Visited the pub in June during our trip to the Lake District. We ordered some drinks using the app which is advertised on their menu, called Round. When we enquired why the order hadn't arrived after a while of waiting, we were told that they were not using the Round app for orders anymore, and that our money would be refunded after the system times out. As can be seen from the screenshot, I am still waiting for my money back which whilst it isn't a huge amount, is frustrating as we were lied to by the waitress. And if they weren't using Round anymore, why still have it on your menu? Seems like a careless oversight by management. We tried to contact the pub but have not been successful yet.

Spending a couple days in Windermere and I came in to ask if the game was on (Newcastle v Preston). Dude looked at me as if I was alien. Finally he said they were. Came back after some food nearby and ordered a couple pints. Tried to pay by card but the way he told me that it was £10 or more was terrible. He general demeanour was poor. Maybe the barman woke up the wrong side of bed or he hates doing work. Finished our drinks and headed off to somewhere were they understand customer service or even the basics like smiling, being polite or happy. If you don't want a job dealing with customers then maybe working behind a bar isn't the best option for you.

This is a decent pub, situated about 5 minutes walk from Windermere Station, so a good one to call into on the way to, or from, your train. Pub has a decent selection of beers - Moretti was the beer on this occasion - and several screens showing sport. Service good and welcoming. Gaming machine in-situ with Temple of Osiris and Big Fishing Fortune. No wins on this occasion. Unlimited crisps for Ā£5 (90 minutes) or Ā£12 for groups of four. I could eat so many crisps in 90 minutes…. šŸ˜† Small beer garden to the front. Didn’t eat there so not sure if food was available.

ARE YOU LOCAL? If not then don’t bother with this pub, the attitude of the staff is appalling. We had a drink at two other pubs in Windermere, the Crafty Baa and the Elleray and couldn’t fault them for service and friendliness. We then made the mistake of going into the Queens because we wanted to watch the football. Upon entering the establishment we saw two members of staff behind the bar who totally ignored us, we stood at the bar for a while before one of them pointed out a hand written sign about two inches square saying ā€œno service at this bar.ā€ Despite the fact the two bar staff were stood 4 feet away they wouldn’t come over to us, we had to walk round to the opposite side of the bar for service. When we were eventually served it was by one of the most miserable people we have ever met, no please or thank you. The two bar staff (one male, one female) were like extras from the League of Gentlemen but not as good looking. We sat down with our drinks and proceeded to watch the football until five minutes later a couple with dogs came in, obviously locals. They walked up to the same bar we had been refused at and were promptly served by one of the bar staff who was very friendly towards them, laughing and joking. When I asked why we had been refused service but they had not I received the reply ā€œthey’re locals.ā€ We drank up and left but not before stating our opinion to the ignorant bar staff. There are lots of really nice pubs and bars in Windermere to spend your hard earned cash, the Queens certainly isn’t one of them. We will never go in there again until there is a change of management, we have never met such rude and ignorant bar staff. Beware of this establishment, they don’t deserve your custom and there are far better places...

1st time in the Lakes and 1st review I've ever felt the need to do. So it was our last night in the Lakes and we decided to eat out in Windermere. We arrived at the opposite end from the Queens and were spoilt for choice but liked the look of the floral displays on the Quenns from the outside so decided to give it a go. First impressions I thought to myself I hope the food preparation areas are cleaner than the stairs to the restaurant! Menu had ample choice and 4 out of 5 of us fancied the curry. When it arrived the rice wasn't cooked (still hard) and the curry was full of several vegetables which weren't mentioned in the menu. We swiftly returned all 4 of these and opted for the gammon. Quantity over quality was the order of the day imo. The waitress handled the situation with a smile and paid us some lip service suggesting she had already asked other staff if there'd been any complaints about it.....may I suggest that if you think it looked poor try it for yourself before attempting to sell it. Thankfully they missed 2 drinks off the bill and the food was £6 less than it should have been, however £70 for a one course meal for 2 adults and 3 kids wasn't short change. I never rely on ratings or reviews but from now on I'll be taking notice. Perhaps if they'd paid as much attention to the quality of the food as they do to their bouquets they'd get a better rating. We won't be back that's...

We were visiting windermere for my birthday weekend. On our last evening, which in fact was my birthday we decided we would visit The Queens as it was near to our bed and breakfast.

Myself and partner decided on breaded mushrooms as a starter and fish and chips with mushy peas as our main meal. The waitress duly delivered our main meal, no starter, she did apologise and two minutes later our starter arrived. Our main meals were barely warm, mushy peas appeared as if they were straight out of the tin, very cold. Mushrooms were warm which was the only positive of our meal!!!

The young barman came to table to collect our empty glasses, asked about meal to which we replied "it was cold". He advised that he would pass on our comments to the kitchen. Two minutes later not one but two waitresses arrived, they were both advised that our meals were cold, they both looked at one another unsure how to respond, we were again advised that they would speak with the kitchen. We remained for a further 10 minutes, nobody appeared to further discuss our complaints, we left the premises in a rather deflated mood. What was a very enjoyable day ended in both myself and my partner being dissapointed in the Queens customer service. I am writing this review to advise customers to seriously purchasing food or drink from this establishment.

One very unhappy...
