Lovely place to stay. We have just completed our weekend away here and would come here again. As it is 'adults only' it is quiet and peaceful. There are very comprehensive room guides which provide you with lots of information to set you up for a stay in the lakes, this information includes information on nearby shops and amenities, recommended places to visit, places to eat and so much more. They also have dedicated folders for walks on the communal bookcase. The guides are some of the most comprehensive and informative I have seen in any hotel or b&b and helped us to plan our stay. The communal bookcase is excellent, along with a selection of books there are also leaflets about nearby attractions, homemade informative binders of information for guests to borrow and browse so they can really plan their stay and a selection on dvds to borrow when you just want to snuggle up. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with lots of storage to unpack your clothes. There was a dressing table in our room with a mirror which was a nice touch as many hotels just provide one in the bathroom or its a glorified shelf, having an actual table was nice. Breakfast was outstanding, lots of choice. Everything was fresh. Lots of homemade things to choose from too. The banana bread is delicious. Their homemade marmalade is delicious and so is the jam. Service is fantastic. Caroline is friendly, cheerful and very knowledgeable. An absolutely lovely place to stay for a relaxed holiday in the...

I don’t know where to begin, everything was just brilliant. We had the loveliest dog friendly stay at The Penn to bring in the New Year and we couldn’t have loved it more. What a fantastic wee place this is, the owners have taken great attention to detail with some lovely goodies on arrival for both us and the pup. A dog bed and water bowl was even provided for furry friends. The room was extremely clean, comfortable and cosy with ample space for spending some much needed down time in The Lake District. Location was fab, walking distance to all amenities in Windermere and Bowness and a short bus/car ride to the further towns. We never struggled to get parked, there is a set number of spaces for The Penn guests to use which is brilliant in a place where parking can be busy. |A coffee machine, kettle and fridge were great features meaning we could enjoy a cuppa and some cold drinks throughout our stay and the smart TV allowed us to enjoy some movies while relaxing at the end of a busy day. |Staff extremely helpful with questions before arrival and responded to us swiftly when needed - it’s so lovely to know that they take pleasure in their little business. |We honestly could not recommend The Penn highly enough, it felt as thought we were staying in a wee apartment and not just a room with en-suite bathroom. It definitely had ample room for 2 people and a pup. |If you are considering staying here, I would say go for it. It is simply amazing. We will be returning. |Thank...

We had a great stay at the Penn last week. It’s perfectly located, very clean, steeped in history and the interior is sympathetic to the property but in an updated modern style. It’s like a boutique hotel really just without the reception etc. We had a dog friendly room which was great as it was closer to the road for easy access. It does have some stairs if that’s of a concern. Parking was generally available to the rear which was a godsend. It could be more difficult at busier times but there is a car park nearby if needed. This particular part of Windermere was very nice and there were a great selection of cafes, restaurants and bars to choose from, many of which were dog friendly. On our first day we took a walk up to Orrest head which the start of was opposite the hotel. Lots of beautiful walks further afield. Highly recommend. Thanks to Juliette as well as she was great on the point of booking and checking in with us during our stay to see if we needed anything.

Travelled from down south to the Lake District for the first time. Arrived in the evening to The Penn and completely blown away. Gorgeously decorated room, stunning bathroom (massive bath!!) and such a comfy bed. The room was very clean and we were obsessed with the underfloor heating in the bathroom! Being upgraded to the king size room was such a treat, we felt so lucky. To top it off we had a bottle of Prosecco, some fudge and a note for my partners birthday. We managed to get a parking space 9/10 times so we were happy with that. Gorgeous location and quiet in the evenings for some well needed rest. The keypad to get in was handy as we didn’t need to worry about loosing a hotel key. The welcome book was so handy for food recommendations. Best hotel we’ve stayed at in the UK!!! We didn’t want to leave!!!

Had the most fantastic night at The Penn, the room was gorgeously decorated and my boyfriend and I felt very comfortable there. The bed was absolutely stunning, big and very comfortable, with a lovely duvet and very comfy pillows, it was also very quiet, couldn’t hear the outside at all with the windows closed. They had left a complimentary bottle of Prosecco and two glasses on the side for my boyfriend who’s birthday it was, and some delicious fudge which was a really nice touch. Everything from the lamp shades to the bathroom sink were beautifully curated. Got in touch through email before arriving for some additional info, and had a speedy response which was also great. Could not fault The Penn, very happy to have found this gorgeous spot, we will most definitely be back! Thank you ◡̈
