I visited Fishoria after reading positive reviews and despite the higher prices, hoping for a good experience. Unfortunately, my visit was very disappointing because of the behavior of the staff member, Denise.
While she was extremely pleasant and attentive to other customers, I experienced demeaning and disrespectful treatment. When I asked a simple question about my order, she responded condescendingly, speaking as if I were unintelligent, and even laughed while talking to me, looking at other customers. For example, I asked if my meal came with tartar sauce, and she replied, “My dear, if you want fries, I’ll give you fries,” with a clear “what an idiot” expression. No context to my question whatsoever.
Her behavior made me feel small and visibly upset.
I also noticed that the food I received was different from what other customers were served. The same items I ordered were served to me within minutes, clearly not freshly cooked, while others received their meals after proper preparation. My meal was cold, greasy, and had clearly been sitting on display for a while.
When I requested takeaway, she exclaimed loud in front of everyone from the counter to my table, seemingly to make me feel foolish, and made confusing comments about pricing differences. It was obvious she treated different customers with visible bias.
Not sure where the bias or mistreatment came from but nothing that couldn’t be dealt with a bit of sincerity and kindness.
This completely ruined what could have been a pleasant dining experience. I hope management addresses this and ensures all customers are treated with respect...
Read moreIt was a disappointing visit after having high expectations from previous reviews.
We were seated quickly on a small window table for 2 with my son, but another table for 2 was really close to us, so it felt like an invasion of personal space. On booking, I did ask for a quiet corner table because my son has to inject insulin and prefers a little privacy.
Drinks service was fairly quick but our server struggled to understand what I was ordering, which was a bottle of wine, a beer and tap water, so I had to explain 3 times on what we wanted and when brought out, it was a glass of wine not the bottle.
Food order was taken, I ordered traditional battered haddock which came with a dash of peas & tartare sauce, I asked to swap tartare sauce for extra peas. My son ordered grilled tuna, initially told not available but suddenly it was.
Food was served after expected waiting time. My son's tuna steak looked small but huge side salad. Haddock was served curved, which looked off putting, which means it was put in the fryer skin side down as opposed to skin up, which prevents fish curving during cooking. Haddock tasted ok and very thin skin, which is good, but portion size was small.
Mushy peas tasted like from a tin and disappointing chips. These did not appear to be cut chips from freshly peeled potatoes in the restaurant. With the thin batter like crispy texture, I suspect these were bought in fresh in a bag catering chipped potatoes, which are cooked fresh out of the bag, but tend to have a frozen chips texture,...
Read moreWhile in London for a few days visiting our daughter, my wife, daughter and I decided on Mediterranean food one night, so I did a Google search of the area, came across Myra, and based on multiple good reviews, decided that Myra was where we wanted to go. And it was a great decision. I could tell immediately when we walked in that it was going to be good. The vibe was great, it was busy but not overcrowded, and quite welcoming. It's not a huge place, but cozy and inviting. We were seated and quickly helped by who I assumed was the owner given the way he treated us and everyone else, handling the orders and delivering the food and drinks with a smile. This was BURAK, and I was convinced he was the owner over the course of the night, but when I finally asked, he said he was the manager. Well, the owner should be quite pleased because it is obvious Burak handles the place with the care and passion that an owner would. Food was outstanding. And I say this after eating out every night for the prior three weeks as we traveled through Switzerland and parts of France, Luxembourg and Belgium. We started with the king prawn appetizer, and my wife and daughter both had the sea bass and I had the salmon. Fantastic. Beer and wine was great too. We declined dessert but Burak brought over a few cannoli which were lovely. I highly recommend Myra. Prices were perfectly affordable. We had a very pleasant dinner and evening in general. All we could...
