It was incredibly bad one of the worst stays in hotel I have ever had the only thing that did what it was supposed to do was the bed and even then it was not a double it was two Singles pushed together the TV did not work the TV has no remote when they brought me a remote it was the wrong one for the TV the bathroom flooded and got always stink of cannabis when I went down and spoke to the night porter is reply to me was what you expect me to do about it at this time so by this time the smell of cannabis had engulfed our room there was an inch of water in the bathroom it was in the middle of that heatwave we was having I could not open the window as the smell of cannabis had become that bad we were feeling the effects through passive in inhalation when they brought the fan up it did not work it was advertised that the restaurant was open till 10 we got there at 7:30 and was told it was closed we was then told that the bar closed at 10 but was advertised as as being open to residents until they'd finished serving so if we decided to remain in the bar it would be open until we decided to leave so we had not eaten that evening as expected to be able to arrive and dine in the restaurant but it closed at 7:30 instead of the advertised 10 then we asked for room service we was told this was not available as the woman who is duties included room service whistling training so she was unable to carry a tray of the stairs witch meant that I had to go out of the hotel to the local McDonald's also had to buy 20 pound of data so we could watch movies on my phone as the TV did not work SO2 summarise I had paid £80 for me and my partner hotel bed and breakfast consisted of access to a restaurant that was open until 10 p.m. a bar which remained open as long as residents of the hotel we're still there to drink to drink room service Wi-Fi TV with basic cable and capability of making tea and coffee in the room instead we received two single beds pushed together to make a double a TV that did not work a restaurant that closed at 7 p.m. a bar that was not open after 10 p.m. regardless of whether we was in there or not a bathroom that flooded with at least an inch of water across the whole of the floor a room and hallways that's stunk of cannabis we was brought a fan that did not work as we were unable to open the window due to feeling the effects of the cannabis through second inhaling the remote that was brought for up for the TV was the wrong remote for the TV that we had in the room so I had to go out and fetch McDonald's for food £20 worth of credit in order to have the data to watch movies we was unable to order room service as the member of staff training when we ordered whose duties that came breakfast in the morning we only received half of our breakfast halfway...

Location of this hotel is perfect. The failures of this hotel unfortunately outweigh the location greatly.

The first room offered was freezing cold. All of the air conditioning in the hotel is driven by one source and cannot be individually controlled in each room. The hotel did not appear to have the air conditioning turned on, it was three degrees Celsius outside. The room had also not been cleaned properly - probably in weeks judging by the bathroom and carpet.

The next room we were offered, after complaining about the first, had an electric oil radiator in. This did make a difference. The second room was much cleaner but the main shower was cold until you turned on the cold tap for the bath and then it was really hot. Odd but functional. Another guest was given this room after we had taken it and walked in, obviously expecting the room to be empty - a little awkward and demonstrated bad room logistics and management.

The lift, the one of two that was working, had a very odd method of floor selection and several people found it hard to get up and down from the upper floors as the lift would go in the opposite direction when you were in it and a floor or two away from your floor. From the lower floors most people ended up using the stairs instead - the route down the stairs was not straight forward as you had to cut through the restaurant and conference area to get from floor one to the ground floor. I dread to think how this would have been in a fire situation as it was not clearly signed.

All in all, if you are stuck for a night and this is the cheapest you can get - forget the Travelodge opposite (see my other review of how bad that was) - then one night is bearable. Personally, I'd pay another £20 a night for a different hotel, even if not the best location. A real shame as this building has excellent opportunity to be an...

After booking the hotel for the night in advance got to the hotel with our photo I.D one of which was a passport that had expired but can clearly see that I haven't changed from the photo I also had my debit card for I.D and my partner had a unexpired passport...i was asked if I had any other photo I.D I explained that I don't as I don't drive and I'm old enough to not need proof of age anymore I was asked if I had a bus pass or work I.D which I don't, I was then informed that they was not going to book us in to the hotel without it, I asked what I was ment to do as we were miles from home and our return tickets for train wasn't going to be used till the following day was pretty much told that wasn't their problem by a stone faced receptionist who wasn't at all helpful, I asked if we could get a refund and was told to call customer service I then asked how long it would take to be told 3 to 5 days...so my night away in Nottingham became a night stranded with no room no way of getting home and no money to book a new hotel room...when I called to get the refund was told that it was actually going to take 2 weeks...I can't understand why they would accept a work I.D which are not officially government documents and anyone with a printer a laminator and half a brain could make at home but would not accept a official government document expired or not, then be totally unhelpful and uncaring about leaving us stranded...would advise people to totally avoid because if there is any problem u will be left...

Unclean, dilapidated and smelly... unfortunately I was hoping for something a lot better after paying £139.00 for one night in the Britannia Hotel. Staff were friendly but the rest of the hotel needs to be closed for serious refurbishment. The corridors stink of damp/old carpets and furniture. Rooms are tiny and poorly laid out. Tacky furniture is dated and beyong chipped along with a TV that's probably heading on for about 15 years old at least. The rooms telephone looks like it's been around for even longer and has the dirt and grime to prove it. The entrance ways light was out and hadn't been fixed. The rest of the hotel was a truly depressing experience and I just wanted to leave. The smell and dingy ambience didn't make it a pleasent experience at all. Please check the photos out to see what I mean. The Premiere Inn is just over the road... go there

Walk in, everything looks pretty good. Staff friendly. Then you get in the lift and it begins. Lift is dirty, scribbles on walls. You step out the lift and carpets are filthy and stained. Walls were due painting several years ago. Enter the bedroom. Floor just as bad, light fitting filthy, walls with bits of plaster missing and scruffs everywhere. Appliances not PAT tested including kettle and oil heater. Chair had 2 wobbly legs, bathroom in dire need of re-grouting and sealing. And here's the cracker. The window is 'sealed' with duct tape. Yes that's right, the window has an out of service sign, wobbles away, a nice strong breeze coming through and is sealed the whole way round with duct tape. Oh and there were Maltesers under the bed and some small lumps of marijuana on the dresser (very distinct smell)

Terrible experience! We entered the room on 1st floor and realised that it will be worth to pay the 10pounds extra for another hotel. One night 45pounds /without internet and TV was not working/ Dirty spots on carpet, dirty windows, no curtains/instead wooden shadowers/ Bathroom -cracked floor + some hair visible on floor and only soap + spots on towel. Lastly, the bed photo - looks like chocolate between the lines/see pictures/ Wifi you need to pay extra. If you need that 45+7=52pounds After one hour not be able to even sit on bed and taking the picture, we went to check out. Hopefully we will get the money back. We crossed the road and booked Park Plaza for 60. Much more better choice and just 1 star and 8pounds difference. Even some 2stars hotels in the same price looks better.
