When I first moved to Philadelphia, my mom thought that it would be a great idea to buy me an air mattress instead of a real one to save transport hassle and money. What a mistake! I used it for about a week and my back was killing me, not to mention it didn't even begin to fit in my bed frame! So, being new to the area, the desperate hunt for a mattress store began. Sleepy's was close to my apartment, so I checked there first. Horrible. I needed a no-frills queen size mattress on a graduate school budget and I needed it ASAP. The salesman was nice, but he was trying everything in his power to get me to commit to a mattress, cover, and some special head-cooling pillow before leaving the store - a mattress that was going to take a week to arrive and that they were going to charge me $99 to ship to my apartment right around the corner! No thank you!

Then I found the Mattress Outlet. It seems too good to be true, but it isn't. Vic met me at the showroom and inquired about my budget. Embarrassed about my lack of money, I hesitantly said that $300 would be my absolute upper limit, but I knew even that was a stretch. To my surprise and relief, he cheerfully replied that $300 was a lot and he had just the mattress I needed for something around $199! He told me I didn't even need to buy a box spring since my bed is a slatted Ikea frame! In 2 or 3 days, he delivered the mattress to my apartment free of charge and even helped me carry it up the stairs, as I'm just a tiny person! He told me to hold off on my review until I was sure that I loved the mattress and could write an honest assessment. Well, it's been months now since my initial purchase and I still couldn't be happier! My bed looks perfect, I have the support and comfort I need, and I sleep so soundly here that I'm actually worse off when I visit home! Wow! Let me just start by saying what AMAZING customer service Vic provides! Here is why I recommend and give 5 stars to The Mattress Outlet.... My husband and I needed a mattress for our 2nd guest room quickly as we were having extra guests stay for a Halloween party that night. We had just bought a mattress (in stock) from Sleepys the day before with the condition of sale dependent on whether they could deliver it the following day- long story short, Sleepy's was not able to deliver and the mattress order was cancelled. I quickly searched for an alternative & happily found Vic at The Mattress Outlet. I knew what kind of mattress I wanted & called to find out what they had in stock. Vic- the owner, answered the phone and kindly assisted me by explaining which mattresses he had available that were comparable to what I had ordered at Sleepys. He suggested I come in to feel the mattress we discussed in person to make sure I was happy with it. When I got there, I loved the mattress, bought it but explained how I needed it that day! I felt so bad putting that pressure on him to deliver it within hours- BUT HE DELIVERED! He came within 4 hrs. of the time I bought the mattress- he said he would be at my house from 2-3 and he was! He even texted when he was on his way- thank you! We carried the mattress & box spring upstairs and despite having an extremely tight right angle for the 2nd flight of stairs - he made it work! I can't say enough about how appreciative I am for his efforts & grateful that I found a good mattress salesman! Oh and to top it off- our guests said they mattress felt great & we saved +$300 from Sleepy's final price & were within the radius for free delivery. My partner and I needed to get mattresses for our home. We looked at the online reviews of mattress stores and decided to check out Mattress Outlet on Easton Road between Keswick Village and Willow Grove.

We were greeted by Vic, the owner, who was very knowledgeable, patient, and accommodating. Vic took his time with us. He questioned us to understand our needs, likes, and dislikes. Based on our responses, Vic suggested several different makes and styles of mattresses, which he let us try out to determine our comfort with them. He didn't push us or try to up-sell us; he let us decide.

In the end, we ended up with two new and spectacularly comfortable mattresses (Sterns & Foster & Sealy) for a fraction of what we would have paid at any retail store.

Additionally, Vic delivered the mattresses to our home and helped me get them in the condo and set up .... all for no charge.

Don't be put off by the no-frills environment of the store (converted garages below a small office building). You aren't there for the ambiance anyway. What you will get and what you will save, by overlooking the bare bones environment, will more than make up for the lack of a fancy show room.
