I came in with my mother at around 1:45 in the afternoon for lunch. There was one person waiting to order and about 5-6 people waiting for their food. I didn't see any cars in the drive thru. So I figured I should be able to at least order quickly. I was wrong. It took 10-15 minutes just to get up to the counter to order my food. One person got their food in that time and left. Guy working at the counter realizes too late that he just gave that guy the wrong food. So now this other guy and his grandson have nothing to eat. Guy at the counter offers to remake the food. The grandfather asks how long it will take. Guy at the counter says it's gonna take a while. Grandfather says he's been there almost 30 minutes already waiting and just wants his money back. So I finally order our food, which was 2 $5 lunches with the sundaes included. I pay and get my drinks. There are no lids. I go sit at the table. It's filthy, but still the cleanest one there. There are ants crawling along the tables by the windows. The couple next to us says they've been waiting 30 minutes for their order. I asked what they had. They said they ordered 2 Blizzards. Keep in mind, there are maybe less than 10 customers in the restaurant. There is a guy working the counter, a girl working drive thru and 3 people making food. How the hell does it take 30 minutes to get a Blizzard? It ultimately takes around 25 minutes to get our meals. There are no sundaes. I figure they will come out in a little bit. More people come in. I realize after a while that the line is now at least 7-8 people long and has not moved in the past 10 minutes. We finish eating our meal and there are still no sundaes to be had. So I go up. A couple things I notice: 1) the ice cream station is DISGUSTING. Ice cream everywhere, sink overflowing with metal rings. 2) the people in the back are literally just standing around doing nothing. One girl is twirling her hair. 3) Absolutely no one is wearing gloves. I wait about 5 minutes to tell the guy that our ice creams never made it. It's now been 45 minutes since I ordered. People in line are looking pissed. Some are just plain leaving. I recognize the girl in line to order. She's been in line at least 20 minutes. She orders and pays with her card. The guy takes her card and goes to use the drive thru register. I ask about ice cream. He had totally forgot. Makes them. I go sit down. The girl who ordered comes and sits by us 5 or so minutes later. She says that the guy took her card and went to the register but never did anything. She waited for almost 10 minutes to get her card back. She had to remind him that he still had her card, and he remembered that he never ran it. When we left, there was a line almost reaching the back of the seating area. I told people in the parking lot to not...
Read moreWe were on a road trip through southern Oregon and one of my road trip traditions is stopping at DQ for a dipped cone. For this trip we ended up at the Albany DQ. It did not disappoint.
First off it’s not a new, fancy DQ. It’s got that amazing old school DQ aesthetic, including that slate/powder blue exterior paint and tables outside that are bolted to the concrete. Brings me back to the days when they used to hand dip the Dilly Bars.
Second, they had CHERRY dipped cones. Not just chocolate and whatever weird flavor they are featuring but CHERRY. As a dipped cone fan, this is like finding a rare gem. I have given up on ever getting a butterscotch dipped cone but still savor a tasty waxy cherry dipped cone. It also wasn’t dipped so the dip was thin. It was nice and thick. NO COMPLAINTS.
It’s a long story but we ended up on a second road trip in Southern Oregon shortly after and I insisted we would go to the ALBANY DQ. We even missed our turn off! My kids complained, saying all DQs are the same. Well, they ate their words because their banana split was perfect, their brownie sundae had the perfect balance of brownie to ice cream, and my second dipped cherry cone did not disappoint.
Seems a lot of haters are reviewing here. Let me put it this way: I’d sit in drive through and deal with rude employees to visit the best DQ ever and get a cherry dipped cone vs going to a shiny corporate DQ where you only get the chocolate...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with this location and Kara and Sara’s service. We ordered 2 small blizzards hoping to use a BOGO coupon for blizzards. Coming to the drive through window we were told that they were unable to honor our coupon. They said it came from a different store and their store wasn’t participating. We had used the same coupon from the back of a receipt that had multiple copies. All fair. We had gotten lucky a few times if that was true to their policy.
However when presented with our blizzards the first one was flipped to show it was thick per Dairy Queen corporate policy, the second blizzard wasn’t flipped when it was presented. We pointed this out to the employees but they said again. Their store wasn’t participating. That they only had to flip one. Again odd since they don’t seem to stand by a corporate policy but okay fine. We are okay paying full price for the two blizzards. We drive away and as I’m eating my blizzard I realize that a mix in I payed and was charged extra for was missing.
I’m overall really disappointed with our experience and would advise everyone to skip this location. My family feels sad and taken advantage of over this...
