I stayed at Astor Museum Hostel for two weeks! First I picked the place bc of the name since it had Museum in it. Speaking of which, it's like literally across the street from the British Museum. I mean you'd have to pay soo much money to stay in such a central location in London! However, Astor Museum is very economical which is just wonderful bc it allows more people to be able to enjoy staying in central London. Thereby making the heart of London more accessible for all people. Furthermore, what really makes this a real gem are the people working there themselves! I thank the team at Astor Museum for making my stay comfortable esp Mr. Tristan and Mr. Shaemus who we're very kind towards me and helpful in anything I needed. Mr Tristan showed me great kindness and Mr. Shaemus was very understanding towards me. Attori, manager was, also, nice. The amenities offered are greater than any other hostel I've ever stayed at! You'll be in for a nice surprise as far as the amenities go but I won't ruin the surprise for you! Oh, also, delicious Cadbury hot chocolate on the house! A full range kitchen for all of your cooking needs. Beds are comfy. Rooms are neat and clean. They're cleaned everyday. And the bathrooms are like thoroughly cleaned multiple times a day which was a nice added touch. Everyone working there is very professional but my personal favorites so far are Tristan and Shaemus but to be honest everyone was cool I liked meeting everyone there. Tristan is the man! In fact, I'm a little sad to have to go! Although, I'm afraid there's some like 14 day rule where guests are only allowed to stay for upto two weeks or else, like trust me I'd definitely stay the whole month if not longer. I can safely say I loved staying here! And Oh my gosh the washing machine is like literally the best I've used on my travels of several months in over five countries, so far. In fact, they're washing machine is like literally better than mine back home haha. So it's safe to say I've had a wonderful stay at Astor Museum and I most certainly look forward to coming back and staying with these nice people in the near future, again! They have my 100% review and trust me I'm a picky person and hard to please! But I really do like...

Check in was nice and easy, the staff ready to answer my questions. There was a code for the security door, and I feel this should be written down, as people like myself, will forget very easily. My room was in a separate building from the kitchen and laundry and other common areas. It was a couple streets away, but definitely dissuaded me from using common areas. The rooms were relatively clean, just superficial scuffs and scratches really. The bunk beds ladder was BAD and I slipped climbing down, and the sides of the ladder rungs are rounded, and no sides to it. The plug sockets at the head of the bed are very good, both normal sockets and USB ports. However I did have to ask a roommate how the USB ports worked (press the button next to the ports). The bedding was kind of what I expected, though the cover was rather thin for the time of year. The bathrooms are my biggest issue; 2 showers and 2 toilets for a whole building of people, at least 6 to a room, or more. It was very hard to get a shower because of this. Something I was rather concerned about was one of the sides missing on my top bunk. It would be okay if it weren't up against a bay window, where I could've fallen out of, onto the radiator below. Something like a privacy curtain could be nice, but I didn't expect much of that from Astor. The location wasn't half bad, decent distance to the bus stops so travel wasn't too bad. Had a little trouble finding the building at first, but I'll attribute that to the dark. The breakfast wasn't exactly what I thought it would be, but I managed to cook some scrambled eggs at least. Overall, don't expect a high quality hostel, this is definitely a "bed only" situation, fine for...

AVOID AVOIID AVOID THIS HORRENDOUS PLACE|nothing works properly, it's run by kids who thinks it's acceptable to laugh iny your face when you rightfully upset about something or completely blank your issue down the phone and laugh to other people down the phone to you |The breakfast is awful they say you get this and that but it's bread and coffee...|I was bullied one night by ab absolute div who came in late then banged my bed for 2 hours telling me to turn on my side I'm snoring ..when I challenged him and took it to reception their not bothered answer was well one of you will have to move rooms....yeah OK I'd been bullied for 2 hours to take it to them and they okd his actions by saying I might need to move rooms not him... they all need to go back to service school ans learn what actual customer service is because it' seems like its just a hang out for the foreign staff to treat it like their house and we aren't the customers....its all about them only .....washing machines and dryers don't work properly. Nothing really works a bit like their manners....I've stayed everywhere and I have a condition meaning I have sleep apnea but it's never been that bad and I stay worry where without a single problem yet these guys told me I'm not allowed to stay anymore at their hotels because I snore....the last night I was there a girl snored the whole night but what do we expect with a cheaper room but to be told I can't stay again even though I produced proof I have a condition medically and that's illegal to say thar because it's discrimination...teated appallingly byclueless kids...all with the manners and Comcern of...

It’s a brilliantly located hostel. However, as other reviewers have commented, I’m surprised at this hostel’s high rating. Because although the staff here are super friendly and accommodating, everything else is poor. Beds don’t have privacy curtains, which in today’s world, is pretty unforgivable. Especially when the dorms can be so hot that guests sleep on top of their bedding with little clothing! I moved to a different dorm during my stay, both were very noisy and very warm (during good weather). They are no hooks to hang anything including wet towels, so dorms are messy. The bathroom for my first dorm was small, old and felt dirty. By contrast, the bathroom for my second dorm was modern and clean - world’s apart! The entire property isn’t particularly clean, partly because they rely on the live-in staff to do the cleaning, rather than using a proper cleaning company like most other hostels do. The staff are lovely, but they are not professional cleaners. There’s a real lack of communal space to have some alone time, or do some work. The TV room is small, leaving only the kitchen area, which is always busy. Also, annoyingly the kitchen must be vacated mid-morning (at exactly when guests will want to make breakfast) so that the staff can clean it - bad decision! The laundry situation was dire, with one machine, that was partly broken. I loved the staff, so I wish this hostel was better, but it’s pretty terrible. There are MUCH better London hostels for your money.

I stayed there for 4 days in beginning of October 2023. My expectations were not that high but the first night killed it for me. After waking up in the middle of the night, I something on my leg. I shaked it off and then I was wondering about a black dot walking on the bed. I made turned on the flash and hoped to not wake my roommates. Turns out to be a bug. Trigger alert - i decided to smash it. After that I realized that it was filled with blood. I took a picture with the flash and was googeling about sort of bugs with blood. The only thing that really matched was a bed bug. I went to the reception and the guy was nice but he said he needs his manager. I came again when she was there. So here goes my problem with the hostel. The manager said that this was a mosquito, and just was not really on my side. I could tell. After that a guy joined (forgot what his position was). He made my look like a lier by saying it's not their sheets. I solved it by taking a picture with flash right in front of his eyes. After 1,5 hour of arguments and explaining they called the head to give me another bed. I accepted the offer and I did had no problem with a bug there. I hope with this critic to give you a chance to increse in your customer support. I didnt feel like you took me serious or trustable and I didn't feel understood with the disgust I felt. Apparently I was the first who had this problem. But if you have the same experience as me, don't let them intimitate you.

Amazing Stay at Astor Museum Hostel! I recently stayed at the Astor Museum Hostel in London, and it exceeded all my expectations! The location is absolutely unbeatable – right next to the British Museum and within walking distance of some of London’s best attractions. It made exploring the city so easy and convenient. The hostel itself has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always available to offer great tips on things to do around the city. They made me feel at home from the moment I checked in. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained. I loved the comfortable beds and the fact that the hostel had plenty of storage space for luggage. The common areas were perfect for meeting fellow travelers, with a vibrant social vibe that made the experience even more enjoyable. Another standout feature was the breakfast – a simple but delicious selection to kickstart the day. The kitchen was well-equipped, and I appreciated the option to prepare meals whenever I needed. Overall, my stay at Astor Museum Hostel was fantastic. It’s an affordable, friendly, and comfortable place that’s perfect for anyone wanting to explore London. I highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again!
