Didn't live up to expectations, particularly in terms of room. Reception team did nothing to make me feel valued or welcome. I think best way to describe management approach, is lethargic, with an element of 'would rather be anywhere else'. However, some great staff in the restaurant and bar - especially Bryan, who made the dining experience at MPW memorable for the right reasons.||Premium room was disappointing. Small, badly designed. Not much hanging space, not enough work space. Bizarre rug arrangement, with corners turned upwards in front of wardrobe, (clearly wrong size for the space). Chipped laminate with sharp edges. Noisy air-con. Dim lighting. On a positive note, there were plenty of sockets, including next to the bed.||Bathroom small. Mould in sealant. Little space for toiletries. Large dispensers of Biology Essentials toiletries. Body moisturiser was grainy. Other things OK. Box of tissues in the bedroom, as no flat space big enough for a tissue box in the bathroom. Translucent bathroom door - lit up entire room when the light on. ||Mini bar included in room rate and comprised a mini bottle of cheap red wine, a mini bottle of cheap white wine, 2 bottles of Budweiser, a can of cola and a can of fizzy orange drink. Snacks - one small packet of crisps and a pack containing two biscuits. No coffee machine. A kettle and a few non-premium teabags, one sachet of instant hot chocolate and four sachets of instant coffee. Four, one portion, tubes of milk in the fridge. Two plastic bottles of water - one still and one sparkling. One pair of slippers for two people. ||One stained 'comfortable'. chair. I asked for this to be changed. I was told it would be, it wasn't. I asked for it to be changed the next day. It wasn't. Disgusting. ||Two bathrobes, one used to cover the aforementioned stained chair, so that it could be used. Call me fussy, but I am not a fan of sitting on random stains of unknown origin.||Carpets in corridors are filthy. ||Breakfast was awful. Poor range of food. Highlights include: revolting black, mushy bananas, economy, defrosted berries, slices of underripe melon. When I saw the menu, I wondered how calories count was so low - it became clear when food delivered - tiny portions of breakfast (one piece of bacon, the smallest and thinnest I have ever seen). It was obvious that things had been standing for ages (eg 'set' fried eggs). No butter! They had run out (surely someone could have popped to a supermarket and got some?) Pleasant staff though.||Overall very disappointing. No offer to help take bags to room (one of our party is elderly and has mobility issues). No-one asked if we enjoyed our stay. No checking if the stained chair had been exchanged.||Saved from a 2 star review by some very nice staff and discount in the car park. Only reason it is worth paying for a 'Premium' room, is that you get 40% discount at MPW restaurant. Note that there is no real drop off outside hotel, just advised to park on the double...
Read moreThe hotel is centrally located, one street off Dale Street and within walking distance of the waterfront. The Concierge was polite but seemed preoccupied during check-in. The dining area and bar are down a small flight of steps, which might be an issue for those with mobility challenges.
I stayed in Room 612, which was of reasonable size but faced an inner courtyard, offering no real view. The room’s entrance had a white tile floor that transitioned to wooden flooring and then carpet, paired with bold, pink-toned wallpaper. Room 612 felt noticeably smaller compared to others I saw. It was equipped with a fridge, a coffee/tea-making station, a hairdryer, and an ironing board. However, the air-conditioning unit produced significant background noise, which could be disruptive at night.
The gym was small, offering only two treadmills, one cross-trainer, a set of free weights, and a multi-station machine. Access to the gym required signing a disclaimer and having your room key activated, which wasn’t communicated in advance. This resulted in some frustration when I initially couldn’t access the gym.
The major letdown was breakfast on Wednesday morning. A large group had occupied the breakfast area on the ground level, leaving all tables full. Despite waiting over 20 minutes, my cooked breakfast had not arrived. Although the breakfast staff were doing their best, they were clearly overwhelmed. I raised the issue with the Concierge but received no response or follow-up. While breakfast on the first day was decent, the Eggs Benedict on the second day was well below average.
Additionally, the room lighting was quite dim and could use improvement, making it difficult to work or read comfortably. Between the lack of a view and the constant mechanical noise from the air-conditioning system, the ambiance felt a bit claustrophobic.
Overall, while the location is excellent and some aspects of the stay were satisfactory, the breakfast chaos and communication issues detracted significantly from...
Read moreMore like a 3 Star hotel not 4 Star hotel. I have stayed in many Hotel Indigos as an IHG member and they are usually all high standard, but not the Liverpool Hotel Indigo! Pros: Friendly reception staff on check in. Complimentaty soft drinks and water in fridge and some snacks which is a nice touch. Comfortable beds Windows open in the room. Room was clean upon check in
Cons which outweighed the pros: -calling reception - it rings for ages before anyone answers -Most of the staff including the manager were unhelpful, but there few of staff that helpful so mixed customer service quality. -very noisey no insulation you can here people walking up and down the corridors and banging doors plus you can hear guests walking and talking in the room aboveso bring ear plugs if you want to get some sleep. -Pillows are as hard as rocks and very lumpy they definitely have the cheapest poorest quality pillows I have ever experienced in any hotel. I did asked for different pillows and a nice person from reception brought me some better ones.
Multiple Housing keeping issues the next day after returning to my room after it had been cleaned, the cleaner had they left all of my dirty cups and glasses in the room next to the kettle from the day before and had also not left any clean ones. I called reception 3 times to follow up to get clean cups and glasses and had to wait over an hour to finally get them. I had asked to speak to the manager, Bradley, who did not apologise and seemed annoyed at me over something that was clearly the hotels fault. He told staff were washing the cups which was weird as you would expect the hotel to have extra cups and glasses? Finally i asked if they could just get me clean cups from the restaurant. No "do not disturb sign"was in my room and reception told me they don't have these kind of signs, but then I managed to finally get one from housekeeping.
Overall unpleasant stay and will not be staying at this hotel ever again. Also now question the quality of the...
