I stayed at this property February 2023 I was in town due to a death in the family. I needed a place close by to the airport. I thought I would give this place a try. The worst experience ever. During my check in with this hotel, I witnessed the employee take money out of the register, slip it into her purse, watched my receipt miraculously disappear from the employees hands all while she’s fumbling to print another one and stuff, her purse back under the counter. I ignored the employees, shady actions and proceeded to my room. I was beyond tired, so I immediately went to bed and did not know of the problems until the next morning I was rented a used nasty unclean room! Food on the floor, all over the mini fridge, unknown substances on the wall and mirrors. This room was not clean. Before departing my room, I contacted the front desk and asked them to come up to the room and see for themselves that this room was not clean. The clerk, assured me everything was fine, and it would get taken care of once I made it down to the lobby, I captured videos and pictures of the room for my own safekeeping and peace of mind when I arrived into the hotel lobby it was a completely different story. I was informed of a policy that is nonexistent and handed a card to contact upper management. The card was to contact the front desk directly not upper management. Upon departing the hotel, I contacted choice hotels, and filed a formal complaint against the hotel while I was on the phone with choice hotels the hotel attempted to fraudulently charge my card two separate transactions totaling $150. Any deposits charges are to be brought up to the card holder at the time of check-in, or check out neither of which was brought to my attention. The employee at the front desk thought it was a grand idea to try and steal after my check out had been successfully completed. I immediately contacted choice hotels again when I discovered the hotel attempted to fraudulently charge my card. Choice hotels did not do anything about this hotels actions only what I wanted to hear to get me off the phone. I contacted the State of New Mexico Attorney, Generals Office and submitted a consumer complaint complete with Photos of the room’s condition and screenshots of banking information. If you have gone through anything like I did with this hotel, please contact the New Mexico Attorney General’s office and file a consumer complaint! Renting, dirty unclean rooms is a health violation! Stealing is a against the law! The way this hotel treated me and the dealings with them afterwards was...
Read moreI have used Choice Hotels for many years because of what I believe are their minimum standards for each property. However, the Econo Lodge East in Albuquerque, New Mexico, fell far below those standards during our recent stay there. It was probably one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. I firmly believe it should be removed from Choice’s list of hotels. What follows is a list of reasons for my opinion: • On check-in the gentleman was nice but insisted we see the room before we checked-in. It reeked of cigarette smoke. He apologized that he didn’t have a list of the smoke-filled rooms. The second room was tolerable so we accepted it. • After settling into the room, we discovered there was no toilet paper. I went to the office and got a roll of toilet paper. • The toilet did not flush. I discovered the flapper was not connected so I fixed it. • We wanted to take showers, but discovered there was no soap. I again went to the office. The gentleman said he would bring some. After 5 minutes he found and delivered two bars of soap. • The sign-on to the wi-fi was unusual, but I was eventually successful. However, when I attempted to download a library book, the library website said the network was unsafe and would not allow access. I quickly disconnected from the network. • The bathroom sink drained very slowly. The half-filled sink drained by morning but quickly filled again while washing our hands and brushing our teeth. • During the night the person in the room above us was frequently walking around with heavy footsteps from 1:00 am to 4:30 am. • Breakfast display consisted of one loaf of bread, 5 bananas, a waffle maker (no syrup), and two choices of cereal (cheerios and frosted flakes). That was it. When we asked if there was butter, the gentleman (not the one at check-in), did not say anything but went into a back room and eventually brought out a container of syrup (that we didn't ask for) and put it on the office counter. Coffee consisted of two unmarked coffee pots. One contained cold coffee and the other luke warm coffee. There was a fruit juice device, but it was empty. On the positive side, the room was clean and the much needed refrigerator...
Read moreThis was the absolute worst hotel I've ever had the displeasure of being in. I knew from the moment I pulled into the parking lot that I had made a mistake, with beat up cars, trash strewn places, broken fencing, and an argument going on between hotel staff and a guy in his truck. Felt pretty genuinely unsafe. But we waited it out and decided to try checking in because it was super late.
The staff member finished their smoke break first before trying to check us in. I say "trying" because we legitimately stood there for 15 minutes while she fumbled around on the computer. She still got my info wrong on the paperwork. The lobby was trashy, smelled bad, and had dirty towels piled on top of the tables in what was a poor excuse for a breakfast area. A tweaker walked up to the counter while we were trying to check in and was trying to get the staff to give her food.
Finally got the room key and went inside the room. Was supposed to be non-smoking (wife has allergic response to cigarette smoke, even latent smells), but obviously had been smoked in for years and it made our eyes burn. Other people's descriptions are accurate: gross carpet, stained sheets, dingy furniture, ants, bad smell from the AC that barely blew cold air. The entire time we spent in the room was THREE MINUTES before we couldn't take it anymore and walked right back out to stay elsewhere. Was told by the staff that we had to go through our booking company for a refund. We contacted them promptly and they made several attempts to contact the hotel's management, who repeatedly did not answer. This place took my money and not a word in return. This was over a month ago and I'm still angry about it.
Speaking of the management, I truly hope you're reading all of this because you're an absolutely incompetent joke. Your responses to other people's reviews are beyond unacceptable. You can't blame "the bad area" and still have your hotel in such a disgusting state, while mispelling replies like "SoRrY fOr InCoNvInCe" while taking no responsibility. You're getting...
