We would have checked out after our very first night, if it wasn’t for Bradley who managed to find us another room on the second day with a bed that didn’t poke it’s springs into our backs. They have a dysfunctional A/C system - either boiling hot or freezing, but nothing in between. Their guest relations team couldn’t care less, if they tried - this is the message I have sent them through their website contact form on our very first night without ever receiving any response (we are still in the hotel on our last day btw): “Super disappointed!!! We have checked in this evening for four nights for the purpose of attending a conference. I have chosen your hotel, as I have grown custom the ICH brand reliably providing me with a good quality hard and soft product around the world. Over many years of booking stays with ICH across the world I have also held Ambassador status for 3 years. So due to my past experience I have not researched much or checked reviews about your hotel. I could not be more disappointed with your hotel! Arriving from Australia via Germany and Manchester, I was looking forward to a good quality sleep. Unfortunately the room with a queen sized bed we were allocated was really cold despite the A/C temperature set at 29C, had evidently not been vacuumed with plastic beads and small metallic rings scattered on the floor and the USB ports weren’t working. I rang reception about it and they said they’d provide us with a different room. So after a while the lady from reception came and took us to another room on the same floor. This room was also cold, but more importantly the bed was very uncomfortable, as you’d sink straight through the mattress onto a rock hard timber base. As it was getting late at this stage and we needed to get some dinner, we thanked the front staff for relocating us but advised that it was impossible to sleep on such uncomfortable bedding. They said the hotel was full but would hand over the issue to night staff to help with when we return from dinner. By the time we managed to get out almost all kitchens were closed and all we got to eat in Liverpool was greasy pizza with too much cheese… Upon returning to the hotel the night front desk staff advised the options we had was to go back to the first room or stay where we were in the second. I declined either option and finally got offered yet another room on a lower floor with two double beds. The night reception staff we would only have this room for one night, as it was a higher category and then have to move again. While this room was finally warm, both the double beds are really uncomfortable - super soft and bumpy and lumpy. Excuse the language, but where are you getting your mattresses from? Are they second-hand brothel mattresses, because that’s how I’d imagine it would feel to sleep on one…? I am literally flabbergasted. To top it off neither of the bedside USB ports is functional and the hot water tap over the bath tub cannot be turned off. What is going on here?? I don’t have time to deal with stuff like this, I’ll be attending the conference everyday from tomorrow (Tuesday). When I come back from the first day of my conference tomorrow afternoon I’d like to be allocated yet another room that’s reflective of a 4-star ICH quality with a comfortable(!) queen or ideally a king-sized bed that has functional temperature control, USB ports...

Room was lovely great view of the Mersey. The room was a typical quality room. Large king size bed with complimentary bottled water either side on the headrest table.
Everything was as one would expect for this standard of hotel room
there was nothing I could fault at all. I was very happy with my accommodation.,
The Bar is open plan and the staff again very friendly. There was a football match on the telly over in the far right of the room but the sound was down very low if not off and it did not disturb me in the slightest (not a football fan)
the location of the hotel is wonderful it is directly opposite the Liver building and the Ferry terminal is less than 200m away. You are in the Albert Dock area with all the attraction that that brings and it is a very interesting short walk around the area. The town centre (shopping) is a very short walk across the main road opposite the Albert dock area and you enter a bustling, busy shopping area with loads of high street shops and cafe's. So all in all the hotel and the locational fantastic. MY only reason for 4 stars and not 5 was the restaurant at the hotel. I had an evening email there, again the staff were great very helpful and friendly etc. However the food was not the best. I had a steak which was cook okay but the open flame they used to char the outside what ever it was mad the steak taste chemically. perhaps it was the fire used I don't know but it did not taste that good. then in the morning I attended breakfast which I was very much looking forward to as I am on a diet and was having a morning off and going to treat myself to a lovely cooked English breakfast. Well I was to say the least very disappointed. I arrived at the start of service so everything should have been fresh. The sausages were quite tough so they appeared to have been either over cooked or cooked and left then reheated. The mushrooms and the grilled tomato was cold so again these had been precooked but had not been reheated properly.. The staff again were very good no problems but the food just was not up to standard. So in summary this is lovely hotel that I would recommend and would stay at again the room location and staff were all beyond reproach. the restaurant let the place down. If I do return which I hope to, I would take. short walk out into...

The housekeeping including the cleanliness in the rooms are 1st class and cannot complain whatsoever on this. The breakfasts are very good and perhaps one of the best breakfasts we have had whilst staying in a British hotel. The friendliness of the staff in the dining room was very welcoming. The price paid for the 3 nights B/B was very reasonable compared to other 4 star hotels we have stayed in on other occasions. Liked the idea of the ‘waste bins’ immediately outside the ground floor level when exiting the lift as quite often many people have too much waste to ‘offload’ in their bedrooms and does make this time consuming for the domestic staff - good idea on that one! The hotel is geographically positioned at a quieter end of the City with the beautiful Liver building across the road. N.B. This city has many very impressive buildings to view.||Now for the negatives:- ||The hotel attractive as it is is geographically situated at the far end of the City itself, so most shops, restaurants and general eateries, are not on your doorstep, even for example a chemist are not a stone’s throw away but a good walk away. TBH we did primarily book this hotel because of the secured parking and felt that this hotel offered this as the car park is on site and not a distance from the hotel which most of the other hotels are, but it comes at a cost of £19.50 per day (we stayed for 3 days) which we felt the price was too steep. When I booked this hotel we didn’t realise that many rooms are facing the busy road which unfortunately we found on the first night with constant traffic constantly disturbing our sleep. Went to reception the following morning and Leah (very good and attentive receptionist) did fortunately get us moved to the opposite side (water front) for the remaining 2 nights at no extra cost, but only just - wish we had been aware of this beforehand, so do check if you prefer a quiet night’ sleep. This is a very busy large corporate hotel and if you require a more ‘homely’ atmosphere with a warmer feel this hotel may...
