As a long time KOA Rewards member, I don't feel this campground is worth the price. The front desk staff were very friendly and considering this campground is not in the best area, I appreciate the extra attention to security. That being said, there are many areas of improvement. We were put in a site over where it looks like they have long term residents. Those sites looked cluttered and not well maintained. There also appeared to be sites that were used for RV storage as I noticed at least one motorhome that had significant damage stored in one of the sites along the highway wall. Lastly I had an issue with the site we were assigned. We had requested a site with the "gated off-leash pet suite". The pictures online show fenced in pet areas with "turf" installed. The site we were provided had no artificial turf in the pet suite and in fact was all rocks. We spoke with the front desk staff and were told the other sites (all other sites with pet suites had the artificial turf; to include the dog park) were not available. We were also told the turf gets hot and was scheduled to be removed from all of the pet suites. As it was early in the season, why was it not removed already prior to the beginning of the hot season? And why do all the photos online of your campground show the sites with the artificial turf in the pet areas? I am guessing four months later and now through the hot season, the turf still remains as it is still in all of the campground site photos online when booking. We had requested a discount in the amount of the additional cost for the pet suite as we told them our dogs would not be put in the suite that contained all gravel/rocks. We were denied that discount which would have probably equaled about $25 a night for a site that was already over $100 a night. As I was walking our dogs, I was taking pictures of all of the pet suites to show them ALL of their suites except for ours contained the turf. The maintenance guy driving around in his golf cart proceeded to ask me what I was doing. As I was explaining the issue I had with this situation, he just drove off. Extremely rude! Not the level of customer service I would expect from a KOA. Very...

This KOA is in need of a full review from franchise.||Sadly it is in the ghetto, whole city is full of strung out hobos and doesn't seem safe. They have a security gate yes, but there's constant traffic in and out.|| We rented the Deluxe Cabin.|The pics online are not a good representation of the actual venue. The cabin was smaller than the blueprint examples. Which, at first was upsetting.||The cabin was dirty, not just a little overlooked from a rushed cleaning. Seems they have no housekeeping standard. I will say the toilet was clean and linens had been washed. ||Table and other surfaces not sprayed and wiped clean. Old debris under the bed and couch, dog hair, dust, confetti. Also inside the couch pullout bed and the cover on it was torn.|Dust and cobwebs on window sills, curtains, baseboards, top of microwave, the fan.|The dishes weren't clean, stuck food on knives, spoons. Lip marks on cups. A dirty curled dry sponge and half filled travel size dish soap available....|The grill was dirty with meat juice stuck to the rack still, I asked the office for a new sponge and a scrubber for the grill. They had no sponges available and sent an employee to clean the grill, who stood talking to another employee planted on a golf cart the whole time, unprofessional. (I have a pic of it after he's scrubbed it still dirty.) Propane tank was empty anyway so we gave up and did hotdogs on the campfire instead of grilling anything. The fridge smelled mildewy, and wasn't very cold. Keurig never cleaned, but a brand new toaster!||I didn't dare use the hot tub, in fear of bacteria growth. This is the one thing I wanted to do once kids settled in for the night. ||The jump pad was very old and leaking air. Dog poo in the sand at the playground.||Asking the office for help was futile, a different cabin wasn't available and they seemed irritated that I even wanted a new sponge. Where does all the money go? Just to the golf cart employees or what? If we had anywhere else to have gone we would've just paid the $100 cancelation. All these issues just for our 1 night stay, arrived exhausted and hoped for a simple relaxing stay... we just got through it. Do not recommend...

This review is specifically for the tent camp sites. First I will say why they revieved the 1 star that they did. They had several very nice and helpful employees, the bathrooms were clean and the place as a whole seemed very well maintained.

Now let's get real. There are 4 campsites stuck at the back of the grounds. They aren't near the pool or anything for children. All night long, all you hear is loud highway traffic. The night we arrived, we set up camp and the wind later became very strong. There were several empty rv spots which were protected from wind by a fence. We called the office, offered to pay more for one, they said they contacted the people who booked those sites and they were coming. In 2 nights and 3 days we were there, those sites never filled.

That night was terrifying. We were told by the office to "use extra stakes and secure our tent poles with duct tape or go get a hotel" and "welcome to albuquerque" all in the same sentence by a young arrogant kid. Our neighbors purchased a tarp and rope and we used our very expesive rain fly to block wind and moved both of our tents into the pergola. Although extra money was spent, both the rain fly and tarp were ripped, we got scared for our children and "slept" in our car. But let there be no mistake, 45 mph wind, no way compared to the highway traffic for the remainder of our stay. They simply need to move the tent sites and build fences around each site. You are basically stuck in the center of a gravel filled roundabout, completely exposed to all weather other than the roof on the pergola, which I might add, that they tried to kick us out of until a very nice lady made the call to let us stay in. She also came by to make sure we were okay. They need to give people like her a raise and fire that punk kid with the...

Very nice KOA. We had an end site that was a bit of an upgrade to the standard sites - asphalt, pull-thru site with a tree for shade, concrete patio with table and chairs and a nice sized gated dog yard with artificial turf. Though it seems to be a busy place - lots of people staying 1-2 nights only, it is very clean and provided a prompt check-in and guide to our site. We didn’t try the WiFi or use any of the other facilities but everything looked very inviting- even the puppy wash area. I am not a fan of the rock yards - or gravel dog potty areas and neither were our spoiled pups. There is no grass in the entire KOA, but I’m guessing that is fairly common for this area. There is a nice city park within a 7 minute drive - if you or your pups need some grass. They also pick up your trash from your driveway throughout the daytime hours - very convenient. We rode our bikes on part of the 50-mile trail loop - one section is located about .75 miles from the KOA beside Tramway. We rode up into the mountains toward the Tram and back - a nice 20 mile ride. Don’t bother with the trail that runs along I-40 - nothing but trash to see there.

This has to be one of the nicest KOA Journey locations we have stayed at. Remove the highway, and it could easily be a KOA Holiday. We stayed in April 2025 while on a trip. We reserved at a place in Tijeras, but after we didn't feel safe there and this KOA was able to get us in at the last minute. I can't say much about the amenities except that they looked quite nice. We ended up spending our two days here resting and recharging. We opted for a pull thru so we wouldn't have to disconnect our car, and the site was more than long enough to accommodate this. The site was paved, so we were able to just pull in and level. We had 50 amp service, but 30 amp was also available. The water pressure was good and the sewer was available but we didn't use it. On short stops, I want to hook up as little as possible. The staff we encountered were very friendly and accommodating. It was a little pricey for a Journey, but when we got here, we understood why. We would absolutely stay here again. You won't be disappointed either.
