We stayed with Hotel Bell Tent at Carfest South. The staff were absolutely lovely. We know it is tricky coming out of Covid but there were issues with what was promised and what was delivered. I can understand this if letters had been sent out well in advance but this was on soft copy sent out near the event. Answering the question would we book again, the answer is probably YES but our expectations would be lower. The main issues were - There were not any 'goodie' bags, they said this was because of Covid and yet we did get eye masks. When I dug deeper it was because the supply company could not supply and a replacement wasn't found. Details said there was a viewing area over the car track. There wasn't one. Other niggles were - You were supplied one pillow and if you wanted another it was £10 extra Saying all that - as I said the staff were lovely. The tents themselves were good and when we told them about a rip in my pillowcase it was replaced. The loos and shower facilities were really good and kept really clean which was BRILLIANT. In fact we would go back to the site (5-10 min walk) to use the loo's during the day because they were so much better than the Carfest facilities. The wine sold at the bar was in tins which you can understand being on a farm however the quality of the wine was really not good and we ended up choosing to go without rather than drink it. So to sum up, the place, the tents and the staff were great. They over promised and under delivered on what to expect but it was a great experience and lovely to go back to, relax and watch the main stage on a screen when you wanted a break. A tough event to cover with the...
Read moreSome bits of our Hotel Bell Tent experience were great, some could be improved. We were given a hand to move our things to the tent, as well as a small cart thing which was excellent. Generally speaking the "site" was clean, tidy, well organised and quiet - couldn't have asked for more here. There were ample toilets and showers and they were kept very clean - this was a big plus.
The food on offer was pretty good, breakfast was okay and the idea of having coffee on tap throughout was a nice touch. The food was 'good', but honestly festival food has improved so much in recent years it had tough competition.
My only gripes were that our tent had a lot of extra creatures in it (earwigs namely), I get that this is camping, and I get that these tents were probably put up days in advance of the festival, so it's an occupational hazard. But there were literally 50+ of them we just kept finding them over the whole weekend. This would probably make us just take our own tent next time. It tainted things a little.
The only other gripe was 'Value', this is of course subjective, but it was well £1000. What you actually got for that was pretty much as advertised, so I couldn't challenge that, but next time we'll just take our own tent and put some of the £ towards buying our own 'glamping' kit. Personal preference no doubt.
If you don't flinch a bit at the price it's probably fine, the staff, offering in...
Read moreWe stay with with HBT at Carfest every year. This was our 11th year and we cannot fault it. The team goes the extra mile every single year. This year, our tent wasn't quite ready on arrival and our entire party was offered a free cooked breakfast while we sat in luxury and waited for the tent to be prepared! The team is just fantastic! Nothing is ever too much. The site is amazing, the facilities are spotless (there is always a team of staff outside the loos ready to clean!) and the showers were piping hot all weekend. The bar and food tent were brilliant this year. We love seeing the same team members each year too which says a lot for the company that the staff want to stay and work year after year. We weren't going to travel to Silverstone and this was going to be our final year but after this year's visit .... we decided we wouldn't miss it for the world. Roll on 2026 and another stay at this fantastic HBT site. We love everything that you...
