is watching you all the time, to see if you have broke any of their "rules", ridiculous !

Andy does a good impersonation of Basil Faulty, but does not evoke any humour. Our catalogue of events include||- On our way to the place we rang to enquire if off-road parking was available. After shouting one word “YES” he put the phone down.||- on entry to the car park (admittedly a tricky entrance from a busy trunk road that makes reversing in quite impossible without stopping the passing traffic) Andy, the owner began to gesticulate first through the window and then from the main door shouting “can’t you women reverse a car?” and “facing that way you’ll never get out of here if someone parks behind you!” He failed to understand the stupidity of this statement.||- we were prompted to say that he was very unwelcoming and unpleasant. He failed to understand why we felt so offended.||- true to our kindly characters we made every effort to coax him out of his vexation, but every effort was rebuffed, indeed fuelled his irritation eg “so, do you have a lot of problems with parking in the car park?” Answer : Yes! All the time! Sometimes it’s so bad the Police get involved cos people get so angry. I wish I didn’t have a car park, it’s nothing but ….. trouble”. Every attempt to chat about even the most mundane subject seemed to rile him.||After completing the registration form we were given the keys to room No. 5. The bed linen was clean, but the room and its sparse contents were shabby. Superficially the bathroom was clean but don’t examine too closely. Rolls of hair and dust have accumulated in every knock and cranny.||||After a walk around the town and further consideration we decided that we did not want to return for the bed or the breakfast. We simply returned the key and told him we had decided not to accept the remainder of any hospitality he may have. As we predicted he may become enraged we did not request any refund nor was it offered. However, it would satisfy us if reviews such as ours would serve to warn other unsuspecting guests to consider an alternative.||||We will never be privy to why Andy is so angry and unpleasant. If he has troubles in his life we wish for them to be resolved. We wish him health and happiness. We sincerely wish for him to find peace soon.||||We had looked forward to a fun, relaxing and memorable weekend stay. We got all three in buckets’ full, just not in this place. Our encounter with Andy at Lakes Lodge was certainly memorable, for all the...

This place is very over priced for the quality of the room. The bathroom was old and dated with urine stains around the toilet base and blacked plug holes from age. The bedroom carpet was worn and even ripped in one place. The building itself smells old and fusty. The owner seems very abrupt bordering on rude. We asked if he could recommend anywhere to eat in the evening and told us to drive 2 miles down the road to a pub but if we couldn't get parked when we got back then it was basically tough luck. As we'd come for a romantic night away neither me or my husband wanted to drive in the evening. He then kept telling us we couldn't bring food back to our room as if that was what we were planning. After spending the afternoon in the village and the neighbouring village of Bowness we tried to find somewhere for an evening meal which proved to be impossible, half the restaurants are closed Mondays and Tuesdays and those that aren't were either booked up for the evening or didn't take bookings and suggested to try again in 20 minutes along with other families/couples trying to get a table. This was just the final straw to our "romantic" night away after paying £115 for a substandard room and now been unable to get a evening meal that we checked out of the room and drove the 2...
