Very Unproffesional Back up service for the Museum.
I live in SW16 area & a friend who lives in the SE1 area decided to check the Museum out on Thursday 29th Nov 17.
I had checked the web site and all seemed ok, arrived at the entrance around 3.15pm, only to find a sign saying Museum was closed & to contact the number displayed on the sign.
Rang the number only to be told that their was no one to take my call & to leave my name & number & someone would call me back (still waiting 04/12/17)
We were not the only people to be disappointed as Scottish gentleman (& lady friend) who were looking to view the Museum who said it must be closed (jokingly) as its St Andrews Day.
Only reason its getting a one star. as its the only way to leave a review.
I'm not expected the line to be manned 24/7 but calls could be transferred to the curator? or leave a reason why the museum is closed on the voice message service, it's not Rocket Science (or is it!!).
Hope the doors aren't locked when l attend the Stteptoe & Son show in Jan 2018
Hope Martin Witt's checks out the reviews re feedback for his Museum of...
Read moreI try not to make hanging around in the crypts below churches too much of a habit but sometimes in life comedy can be found in the most absurd of situations and in this case , places. This may be one of the first museums dedicated to artefacts related to comedians and if I am right then it is shameful given Britain's place in the world as one of the great industrial engines of mirth. For those that are sinful enough to considert drinking below a house of God , there is a bar and in addition there is a 100 seat space / theatre / purgatory for those that wish to laugh before they are made ready for eternal heaven / damnation.
You may think hanging around underneath a church would be chilling enough but these wags have installed some ice cold air - con !
Oh yes I have laughed a lot here but for reasons of respect / fear would not dream.of admitting that to me Mammy ....
I would have given this august establishment five stars but who in their right mind wants to admit to enjoying hanging around in a crypt even if it is filled with comedy greats such as the great Tommy Cooper...
Read moreThis place is fantastic. I recently took my improvised comedy group, Insert Laughter Here, to perform for our London/Camden Fringe debut shows, and we had an absolutely wonderful time. The museum itself is beautiful, houses a great many treasures and tributes to comedy legends new and old. The staff were a delight to work with, constantly helpful throughout the runup to our shows and then during the show days themselves. I have since recommended it to several friends who are now considering performing there in the future. As an audience member it's a great place too, we visited to see a stand-up night a few weeks prior to our performances - the room is very intimate and perfect for comedy - got to see Mark Watson and Vix Leyton as if they were sat in our living room talking to us. Cannot do anything other than sing the museum's praises, the fantastic team are keeping a lovely thing going...
