You can park behind Booths where the bus and train station car park is then simple walk out, cross the road to the right then turn left and walk down a bit. You'll see a sign posted path and a route sign with red and blue paths on it. It should take 30-45 mins to walk up and with benches on the way there's plenty of opportunities for a rest as the climb is fairly steep. Great views of Windermere and the fells to the north, with a nice schematic naming those fells. Clear day views to Morecambe Bay to SE and Scafell/Great Gable to NW, seating areas (cold metal) to take in the views. Note this summit can get very busy and is quite rocky and muddy at top. Read moreLocation is just above windermere hotel, and path way is across the road from visitor information center. The climb is just 20 mins max but view is spectacular. No other place in whole of lake district is such beautiful than sitting on bench ar orrest head with coffee in hand. Its not too rushed or busy location so best for either dawn or dusk. Dusk is more beautiful as the sun light and some clouds make it utterly beautiful place to be in. Highly recommended for those who want to sit and have some peace watching the light stop time.
