After having a few prior positive experiences at Equal Parts, this one was more than disappointing to say the least.
Myself and my friend walked in and stood by the bar (as two other customers were also doing) to order a drink. We were then told by staff to sit down and they will get to us in a minute. This was absolutely fine, so we obviously agreed and sat at a table waiting. After 30 minutes of waiting passed us by, my friend went up to the bar again as we noticed the staff were standing and not making any drinks. They once again told us to sit down and they'll be with us soon. After 45 minutes of still not being served, we tried our luck again and went up to the bar, before my friend could even get a word out, he was met with such distain and venom from staff who yelled in his face saying she would "only be a moment".
Now a grand total of an hour had passed since we first sat down and 3 failed attempts to order 2 drinks. The staff who yelled at us came to take our order. We apologised saying we didn't mean to put any pressure on staff and we were met back with a less then believable reciprocated apology.
Finally, 20 minutes later, we get in our order of 2 drinks. Lo and behold, half an hour passes and we never received our oder. As we sat idly by watching every person who ordered after us get drinks, whether they were large or small orders that did not seem to make a difference.
An hour and half of sitting and waiting, we decided to give up. As we never receiving our drinks, we left. We then walked by one of the bar staff sat who was sat on the pavement having a cigarette break.
The way this experience made me feel was as if I was back at school grovelling at the popular kids to be nice to me and not steal my lunch money. I was so uncomfortable feeling as though I had really done something horrible. Upsetting that this is my first ever google review which goes to show how awful and grating the place and...
Read moreReally upset with me and my friends experience at Equal Parts. Really great atmosphere, great interior and from past visits the cocktails are good. Unfortunately this will all be ruined by the genuinely aggressive behaviour from the staff.
We were greeted warmly and we made sure to be warm back. I asked for a fork to eat some food I'd brought in - they denied my request (fair enough, business is business) and I apologised for asking..
We were then rudely gestured to to sit down, even though several others had ordered at the bar. We were assured someone would take our order .... 30 minutes later someone came and snatched the menu off the table. I followed them to the bar and asked if it's ok if we order - she then very aggressively said to give her a moment. 10 Minutes later they came over to take our order - I felt the need to apologise in case I had upset them (which I regret doing) and she reassured me that it wasn't me but instead the fact that it was busy..... I've been working in bars for 7 years - it was not busy.
At this point 4 tables that had arrived after us had been served and were enjoying their drinks.
30 minutes later - no drinks show, me and my friend walk out, very upset by the whole experience. We weren't alone in walking out either- another table walked as they had a similar experience.
The whole interaction felt extremely personal and made me and my friend very very uncomfortable, we were left wondering if its because we weren't wealthy presenting? Many of the clientele in there were seemed quite affluent and they were treated very well.
Would not recommend equal parts to anyone, unless you have a degradation kink.
Sevente, which is a 30 second walk away is much nicer and the Staff are...
Read moreMet by lovely staff on the door, enjoyed a mix of cocktails and natural wine, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, however, the most salient part of our experience was the seeming contempt our waitress had for us. With a carefully curated atmosphere, set out to to immerse guests in a relaxing and enjoyable experience, alongside marvellous drinks, one would assume the same standard to be applied to service given by waiting staff; instead, we were kept on edge by a genuinely hostile waitress. We did our best to be polite and thank her consistently throughout our time at the establishment, only to be met by the aggressive throwing of menus, disinterest in our questions around drink recommendations, and the incessant cold sneers in seeming acquiescence to our drink requests. I continued, in vain, to remain polite and said thank you to the waitress as we paid the bill (with a service charge levied at 12.5%), to which she quite literally shrugged back to me in response - as a final flourish.
When drinks are priced at a premium, and kindness nothing, we were left bitterly disappointed on what was supposed to be an enjoyable New...
