We had a great time in London but the Lord Kensington Hotel is not a place I would return. We needed a room last minute as our VRBO fell through--found this and thought it'd be okay. However, the rooms are really small with old carpeting and unprotected mattresses (even though they looked new--I was surprised to see them exposed and vulnerable to any bedbugs or other stains). We were visiting during some of the hottest days in London so not having AC was an inconvenience but wound up being okay. The staff was nice and gave us a fan to use- but I am not sure all the rooms had fans available. The key cards never worked so it was annoying to have to reconfigure them each time we came back to the hotel. There was a safe where we were able to keep our valuables so that was helpful. Since it was so hot we had to keep the window open all night. The view of the backyard was essentially a junk yard with weeds and discarded furniture. Plus, the hotel is located so close to the metro that you can hear the breaks squealing while sleeping. We slept pretty well considering the noise and the heat, to be fair, but that's because we pounded the pavement all day and all night so we were dog tired. The photos on the website are misleading as the hotel is in major need of a renovation. Again, staff was sweet but just want others to know what they...
Read moreI have stayed with my friend at the Lord Kensington Hotel last weekend. The hotel staff were accommodating, helpful and friendly. My friend forgot his adapter and the receptionist was so kind and lend him his charger for a day. It is also worth mentioning that we got a couple of good recommendations for some exquisite Fish and Chips, an authentic pub (Troubadour - it’s just around the corner) and a fantastic idea for our first day (Thames Clipper to Canary Wharf and Chinese Breakfast). Our rooms were clean and serviced daily. My friend didn’t want his to be cleaned so he requested it at the reception, which was possible. I was glad to see that our bathrooms had only one faucet not the basins which have hot and cold water separated, which are rather common in the UK (how do you use those; it remains a mystery). We had complimentary Wi-Fi, which was working good enough to call my family and friends and stream some series in the evening. All in all the place was exactly what we wanted and we will stay here again. Thank you for...
Read moreBed bugs couple of nights had my daughter wake up because somethings biting her head and arms(showed photo of the bug to receptionist this morning at check out time). Next room guest were slamming their door midnight and early hours. Don't know if attendant heard it as he was just 2.doors.away. A couple of our 500ml water Buxton disappear when we came back from a day out. No air conditioning at set prize. Fan was detailed but it had not been clean for century. You could see aCotton white like dust outside and inside tge fan. Tried to clean it but it was just too far to reach. Funny side of it is that the evening we came back it was already on the front desk reception area ventilating. Would not risk using it as my daughter have asthma and allergies. Good thing about the hotel is it's proximity to Earls Court station other than that I would not recommend to families of similar...
