After having what can only be described as an excessive amount of alcohol the night before, this place was top of the list for visiting to cure my hangover. Well it went above and beyond!
We arrived and were promptly seen to by the energetic and very efficient staff. Ordering was quick and simple with a varied choice on the menu to cater for everyone.
Food was delicious, the roll was warm and fresh, easily, bacon was cooked to perfection. Just a cut above the rest when it came to any bacon rolls I’ve ever devoured in my fragile state before. Their Green Reviver smoothie saved my life, with an estimated 7 hour trip home later that day I wouldn’t have managed it without it. Even named the drink appropriately. Excellent price too, was expecting the pricing to higher due to its prime location in the middle of Windermere and top notch food.
Staff members were rushed of their feet, another sign of how in demand this place is! Super polite but efficient in their mannerisms towards customers, give what you get kind of place. So if you’re rude, don’t expect much in return and if you’re sound, you’ll be treated like royalty.
The surrounding views, almost panoramic views on the streets of Windermere and the internal decor was inviting with the odd hint of amusement hidden in plain sight.
Throughly enjoyed the whole experience, I’ve never been anywhere with the energy this place gave, highly recommend if you’re lucky enough to eat or drink there. If I’m ever down again, I’ll definitely be returning. Not a single complaint to be made.
Oh and the toilets, totally immaculate, with a soothing and calming music playing to furthermore relax whilst...
Read moreI recently visited Brown Sugar bar restaurant while on a trip to the Lake District with my girlfriend. The venue itself is stylish, offering a great selection of drinks, including our favorite gin, Monkey 47. The atmosphere was pleasant, and my girlfriend especially enjoyed the food, particularly the truffle chips.
However, the service left much to be desired. On our first visit, the manager (or head waiter, it's unclear) was not very friendly or accommodating. We asked if he could turn on the outdoor heaters, but he gave an odd excuse as to why it wasn’t possible, despite having heaters available. This meant we had to sit outside in the cold.
we returned the next day because my girlfriend loved the food. This time, the manager seated us in an isolated corner on the top floor, even though there were many available tables. It felt uncomfortable and gave me the sense that we were being treated differently, possibly due to our accents or appearance. The attitude was unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome.
At the end of the evening, we ordered some chips to take away. When I asked for a takeaway bag, the manager rudely refused, claiming that they don’t keep bags, without any apology or politeness.
Overall, while the place is great in terms of drinks, food, and ambiance, the attitude and lack of professionalism from the manager significantly affected our experience. Unfortunately, it’s not a place I’d be eager...
Read moreAbsolutely horrendous service received at this restaurant. We went in at about 9.50pm and was informed that we had to order our food quickly as they were closing which was by far ok to me. So we ordered promptly and while we were waiting we overheard some disparaging remarks in an exchange between a waiter(grey hair and had a slight beard) and a customer who commented for us to ‘go eat your siu mai’ and that it was trash. Atrociously disturbing and an uncultured comment to make(and they said it really loudly despite knowing we could understand since we ordered in english). (Fyi we are asians but not from china). Such an unwelcoming attitude is unbelievable especially after coming to this restaurant after seeing its high rating. In addition, they set our food down very impolitely as if displaying great disdain towards us. Afterwards, 2 white ladies entered, in which they greeted very warmly in contrast to how they treated us. I believe that it is crucial for the staff to undergo etiquette training again and treat all customers equally given that we are all paying customers. For more context, no they were not busy when we entered but they did not bother greeting us. An Indian family who entered afterwards was given similar treatment and was rushed to order their meal. Unbelievably horrible service and mediocre food. Racial discrimination. Will...
