Wandle Pirates STEAKHOUSE — Restaurant in London

Now this is a quirky place! We were wandering on a Saturday looking for a place for lunch and stumbled upon here. At first we thought it was just a bar but we were ushered in and shown menus. The service here is great, whilst I didnt catch names, the gentleman who I assume was the manager was lovely and joked around with us a lot. The decor may not be to everyone's tastes but it gives you plenty to look at whilst waiting for your food. Whilst I didn't drink, the rum selection was very impressive! We ordered 6 of the tapas dishes to share between 2 of us which was plenty - 4 seafood dishes and 2 side dishes. The calamari is the most generously portioned dish, you get huge amounts! We had the crab claw which was delicious but a bit too much work for me to be honest as it was a battle to get into it! There was some confusion at the end as we asked for the bill but weren't bought it after 10 minutes or so; we weren't sure whether we should go up and pay at the till or they would bring it to us! Wandle Pirates is just a delight!!! They have unbelievable seafood tapas, fast and warm service that treats you like a mate and dry-aged steaks that are jaw-droppingly good and you simply won’t find this level of steak for this price in central London. The lamb and chicken meatballs are absolute must-tries, bursting with flavour and perfectly cooked. The olives!!! Oh, the olives!!! Let’s just say that are best I’ve ever eaten! The cocktails deserve a shout too! Their selection is creative, beautifully garnished and so tasteful! The place is spotless and you can tell every plate has been crafted with love, each garnish carefully placed! I also just can’t get over the desserts (yes, me and my girlfriend tried all three). We had a brilliant day out, felt genuinely welcomed, and enjoyed delicious food and drinks in this lovely cozy restaurant (the outside vibes are also amazing over summer time). Wonderful gem of a family run business. The food was exquisite and service was brilliant.

We celebrated a birthday here and pre ordered the seafood caldeirada. Everything was cooked perfectly, the ribeye steak was melt in the mouth and so succulent. The chimichurri sauce could have been more flavourful. The seafood portions was extremely generous. We also ordered the octopus tentacle, scallops and king prawns to share. Again, excellent produce and seared to perfection! The vegetarians tried almost all the veggie tapas options which were cooked nicely.

Dessert was also lovely, we tried all three options!

They have a large selection of alcohol, especially rum and offered to make any cocktail we’d like.

The service was attentive and really made the celebration special.

It’s a small intimate venue among other shops therefore the toilet facilities are offsite, around the corner. Parking was limited but we found a spot. Be careful of residential parking...
